A Lifetime of Cars

The Contour was a MUCH better car than the Focus is turning out to be. The Contour was still goign strong at 100,000 miles and in great condition. The Focus is struggling through Fords automatic transmission clutch failures. I wont keep this car much longer.

Just waiting for the Ford factory recall work to be done on the transmission then off to fins a different small family car to replace it with.

As for a Contour SVT, if its anything like the SE was only faster and cooler then I bet its a great car :)

Our C5 has been a work in progress since 2002. First just a B&M Ripper shifter, then headers, then a cam and cat backs - then all hell broke loose and the car went from mildly modded to completely insane - I like to think of it as my real life Forza Car :) - well except for that absurd AWD drive train mod Forza has hehe.

How insane did it get?. My C6 engine/drivetrain wise has the cam, C5R timing chain, heads, headers, exhaust, intake, intake manifold, throttle body and a tune done on it and a Katech clutch/flywheel kit.

There was quite a bit of stuff done to the car by the previous owner that i have not listed. My recent addition is the cam, C5R timing chain, heads, intake, intake manifold, throttle body and tune.

The craziest build was a .720 lift cam that together with the ported LS7 heads and compression ratio was good for 600rwhp & 540ftlb normally aspirated.

The motor was harsh, wild & lopey and pulled like crazy all the way to 7100rpm. Made 600rwhp from 6000rpm all the way to red line. Was so brutal it would spin Kuhmo slicks at 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd upshifts on the race track and would spin the tyres on the street during 4th to 5th upshifts.

Car was very scary to drive on the street. That build snapped 2 cam chains. After 2 rebuilds I decided to try progressively milder cams. Currently running a Katech torquer cam. Less peak HP and torque, but more torque earlier in the rev range.

Numbers are 550rwhp and 510ftlb now, but makes 400ftlb at 3000rpm now, instead of only 280ftlb at 3000rpm - so much easier to drive on the street and actually feels quicker at legal speeds :)

The car is loads of fun to drive on road trips. It is a long distance mile eater. Did a 400 mile round trip day trip to San Antonio a few weeks back - back roads the whole way. Average speed 90mph, was great fun. Often do long trips like that with the car.

You're running a Katech Torquer, K501 for me. We're running similar numbers i've got 24 more hp but my torque is the same.

Im very impressed with your gains. I say this because the C5's stock hp is significantly lower than on the LS7's.

Hey fellas be a little careful of turning this into motorhead thread. Hopefully people will keep adding cars and little stories. I totally appreciate the tech but it might distract some. Nothing but love fellas.:D

Hello...here is my Lifetime of Cars...

ok....it´s not that impressive and very european...but i tried to add a bit of extra-spice by creating a nice diagramm!!!...hope you like it!!

Evolution.jpg

First Car was a "Seat Marbella". A kind of spanish Fiat Panda Clone. It was ugly but did the job.
No Power at all, but somehow enjoyed it at least a little...
I mean->First Car->Proud whatever it is!!

Second was a "Opel Corsa B". With just 16 Valves and 65HP out of 1.2L Petrol engine it was at least a little step forward!!

Third was a "Fiat (New) Panda". Just 8 Valves and 65HP again out of 1.2L.
A bit ugly but you realize that the italien´s are very good in building Microcars....
so this one also did the job!!

Fourth was a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig step!!!
I love this Car, even if it´s just a 2.2L Inline 6Cyl. with 170HP, it drives so wonderfully!
Enjoy every single Kilometer in it.....

BUT......

Big Question is: WHAT COMES NEXT???:O_o:

So if i continue to follow the "path" it should become a supersonic starship one day!!!...

Have a nice day everybody!!;)

PS.: Forgot to mention that i have a 1970 Fiat 500 in my garage waiting to be restored...Have some silly ideas for this little thing:D

Cool idea. Here's mine, the first 10 are internet pics but are correct color/models, the last two were taken outside my garage. You can almost pinpoint when I started to embrace my petrolhead tendencies. :)

Very nice mate! Very jealous of your 2017 WRX!
I'll be joining the REX club next weekend :)

Excellent! What are you getting? The 2017 is miles and miles better than my 2008 (which was probably the worst WRX ever made), the stock engine map kinda sucks but it's still very quick and the handling is mega. I got some Michelin X-Ice snow tires for Xmas but sadly we have yet to get any appreciable snow here. I'm an unapologetic Subaru fanboy, hope to keep the WRX for a very long time.

I'm getting an '01 WRX, considering it's age, it's in very good nick. Took it for a test drive two weeks ago and was very impressed :) I've always wanted a Subaru WRX and this will be my first car :) I finally saved all my pennies and can now buy it. No more mooching off the parents for their ride.

Enjoy, share your first impressions, and welcome to the family! Two things to remember, it must be towed on a flatbed and handbrake turns aren't good for the differential.

Sweet baby Jebus, I just caught the vapors.

I think I need moment alone.... :whistling: What a beauty!
Hahah, thanks man, I can't wait to drive her home in like a week or so :D

Btw, the 2017 Impreza is sexy as all get out. I thought they kind of went away from their good looks for a while there (2012 to 2015 Impreza's, I think?), but since the 2016 model, they've been gorgeous!

I'm quite fond. I didn't think too much of them when I first saw the photos, but in person they look so much better. Lots of curves and angles and lines. I recently got the windows tinted and I think it really sets the blue off. (Check out what's in the background. :D )
