Alright when was that again.....?

Seeing how Gutierrez is the Merc reserve/test/dev.driver he have had loads of sim-time and dev-time with the 2019 Mercedes, and should be pretty familiar with the 2020 Racing Point?
You ever heard of Luca Badoer?
He was Ferrari's test driver during one of the most dominant periods.
Being a test driver doesn't always translate to being fast on track.
It means you can see what the car is doing and give input into how and why.
The engineers can then use that information to make the car better or at the very leasr, fix problems.
Badoer was extremely slow on track once deployed in the absence of the regular driver.
So too may Gutierrez.
His past showings against teammates in the same equipment, was nothing to write home about.

Welcome to the central discussion thread for the 2020 Formula One British Grand Prix.

The fourth round of the delayed 2020 Formula One World Championship heads to the home of the British Grand Prix this weekend, with the first of two races at the historic Silverstone circuit set to be held under typical mixed British summertime weather.

With the Mercedes steamroller start to the season yielding three victories from the opening three rounds, Silverstone this weekend will be a critical opportunity for the likes of Red Bull, Racing Point and Ferrari to restart their season, and claw back some much needed ground on the mighty Silver Arrows.

Sadly for racing fans, the fast sweeping turns of the Northamptonshire venue should make for a perfect playground in which to showcase the superior aerodynamic configuration of the 2020 Mercedes Formula One car - something that is likely to leave their closest rivals with sleepless nights, such has been the performance advantage of the German brand so far this season.

Further down the field, Racing Point will be hopeful that a home advantage helps the team unlock the potential of their Pink Mercedes, with drivers Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll yet to fully maximise the ultimate performance of what could potentially be a 'best of the rest' car this year.

Can Ferrari get on top of their current woes at Silverstone? Will Red Bull be able to put up a fight against Mercedes? Are Racing Point able to challenge for the podium? Is it time for Williams to convert their potential to a first points finish for George Russell? All will be revealed on Sunday afternoon...

The Racing Point Formula One team have swooped to secure 32-year-old German driver Nico Hulkenberg for the upcoming British and 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone.
  • Sergio Perez ruled out of Silverstone double header following positive Covid-19 test.
  • Hulkenberg returns for upcoming two Grand Prix.
  • Perez expected to return in time for Barcelona.

Nico Hulkenberg will make a surprise return to the Formula One grid this weekend with Force India, the German driver returning to the team with which he raced under the Force India guise in 2011-12 / 2014-16. Hulkenberg, who last raced in Formula One at the season ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2019, has inked a deal to stand in for the sidelined Sergio Perez at both the British and 70th Anniversary Grand Prixs at Silverstone beginning today, ironically giving the talented driver arguably his most competitive car of his long Grand Prix career.

It will be a tall ask for the German to hit the ground running this year, having largely been inactive in racing since losing his drive with the works Renault team at the end of 2019, and not having had the opportunity to spend time with his new team following the late announcement of Perez's positive test results.

My naive me wanted to vote for Verstappen but just before pushing the button my realistic me clicked on Hamilton. And he deserves it. Would be another milestone if Hamilton wins this GP at Silverstone.

Voted Lewis as he is incredibly strong and in the best car.
I think the Hulk could get on the podium if he does race in the pink panther, but he may need a race or two to get up to speed with the car. Realistically, Stroll has more chance of getting on the podium due to knowing the car better. Perhaps. Who knows eh?
