Fun fact: Lewis Hamilton now has the same number of Pole Positions in F1 as Ayrton Senna and Bruno Senna combined!

It's a worthless tally really what really should they should do is

years participated multiplied by
number of races vs poles for each year percentage

it's not fair to older records now that we have 20+ races a season.

I really hope for an exciting Grand Prix this week. But my eyes are already getting heavier and heavier.

I think the big different between Hamilton and Senna pole record is that Senna, for the most part of his career anyway, didn't have the quickest car in the field (except 88, 89). Far, far, far more of Senna's pole laps were "wow, did he really do that!?!?" moments than what has been achieved by LH of late.

Not saying the Canada pole wasn't great because it was, but over the span of their careers I personally think LH has had it pretty easy in quali in comparison to when Senna set his times.

Following on what Paul said, times were different aswell.
In Senna´s time, we had special only Qualy tires....we had engines prepared only for Qualy.
In his time with Lotus, specially with the black Lotus Renaut, Senna did lots and lots of Poles, because he became a specialist in that. In extract the absolute maximum over a single lap, with the engine prepared to deliver numbers that were unusable for a race. He focused a lot on that. Pole Position was almost an art separated from the race itself.
Then when race day come, the peak order of the field was quite different from the one of the Qualy. Cars use to break down a lot aswell.
I remember that drivers like Prost and Lauda, Mclaren drivers at that time, working all weekend only on race settings. Starting sometimes outside the Top10, and working their way up to race wins.

Was a completely different time. Have to say, a more interesting one.

Not only that but engine reliability too even up to the mid 2000's we had seasons plagued with retirements, 2010 the worst this decade.

I'm hoping for a nice battle between Ferrari and Mercedes in todays race.

I updated my Haas skin for Assetto Corsa just-in-time for the start. ;)
