I said "odd-picking"

Now... how would that relate to you? I thought it was a discussion between SKY and BBC.
Alright, because you don't want to drop it. You wrote:
Some odd picking going on then,
Your usage of "then" implies that you thought that, if what I wrote was indeed correct, the picks were odd, thus calling my statement into question. I am sorry if I misinterpreted you there. You have a tendency to pick fights with just about anyone over anything just for the fun of it, so this interpretation wasn't much of a stretch.

And since I don't want to make another post that doesn't relate to the Canadian GP at all:
Canadian GP faces protest

Student bodies have threatened a "weekend of disruption", with a view to having the race cancelled, claiming that it espouses "sexist, non-environmental and elitist values".

I like Sky's coverage better.
Its much more in-depth and informative from a technical point of view.

Plus BBC's new commentator alongside DC is awful. Doesn't sound like he has a clue about F1.

Wow that was really grasping for straws, "then".

Bolded part is incorrect. You started this one, not me.
I just left a reply questioning Sky and BBC´s picking, for some reason you took that and made it personal.
Again, you started this.

Just re-read the whole conversation and look for yourself, i think you´ll come to the conclusion that you jumped the gun a bit to early on this one.
And then when realized it, made it sound like it was because of me. Not cool.

I always prefer to take everything 100% at face value and have an objective discussion, but sometimes that doesn't work.
And yes, it's possible that I jumped the gun, and it is equally possible that you are still trolling me. Only you can know which one is actually the case, I can't. I wouldn't have responded like this if someone else had given the same reply.

Sexism in F1?
I'm pretty sure females have the exact same opportunity to get involved (see Susie Wolfe, etc) they're just not quick enough.
Personally, I also think it's just a load of crap and that the students are just trying to use F1 to get attention for their cause, but that doesn't mean that they can't actually be disruptive. Hippies are unpredictable

I don´t troll. As you say only i can know that, so despite that you had a pre-set thought on it.
Well you are not me and i´m not you. Thus it makes no sense to base your opinion on me by what your actions would have been.

Enough, just don´t take things personal when there was no reason in the world for it.
The conversation was going well until you did that.

Mercedes 1&2, and i think if MS gonna lead he has to let Rosberg pass him.
Lotus has a very good top speed too, but they can t put together a weekend, just like McLaren, so maybe 3rd place for Alonso. :sneaky:

Oh my god... Them f*cking retards (read: students) are becoming more and more a pain in the ass...

Basically, for those who don't know what's going on, they are complaining it costs too much (Cegep, University, whatever), when in fact it's nearly free :poop:

Mercedes wouldn't dare do that to Schumacher, I think we all know that he will be bringing mega bucks in behind the scenes, not to mention the car wouldn't of developed to be how it is today without him.

Well, Motorsports in general are very sexist.

Woman are objects most of the time, see the pitbabes, the stewards, etc. 100% of the time the role of woman was to show body, be pretty, smile and shut up.

In recent times with the enter of woman engineers in the teams that % was modified a bit.

But that can be changed without cancelling the races, of course :)

Don't worry i have already left my mark on all of them, yes all, these pitbabes are so damm sexy, better then all of the pit babes / grid girls i have ever seen in any F1 race before :p fine legs... and asses!

For anyone who is planning on attending the 2012 Canadian GP in Montreal and do NOT want to miss the race, give yourself plenty of time to walk to the track in case the metro is shutdown. In fact count on the metro being shutdown. For the most part I think the F1 visitors will be safe, but you know there is civil disobedience that is being planned. In recent months smoke bombs have shutdown the metro and you can pretty much count on massive demonstrations Friday and Saturday night around Peel and Crescent Streets where many nightclubs cater to out of town visitors. Nothing short of bringing down the Capitalist system and replacing it with Marxism is the goal of these so called students protestors and the fame and money of an F1 event complete with international TV coverage is the sort of target these protestors will be seeking to shutdown. I am pretty sure the race will go on, but the stands could very well be empty if the fans are prevented from getting to the venue. Enjoy the race. this could very well be the last Grand Prix race in Montreal.

Hampus why do you beat me to making these F1 threads, you make me feel useless now! haha, great jb!
Should have let a Canadian handle it... ;)

Quebec's influential La Press newspaper reported yesterday that students plan to hold protests against the race on the Circuit GIlles Villeneuve in Montreal as part of a campaign against a planned increase in university fees of 75% over the next 5 years.

Meh, it's not as bad as Bahrain. F1 shouldn't have to worry about that.

sexist, non-environmental and elitist values

People are over reacting about the protests in Quebec. It's not a big deal, there's no way it will stop the race, and it won't prevent it from running in the future. By the way I really don't want to get into this, but Canada does not in ANY way have a Capitalist government. We have a Democratic government bordering on Socialist because of our health care and welfare systems. The U.S.A. government is Capitalist. While our tuition fees aren't the cheapest they are in no way unreasonable. If you have a part time job as a student they are easily affordable presuming you don't spent money on things you don't need. The government also pays the schools money for each student which lowers our cost; another point showing we aren't Capitalist.

Chris,

You are confusing economics and politics. The US doesn't have a "Capitalist Government" as capitalism isn't a form of government. It's actually a democratic republic, like most western governments. The differences are more about social ideology than the economy, political system and laws, which are pretty similar.

Canada most definitely has a capitalist economic system. The biggest difference between the US economic system and other more socialist leaning economies being the lower tax rates for the wealthiest members of the population, high military spending, and less support for social programs like education and healthcare. Basically, the approach is "you're on your own."

For the record, I would prefer the US adopted more of the Canadian style social programs.

More on topic - We now have a GP on the F1 calendar and next year we'll have two! :D
