Stoner dominates to take win

Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner has dominated the Barcelona MotoGP at Catalunya to take his third win of the 2011 season.
World champion Jorge Lorenzo got a good start to lead for the first couple of laps, but it wasn't long before Stoner made his way past and opened up a gap on the Spaniard. From then on the Australian was un-catchable, eventually finishing 2.403secs ahead of Lorenzo.
Lorenzo's team-mate Ben Spies was back to his old self, taking his best result of 2011 with third place. Pole-setter Marco Simoncelli was unable to replicate the form which saw him steal pole from Stoner in qualifying, getting a poor start whch saw him mid-pack at the first corner, Simoncelli finished sixth.
After a scrap with Andrea Dovizioso in the early stages of the race, Valentino Rossi finished fifth, behind Dovizioso.
Brit Cal Crutchlow scored his best finish in MotoGP in seventh place ahead of Nicky Hayden.

Anstey takes eighth Isle of Man TT race win

Bruce Anstey took his eighth Isle of Man TT win in this afternoon's Supersport race which had to be restarted after a fatal crash involving Irish rider Derek Brien.
Anstey finished ahead of Keith Amor in second with Guy Martin in third and Gary Johnson and John McGuinness completing the top five finishers.
Incredibly the Kiwi rider wasn't happy with his riding performance on the Padgetts Honda CBR600RR despite winning from Amor by eight seconds and claiming the fastest lap of the race at 126.59mph on his final lap of the three lap race.
Anstey said he had been riding 'like a wuss' adding: "I wasn’t getting the corner speeds I wanted - it didn’t feel quite right out there. But you’ve got to keep going; keep at it and keep going. With the 600s you never know what’s going to happen."
For Amor second place was a brilliant result having spent three days in hospital following a crash at Quarterbridge in practice on Friday.
The race was stopped when the leaders were more than half way around their second lap when Irish racer Derek Brien crashed at Gorse Lea.
Unlucky Michael Dunlop lead both parts of the race before being sidelined both times with mechanical problems.

ACU issues statement on death of Derek Brien
Following the red flag during the first run of the Supersport 1 race, the following statement has been issued.
"ACU Events Ltd regrets to announce the death of Derek Brien, 34, from Co. Meath in Ireland who was killed during the first Supersport race at the 2011 Isle of Man TT Races following a high speed accident at Gorse Lea. The race was immediately red flagged following the incident.
"Derek was an experienced road racer who first competed on the Isle of Man in the Manx Grand Prix in 2007 and competed in the TT Races in 2009 and 2010. He had a highest TT place of 13th in the 2010 Supersport 1 race. Derek was single with a partner, Sarah. The ACU wishes to pass on their deepest sympathy to Derek's family and friends."
Jim Parker, Managing Director, ACU Events, commented: "Derek was a very talented road racer and achieved a number of notable career highlights including his Manx Grand Prix victory. He will be sorely missed."
The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and investigation into the circumstances of the accident is under way.
 
Dunlop takes Superstock TT victory

Michael Dunlop overcame the disappointment of retiring from this morning's Supersport TT by winning Monday evening's delayed four-lap Superstock TT.
It was Dunlop's second TT victory, having won the Supersport race in 2009 and it marked the ninth TT win for Kawasaki.
Dunlop had to withdraw from today's earlier Supersport race with his Yamaha leaking oil from a engine case gasket but his ZX-10R – with an engine prepared by BSB team MSS Kawasaki - ran faultlessly as he overhauled lap one leader Guy Martin with a devastating second lap, some 13 seconds quicker than his nearest rival.

His eventual winning margin was 18.63s over John McGuinness on a Padgetts Honda while Martin finished third, the Relentless by TAS Suzuki rider's second podium finish of the day and 11th TT podium of his career – but still without the race win he is so desperate for.
Dunlop (23) however said: "That was hard work but the bike never missed a beat. After this morning's Supersport race, I was beginning to think I’d not get another one again (a TT victory) but my team did a mega job for me and this is the only way I can repay them. I can’t thank them enough – or all the fans out there who were going bananas, cheering me on."
Keith Amor battled through the pain of his shoulder injury to finish fourth on his KBMG Honda while Michael’s brother William had a great ride to fifth place on the Wilson Craig Honda. He had even worse luck than Michael in the earlier Supersport race when his bike developed a death rattle as it was started up – a brand new engine installed after an expensive blow up with the original engine in practice on Saturday.

Team-mate Cameron Donald completed the top six, but one of the rides of the day came from TT rookie Simon Andrews who finished 11th on the Ice Valley BMW. He clocked 123.528mph, moving ever closer to his target 125mph and still has Friday's Senor race to look forward to on the stocker.
Notable retirements among the front-runners included: Dan Stewart and Bruce Anstey who both stopped at the pits at the end of the first lap and Gary Johnson who ran out of fuel while in fourth place at the Creg on the fourth lap.

British MotoGP: Stoner consistent in FP2

Unbelievable that Colin Edwards is racing after braking his right collarbone in 7 pieces last weekend.......:rolleyes:

Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner was consistently fastest throughout the damp second practice session at Silverstone this afternoon. Stoner led the session until Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini) topped the timesheet with one minute remaining, but Stoner was able to reclaim his position as fastest rider in the finall moments of FP2.
Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) was third fastest in the session, closely followed by Brit Cal Crutchlow (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) who was fourth quickest around the Northamptonshire circuit.
Crutchlow's team mate Colin Edwards retired early, putting in twelve laps and finishing in sixteenth.

Stoner takes pole position

Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner will start tomorrow's Silverstone MotoGP from pole position after battling with Jorge Lorenzo and Marco Simoncelli for the entirity of the session.
Stoner set the fastest lap with a 2'02.020 to beat Simoneclli by 0.188sec but Italian Simoncelli came close to taking pole position on his final lap. The Honda rider was 1.001sec faster than Stoner, but lost time in the final sector.
World champion Jorge Lorenzo completes the front row in third position.
Factory Yamaha rider Ben Spies heads the second row ahead of Andrea Dovizioso and Karel Abraham.
Brit hopeful Cal Crutchlow may not start tomorrow after he crashed at the start of his third lap. The Tech 3 rider was taken to the medical centre where he was found to have fractured his left collarbone and had suffered a concussion.
Colin Edwards, who broke his right collarbone at Catalunya last week, qualified in eighth place.
The big surprise of the session was that Valentino Rossi will start the race tomorrow from 13th on the grid, 3.761secs behind Stoner, with only Toni Elias and Loris Capirossi behind him.

British MotoGP: Casey Stoner shivers to commanding win

Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner has taken the lead in the MotoGP championship with a dominant victory at a rain soaked Silverstone circuit.
Current champion Jorge Lorenzo got the holeshot into the first corner, but Stoner and team-mate Andrea Dovizioso passed him before the end of the first lap. Stoner passed Dovizioso at the first corner on lap two and from then on was unstoppable, eventually opening up a lead of 15.159secs by the end of the race.
Second spot wasn't as secure, with Dovizioso, Jorge Lorenzo and Marco Simoncelli all in with a chance of taking 20 points. Simoncelli had a big moment on the brakes into turn one of lap four and ran off the track, relegating himself back to fourth behind Lorenzo.

Some of the pressure was taken off Dovizioso at the begninng of lap eight when Lorenzo highsided his factory Yamaha machine coming out of the first corner, less than a lap after team-mate Ben Spies crashed his Yamaha at Copse.
This gave Simoncelli chance to catch Dovizioso, which he did, but he was unable to make a move stick. On lap 11 Simonceli virtually guaranteed Dovizioso second place, crashing hard on the brakes at the end of the new start/finish straight.
The best result of the day must surely go to Tech 3 Yamaha rider Colin Edwards, who only nine days after breaking his right collarbone at Catalunya, nursed himself and the bike home to take the final step on the podium.
Nicky Hayden pressured the Texan towards the end of the race, setting the fastest lap of the entire race on lap 17, but it was too little too late and the Ducati rider had to settle for fourth.
Valentino Rossi made up seven places during the race to finish sixth, but that was still 1'04.526mins back from race winner Stoner and 28.956secs behind fifth place finisher Alvaro Bautista.

I have tested the different tyre solutions and the soft tyre is working well but I still need to do a long run tomorrow to really understand. At the moment Melandri looks very strong, but I am sure we can improve things for tomorrow.”

Noriyuki Haga was once again in good form and led the way for Aprilia and the RSV4. The privateer PATA Aprilia rider finished in third place ahead of Leon Camier in fourth and Max Biaggi in sixth.
Camier said: “We made a good change to the bike and compared to Misano the feeling I’m getting from the front is better and I’ve definitely got more confidence. In Misano I was losing the front so much and it feel better here, but saying that I’m still surprised to be this high up the leader board.”
Tom Sykes impressed with both his outright pace and consistency during the qualifying session especially given that he spent the session on the harder rear Pirelli tyre and is yet to test the higher performing soft tyre.
He said: “It’s been a good session for us especially as I was in second position for most of the session using a tyre that I ran in Free Practice this morning. Last year our bike was a bit of a disaster in the hot conditions so it’s good to be this far up with the new bike.”

Melandri heads Checa in first qualifying, Camier fourth

Melandri takes pole

Yamaha World Superbike Team rider Marco Melandri took pole position in the final minutes of Superpole 3 at Aragon, putting in an impressive performance to relegate Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia Racing) to second on the grid.
Biaggi will start ahead of British team mate Leon Camier, who qualified third, whilst championship leader Carlos Checa (Althea Racing) completes the front row to start from fourth position on the grid.
Spaniard Checa had been dominant until Superpole 2, where he was surpassed by Biaggi. A mistake in Superpole 3, where Checa outbraked himself meant he couldn't improve on fourth position.
Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team Superbike) rode consistently to qualify at the head of the second row in fifth, but had his last flying lap of Superpole 3 thwarted by a meandering Max Biaggi who strayed on to the racing line whilst heading out to practice his race start. Yamaha World Superbike rider Eugene Laverty will start from sixth, ahead of Joan Lascorz (Kawasaki Racing Team) and BMW Motorrad Italia rider Ayrton Badovini.
British BMW Motorrad Motorsport rider Leon Haslam, who is still recovering from injuries sustained at Misano, qualified in fourteenth place.

ive been useing expat the shield for the last few days, Wow , thanks for sharing. I use the eurosport player and i was looking at the english eurosport player and i signed in not thinking it would allow me, as my contract is for europe. And it worked. Now i can watch british superbikes and many more sport that the european player does not show. ( you have to have a valid contract for this to work)

After watching the tt i went out and bought a playstation 2 tt legends and tourist trophy ....
 
Cool you'll be able to watch BSB tomorrow at a wet Knockhill, should been some close racing..:). The TT game was good you start off in sections of the track so you get to know were your going when you come to do the full circuit awesome stuff, if only it was on PC....:)
