Anno, way to early but discuss The Road to.. and the final rounds in here.

(so now we at least have a topic about it :)

I already know that these instruments the South Africans use (no idea what it's called, you know, it's these bright, incredibly disturbing instruments, something like 'vuvuzela' or so) after the Confed Cup :D

I fear our national squad had too little resistance in the preliminaries resulting in the team to be a little overconfident at the moment.

Although Holland has a great group of strikers, the problem is our defense and especially the goalkeeper position now Van der Sar retired as international (Edwin please come back one more time, only during the final stages)

I don't think our team is overconfident at the moment, and I think the only problem we'll have is the goal keeper on the world cup.

Our midfield and strikers are of world class. But I think in 2010 we'll have a good defense as well:
I forsee a team of:

-----------------------Vorm----------------
Van der Wiel----Heitinga----Marcellis----Braafheid
-----------Van Bommel----De Jong----------
Van Persie--------Van der Vaart-------Robben
--------------------Huntelaar----------------

I know the defense is young, but finally we'll have a true right back and left back again. Heitinga is better than Ooijer and Marcellis is easily better than Mathijsen.

Our midfield is no question, except maybe Sneijder/Van der Vaart..
And strikers.. I'm afraid van Nistelrooij won't fully heal from his knee injury. So I think it's best to have Huntelaar at that position.

And goal keeper.. I'm not too fond of Stekelenburg, I rpefer Vorm and Velthuizen, where I prefer Vorm above..

The full squad for wc 2010:
1. Vorm
2. Van der Wiel
3. Heitinga
4. Marcellis
5. Braafheid
6. Van Bommel
7. Van Persie

Group E for Oranje isn't easy but as Nr. 3 team of the world they need to get through this group. Advantage is that Denmark and Japan are 2 teams which like to play the game and attack, which suits our style.

Group D and G (thank god we didn't draw Portugal :D) are imo the hardest pools to be in. South Africa has a really tough job with France, Uruguay and Mexico in their pool and things are not looking good for them as the hosting country.

Thank god for England :)

We can breeze our way into the quarters barring upsets

dunno bout breezing Matthew :angel2:

England are looking good, but you shouldn't underestimate Uncle Sam and Slovenia (who beat Russia in the playoffs and did only conceded 5 goals in the whole qualifying streak). Algeria is the darkhorse here and seems the weakest in this group.
