Just back from Knockhill... what racing!!!

what a muppet though, went off with camera leaving SD card in pc! doh! ran out after 3 laps for porsche race 1!!!!

still had cam corder so will pull my shakey mega zoomed in footage to something bearable to watch and see what stills i can get off this.

i was really upset when Plato spun out.... really.... nah... i lie.

Btcc Silverstone

Hi Guys,
Today i went to the BTCC at Silverstone on a warm but merky august morning we left home at6:50 and got their for about 8:30.
The three btcc races were absolutly quality very close and full of action:thumb: Renault Clios was OK but not the best clio race ive ever seen! but still very clean and close!
Formula Renaults what do i say ? that was the best formula renualt races weve had all season!
Porsche Cup was brilliant very very good racing with Tim Harvey winning the Second race!

They also had a colection of the last 50 years of the BTCC with the 'cologne' Capri, escorts , RS500 Seirras,Hillman i etc but some lovely cars.

Silverstone is great, nowhere like it really. Went there for the F1 this year and its just brilliant. I don't understand why they are getting rid of it (F1).

Well i can to be honest , i know its a good track but the facilitys are old and tatty the Bridge on the start finish is old and looks very under looked after like the flooring etc!Plus the hospitality buliding coming on the the start/finish my dad said has been their since the mid 80's.

When you look at other venuse for F1 they are astonishingly better than silverstone!
Plus i prefer Donington much more varient in corners and also hills and gradients which will make it interesting with no TC.

I was a guest at Silverstone last weekend, big thanks to Pyro Motorsport for their hospitality, showing me around the car and offering assistance with my car.

Pyro are this years winning Renault Clio Cup team with driver Ben Winrow the championship winner, had a great day!

ok, finally took some footage of the camcorder (due to leaving SDCARD for camera at home) of knockhill btcc... heres a couple of stills from the event while i edit a video.

lunch time entertainment from a converted 1994 f1 car to hill climber (tyres shot after 2 laps and spot where the dip in the track is)

the second is from the ginetta juniors... yes that is his bonnet over his screen. kid went in the pits had it ripped off and i'm pretty sure ended up in the points

So SEAT are pulling the factory team out of the BTCC after Brands Hatch. I wonder what impact that will have for next year in terms of drivers, sponsors etc.

I hope this doesn't have an impact on GR Asia (Aircool) and CVR (Team Carbon Zero) for next year. Although CVR have already announced their drivers, I wonder if GR Asia will consider entering an extra car if they can attract the sponsorship etc for 2009 as I would have throught that SEAT sponsors like Holiday Inn may still want to have a presence in BTCC.

Also, that puts pay to the rumour of 3 manufacturers next year in BTCC.

shame they're pulling out... gonna miss the cupra support racing too - thats been great to watch.

lets see if a dealer team take up the challenge to keep the seats running in the btcc though.

I hadn't thought of that Keith, that's a good idea - if that was the case, I'd like to see GR-Asia (Aircool) running Plato with Jones. GR-Asia are a great team, they just haven't had the budget in the past to do the testing that they want.
