good race nd boy what a pace you guys have with the little old csl...

Ended up 5th 3laps behind lol...

Had a crash just before going into the pit... Pitstop suddenly took 134 secs to complete lol...
And another stop/go too

Good race though. I wonder what it would have been with 20 drivers.

Anyway, race report up tomorrow.

Night fellow racers!:wink2:

100% GTL action as always:dance:

Had a pretty good qualy and started 2nd. But during the race I really couldn't find the rythm and made so many errors. But lots of fun nonetheless. Had some good racing with Kevin, but I ended up behind him after some laps. On the second last lap I went wide in the last turn and got a stop and go penalty. Ended up 4th I think behind Stuart.

Congrats Paulo:skywalker:

Thanks Stuart and RD for another good race

silverstone 88 1hr Endurance

At the start of practice, wasn't to sure if i liked this track or not, overall it is one fast piece of tarmac. The Beemer seems to be a car you have to work with and if you push just a little bit to hard bites you with understeer, having said that i think i had quite a good setup and qualified 4th behind Paulo.Knut and Ben.At Race start Stuart(qual 5th)got the jump on me and i tucked in behind him till the chicane where i passed(sure you let me through stu_:)).I then slowly closed in on Knut and till the pitstop(lap 19) we were never more than 1 to 1.5 seconds apart. After the pitstop it was a pretty lonely race only coming across Hans 1 lap from the End.All in all a good race crossing the line in 2nd,still congats to Paulo 36 sec up the road in 1st place. Thanks to Stuart for organising the Event, look forward to the next one ,Kev.

Lonely Race

Only 8 drivers showed up,(the die hards) Silverstone is long so your most of the time on your one.
In pract. playing with setups, Knut shared his setup with us bud a little to twisty for me so stick with a setup from Simon more stable.Quali on 7 place
with a 1.39.7.. bud Paulo did a 1.32? way to fast for me.

In the race I hold 7 place (not that difficult) Ben drop out quick (what happened Ben) so place 6 then, get a lap in round 12 or so, Paulo gaining on me so fast I had no time to go of the racing line, stay on the right side and hit all the pole's in the corner for the strait ,pfff...

Put 50 ltr.of fuel in the car at start ,presuming to do 20 laps bud in lap 17 my light begin to flicker so Pit in lap 18 ,only fuel, 50 ltr.again no tyer's out in 39 sec. Finn. the race on place 6 (of course).Win for Paulo with a Big lead !

CotM series give you the time to learn a car better,I am not that fast, bud it is fun ,learning to slide the car trough a corner on the throttle, and when that succeed it give you a great feeling, did not make many mistake's slight of hear and there, did steady lap time's ,1.39-1.40 and finn. the race.

I can't mirror my self with the fast guys and that is no problem I do this for the Fun,and FUN it is, Thanks guys

Hans
Pfffff,that is long..

Race report:

Qualified in 5th position, with the setup of Knut. A setup were you could go into oversteer the moment you wanted, but as we all know, this car is very hard to control passing the limit.

The time was a 1.36.xxx

Not bad, but if the boys keep up the pace in front of me when it's racing time, it won't be that good either...

Time to roll the CSL to the start line. The car was in good shape and i felt comfortable on the grid, as i sat on the inside for the first turn. Kevin was on 4th but on the outside. 100 liters of fuel in the tank, i planned to only change tyres.

Lights start counting... Green!

Great start and jumped over Kevin before the start of the turn and settled myself behind Ben.

gtl2009051712502884.jpg

But a few turns later Kevin already found the rythm and started hunting my behind, and me, still not being a good driver under pressure, i run a bit wide at the chicane... He outbraked me and could pas fluidly.

gtl2009051712580864.jpg

But i was right on him on the straight, slipstreaming back next to him on the inside at the end of the start/finish straight, but yet again he could outbrake me and defend his position.

gtl2009051713020264.jpg

Back on fifth and after going wide some turns later, in the fast righthander, even on sixth, when Stuart could pass me... Common Bert, keep the level up like in qualifying! I did and when the battle in front started with Ben and Stuart i set the fastest lap, lap 4 i think, for now. On that moment Stuart overtook Ben on the straight, like some others, because he had a major spin coming out the chicane.

gtl2009051713073404.jpg

And some turns later he went wide and i could easily make the pass... I think damage was to big for him because it was quite an impact.

gtl2009051713123171.jpg

So back on 5th now it was time to really start the race. Lap after lap the race went on, but i was still losing time, 4 secs a lap to the ones in front of me. When i came to lap 18 i wanted to go pitting on lap 19, but the strategy needed to change suddenly... At the end of lap 17, beginning of 18th, i totally missed the braking point after the straight start/finish and flew into the barrier... Result: left front totally messed up and splitter gone... So I had to come in.

gtl2009051713192089.jpg

When I finally got her there and let the mechanics figure it all out Nr. 1, Paulo, comes in too, lapping me in pit!

gtl2009051713200385.jpg

Now some tyre changes and 20 secs later Nr. 3 and 4, Knut and Kevin, come in too! My god, losing time here...

gtl2009051713235939.jpg

The second stint was a pretty boring one cause i was 2 laps down from 4th place and 1 lap in front of the 6th one. But i had one stop/go though, for being to wildly at entering the chicane, hehe.
After that i could keep the times up but had some spins, and with no damage what so ever, except for some bodyparts dented, i could finish the race.

gtl2009051713281821.jpg

Great times and something different from the races i had here on RD... It felled much more realistic, maybe because of the pitstop.

Anyway, TX Stuart and RD for another great relaxing evening filled with alot of heat and focus, haha! Keep it up!:victory:

Excellent race, unfortunately we were only a few...
I only hope for some GTL or P&G races at Mondays or Fridays in future...
I'm a classic car races fan.
One year ago, i managed to get a perfect (at least for me) setup to the CSL.
Since then, i've been able to win 2 Le Mans 80 minutes races (on another community) and some more races where CSL are allowed. Lucky setup. :)

Race went well, despite my second pit stop, due a stop & go penalty for
exciding pit speed limit.

Well done to podium finishers and to all drivers. :yo:

Many thanks to Stuart and RD for this lovely event. :wink2:

Cheers

P.S. The skins are fantastic!

Bit of a mixed bag for me, this one.

Decent pace, nowhere near Paulo's blistering times, but OK, and pretty consistent. My usual stinky qualifying session ensued, got 6th, but there wasn't truckloads between me, Bert (5th) & Kevin (4th), so I was looking forward to some decent scraps. Had some nice dicing with Bert & Tusto (as described so well by Bert above, so I won't bother to rehash the same things), and after a few laps I started to open out a gap from Bert (very slowly) and started to close on Kevin & Knut because they were at each other almost constantly (it looked a hell of a scrap from behind :good: ).

Once Kevin got past however and started to open out a gap from Knut, and they could both just concentrate on their driving, my closing pretty much stopped, and the gap remained failry static for a while. I hada one ridiculous slide where I touched the inside kerb on the S/F straight, just past the pit entrance. Managed to hold it without any damage, but lost me a stack of time. There was one corner I couldn't figure out and using XD, I could see that was where both Knut & Kevin pulled out the advantage on their laps, only 0.2 to 0.4, but that soons adds up. Still, that's the way it goes, and it was fun trying to figure it out anyway.

Briefly took over P1 for a couple of laps as I was fairly heavy on fuel (excessively so, as I finished the race with approx half a tank!) and could pit for tyres later. Did so, and was back in a comfortable 4th, but on the penultimate lap, once I negotiated the last left/right under braking, I could suddenly see Knut's driver tag in the air ahead towards the end of the S/F straight. I hadn't seen that for a while and assumed he'd binned it in T1, but it was hiexiting the pits from his SnG he mentions in his review so I was now in 3rd. Managed to put Bert (after his repair turmoil) between Knut & I, and managed to hold on for a podium.

The CSL's a strange old beast, it starts out like a pig, but once you get the lines, and the tyres up to temp, it's fun to drive. Quite technical, not as much improvisation required as, say the Escort, but the Beemers fast, it just doesn't feel as fast because of the way it has to be driven. The times being done were quite a bit faster than the Escorts, but felt easier, if less hairy.
