Welcome to the new look RaceDepartment

You may or may not know that RaceDepartment is turning 15 years old later this month. Starting life as a site for a small group of drivers to share information on upcoming races, it’s pretty unbelievable to think how far it’s come since those humble beginnings. RD recently passed the 1.6 million registered members mark which is frankly bonkers but it just shows how much the scene has exploded in recent times.

With this exciting milestone approaching we felt it was time to give the old site a bit of a freshen up. Out goes the old look and feel including the logo and in comes a new cleaner UI with a modern brand identity. This signifies the start of a number of changes across the site which will make RD a more valuable experience for you, our visitors.

On the new site you will see a new way to browse news and reviews, the latter of which offering up some pretty powerful user tools to help contribute opinions on products and software. We are also refining the way we publish news. It will be a lot easier to highlight exciting threads from the forums to the front page meaning that we can get the wider community involved in discussions which previously may have been missed.

So, what is there to look forward to in the near future? Firstly the public access to our online racing platform simracing.gp, it goes without saying that there will be some pretty tight integration on the site, seeing and joining upcoming events will be easier than ever. Including some upcoming competitions where you can win some pretty cool sim racing hardware - Stay tuned for that next week.

We are also working on a new set of tools to make finding mods easier. Browsing by car model and type, track regions etc, this will come pretty soon after we have ensured all the existing functionality is working. On the subject of mods, if you are a modder posting your awesome content on RD, stay tuned we have some great news for you guys.

All that is left is to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped RD grow over the years and we hope for another incredible 15 years.

When the past overall change was made (was it 2019 or 2020... ugh, my internal clock is going crazy) it took a while to get used to it. But this one now, I really like it from the get go. Yeah, it will take time to get used to the new logo and some other things, but still, seems like a great improvement
I personally liked it more before, but it definitely looks more modern now. I would change the placement of the game list in the downloads to the left side though, I think its unintuitive, even after getting used to it, since we read from left to right.
I would prefer it if the posts were in the middle of the screen and not slightly towards the left (at least on my 1440p screen everything is slightly moved to the left). And the profile pictures and (now missing) profile information on the left should be bigger imo.
Other than that I really like it! Keep it up!
Alright, not the end of the world. Visual style seems like a slight downgrade from the previous look and feel but it's alright.

Anyone notice the logo looks very rF2-sh? :)

I previously had the site at 120% zoom to read text better. When I saw the new site it looked amateurish but when reset to 100% I realized I no longer needed the zoom and it looks better, tight and refined.

Functionally, it looks mostly the same, so I think I'll get used to it fairly quickly.

Great job, guys, better to be constantly moving forward than stuck in a rut.
You've finally added the "ask a question" button to a prominent place! Maybe now people will stop asking stupid questions in the reviews instead of real reviews...
Looks great!
Small question: mod updates used to be in tabs. Now, when I get into the update section, how do I return to the mod's main page?

I actually don't think the RD logo looks anything like RF2's logo.

If anything, with the font's curves and the colors it makes me think the RD logo was made in tribute to RD's FAVOURITE TRACK: PAUL RICARD!! ;) :roflmao: :roflmao: (I personally love Paul Ricard, even though many here seem to hate Paul and his Technicolor Dreamcoat of runoffs)

In comparison, RF2's logo reminds me of watching a 3D movie without 3D glasses (not meant in an insulting way, it's just what I think of).
I love your new logo and site is more modern now, for me RD is the only i use for consulting new mods, liveries, tracks and news, i think is a reference for every simracer and must be visited for everyone who is at the begining on simracing, thanks to you for all the effort and great things you share with us, i wish another 15 years for RD, congratulations and thank you very much
Hmm, I don't see the option to edit my post above (@VernWozza)...but seriously, look at the two :roflmao: :

I mean the colors are different for the RF2 example, but those overlapping layers....

Hahaha I love the Paul Richard reference, a personal favourite of mine that place.

Seen the rf2 reference a few times but honestly if the colours were different I don’t think anyone would think they are similar. Now, the question is; the colours are quite similar but who had them first? Well, the answer to that is RD, we have used those colours since 2007 and we weren’t about to change them as they are arguably RD’s most effective brand identifier.
I think im getting alerts now for every new post on a watched thread, not just for the newest one since I last checked the thread.

Also it would be nice if the user-navbar would stay at the top (alerts, profile, inbox).
Also, where can i watch/unwatch on mobile?
