TCR Virtual - Still Time To Qualify!

TCR Virtual kicked off last week and races have been running round the clock since. Don't worry there is still plenty of time to qualify and plenty of races to take part in. Head over to Simracing.gp to get involved.

Since the competition opened almost five thousand people have registered to take part. If you missed the announcement for TCR Virtual you can catch up on how the competition works HERE but the TLDR is that it's a unique knockout tournament where it's all about racing and not hotlaps.

To qualify for the actual tournament all you need to do is take part in a qualifying race and not pick up any incidents. Once you have successfully qualified then you will be eligible to take part in the regional knockout tournaments starting on Monday 8th November. From then onwards it really is survival of the fittest with the regional finals taking place in early December.

Now, about the mod. WSC would like to take this opportunity to give everyone an update on the status of the mod and the future of the development.

Hello everyone.
Firstly we would like to thank everyone for taking the time to download the mod and take part in the qualifying phase of the TCR Virtual competition. We have been reading the comments about the mod with a lot of interest and we would like to tell you about the plans we have moving forward.
TCR Virtual is long term project for us and we want to do a lot more in sim racing and we see this as just the start of our efforts. With this in mind we are planning to update the mod not just in the coming days but also in the future also. Our immediate plan is to try and rectify some of the issues that have been highlighted before the start of the regional knockout phase. As much as we would like to say we will fix everything we have to be honest and say we will do as much as we possibly can. However, rest assured that we will aim to improve the overall quality of the mod to standard which all sim racers are happy with.
Our focus is not to add any additional content to the mod pack for the time being but to improve what we already have. We have learned that less is sometimes more. We do intend to add additional cars in the future but the cars we have right now are the cars we will use for the rest of the tournament. We are extremely grateful for the feedback that has been given and we welcome any additional comments you have.
Thank you once again to those who have taken part in the qualifying phase of the competition and good luck in the regional knockouts.
WSC Group.

You may have seen in previous messages from me and Dan at Simracing.gp talking about how this is just the start of the engagment with WSC but they are really taking this seriously and want to make sim racing a big part of their future. From the competition side of things we are really happy with how it's started and we are very excited about the regional knockouts starting as it's a lot of fun.

That's all for now and we look forward to seeing you on track.

Just curious if you could elaborate a bit on what types of mod improvements you'll be working on in the short term. Obviously we'll still have the tournament physics for now, but I guess one of the most important things (at least in my opinion) would be support for CSPs advanced configurations (VAO, RainFX, etc) along with better interiors and higher resolution skins.

Having qualified, I would still like to enter a few races because I lack online experience, but the early Dublin servers (before 20:45 UTC) are not showing up on SimRacing.gp for the last few days. This is 23:45 in my time zone and is too late for me to race. Where are the earlier servers?

Now, of course, they've appeared!

looks like there only one time zone covered per period of day , so dublin one don't start till 18:45 , suppose to give certain parts of the world a better connection

The donwload links for mod and track don't work for me. Any ideas?

I joined the community and it starts downloading for a few seconds ata low speed. Then after a few seconds it say donload failed. :( Shall I try it at another time of the day?

Long-term project with continuous improvements?
Absolute music to my ears.
(Figuratively, I guess, since it was written down. But whatever.)
LET'S GOOOOO

Mainly on the physics side of things for the update after qualifiers. I don't wan't to go too in-depth now, but there will be changes to the aerodynamics, suspension and engine of the car. You will feel the difference when driving the car, and be warned, setups created now may not work as well when the update drops

Some of the features you mention will be implemented following the tournament. But you have to consider 4K skin textures for example can cause lots of issues when racing on large grids, and as you can imagine, a smooth online racing experience should be the priority for a mod like this one

Why the hell I cant find virtual TCR community on simracing.gp? I am logged in, I see TCR Virtual 2021 on the top in open events list but I dont see the related community to join in the list of all communities. Also I am somehow missing the search function on simracing.gp web. Can somebody help me please? Thank you.

Hi can you send us a screenshot of what you see when you click the community tab?

Joined Euro hub and now that I would have time to race all RD1 events are booked full three days in advance? Phew...

Hi guys!

I was wondering about the actual meaning of "The top 50% go through to the next round" on the knock-out heats?

Let's say I was in a server meant for 20 players in which only 18 players signed up and of which only 16 actually raced. If I finished 9th. do I go through to the next round (players that signed up) or not (players that actually raced)? Maybe @Steve Worrell knows the answer to this riddle? Asking for a friend... :coffee:
