rFactor 2 Releases New British F3 Tatuus Car

Studio 397 released a video Wednesday featuring their new Tatuus MSV F-020 car in a lap around Spa Francorchamps in rFactor 2.

In a video released Wednesday on the official Studio 397 YouTube channel, former British F3 driver driver and racing coach Callan O'Keeffe took us on a lap of Spa Francorchamps in rFactor 2 using the latest addition to the racing sim, the Tatuus MSV F-020.

Like the first batch of Tatuus cars for rFactor 2 released in June of 2019, the MSV F-020 has been made available to owners of rFactor 2 for free. This is the same car used in the BRDC British Formula 3 series.

Tatuus’ MSV F-020 features a Mountune 2.0L engine producing 230bhp mated to a 6-speed paddle shift transmission. The dry weight of the car is just 495kg, making the car nimble and surprisingly quick.

The Tatuus cars in rFactor 2 are hard to beat for fans of the lower tiers of open wheel racing. The handling is extremely sharp and puts the onus on the driver to find speed through clean racing lines through the corners rather than brute force down the straightaways.

The Tatuus MSV F-020 is now available for rFactor 2 for free by subscribing to it in the Studio 397 Steam Workshop.

I'm sorry, didn't want to create a debate regarding the AI - I was so passionate about rF2 a couple years ago, feeling was unbeateable and the FFB (also on FWD Cars) is special on the G29. I'll speak with my money not buying DLCs and not discussing it under the news :whistling:

Don’t get me wrong… I would like Studio 397 to improve the AI as well, since I only race against the AI. But, my issue was that this is an article about a new car. AI comments may be better in the Roadmap or build update articles? Let’s stay on topic? I don’t think discussing AI in every rF2 article/topic here will increase the urgency Studio 397 will have on improving it. If that was the case, it would be #1 on their priority list I think.;)

The thing is it is relevant here because all the man-hours used to create this car could have been better used to fix all the inherent problems that plague the sim. I want to love RF2, I've put enough money into it, but every race I run seems to have a problem that ruins the experience so I have put it on the back burner. One of RF2's biggest selling points is its endurance racing. So why when I run a Le Mans 24Hr simulation do most the AIs run out of fuel on the last lap? It's a bit disappointing after spending 2 hrs fighting with them.

This same sentiment is often repeated whenever S397 releases new content (free or paid), but I'm not sure it fully applies. I have no idea how S397 operates, but my guess is the people that make the cars and tracks aren't the same that work on the functional issues . I don't say this to defend issues not being fixed - I'm frustrated by them too. I just don't think continued work on new content necessarily means there is a direct correlation to bug fixes NOT being worked on.

I haven't tried this new car yet, my wheel and pedals are temporarily disconnected from my PC. However, I've spent a fair amount of time in the Tatuus F4 and I like driving it a lot. Sometimes cars that you don't think you'd be interested in end up being really good. I'm finding too that I quite enjoy lower powered cars, you can push them harder before they bite you and just get on with racing. I would love S397 to get a license for the current Global MX-5 Cup.

Sorry to say but the sound quality is horrible. In board but even more so from the outside.
