rFactor 2 | More BTCC Goodies: Honda Civic & Hybrid Boost

In a barrage of news in light of the upcoming Q1 update and content drop, more BTCC-related content has been revealed. Both the Honda Civic Type R as well as the BTCC Hybrid Boost System will be making an appearance in the upcoming update.

I'm sure the Honda Civic Type R needs no introduction to any of you BTCC fans out there. To anyone else:

The Honda Civic Type R is a stalwart member of the BTCC grid. Even though they are not the biggest in terms of number of cars on the field, its drivers showed great prowess, Josh Cook pulling off 5 different race victories in the 2022 season.

Arguably the bigger announcement this time around is the introduction of the BTCC Hybrid Boost to the game.

It has been previously announced that a Hybrid System would come to rFactor 2, that being sorely needed for both BTCC and WEC content. For now, the less intrusive BTCC version has been included. However, this surely serves as the stepping stone for a full-on hybrid system to be added to the simulator later.

Personally, I cannot wait to see the hybrid system being developed more in-depth. After all, it currently looks like rFactor2 is trying to establish itself as the WEC simulator, while iRacing is going for IMSA content. It will be interesting to see which developer pulls it off better.

Both pieces will be available with the upcoming A1 content drop on February 21, 2023.

They could have slapped any version number on it by now.
So many things have been updated and features added.
Very little software is written from the ground up.
And when it's written from the ground up is mostly need years to mature.

To fix inherent issues in any gmotor would require blank sheet.
GTR2 and rF2 still suffer from some similar AI issues ( among other things )
gMotor 2.0 at most had 1 update so how could it mature. ;)
Rather they just passed over the same bugs into 2.5 that are still unfixable after 10 years.

That is rF2's biggest fanboy talking, I am accused of fanatical bias.
Work that one out.

Question for rF2 nerds: will the AI be able to use the hybrid boost system in a human-like way?
In theory everything is possible as they say :p

That said, I think integrating a logic for something like hybrid application used effectively by AI is pretty complex. On one hand AI could be programmed to know at any given time how to effectively use regen settings and when to use the power demand at the cost that the AI feels like it is cheating, but on the other hand I don't see sim developers spending much effort on something like this. Even something like DRS is treated very half hearted in various sims. But on that note AI could be programmed to use it on the straights similar to DRS as that's allready possible. Given the fact that AI is allways running full boost in turbo cars without taking into account the fuel strategy should tell you, that this might be indeed an afterthought.

Not really. The btcc game has been put back to 2024 anyway which was announced mid last year. They made it very clear then that this content would be released for rFactor2 over the course of their quarterly dlc releases. What's so difficult to understand?
Any statement from MSG has to be taken with a grain (or two) of salt. So far, that company has delivered nothing except a catastrophic NASCAR game.

So, I'll believe it when the BTCC game is released.

Some points;

  • Another very decent content drop, this latest BTCC splurge has forced me to reinstall RF2 after a near 2 year absence.
  • I was gonna wait for the AI Slipstreaming issue to be fixed but the recent "Race Against Cars You Don't Own" feature was another reason to reinstall and it works great in the latest RC (a better late than never feature!)
  • I find these forums convoluted, the RF2 section is practically dead yet these News items get pages upon pages of replies. Surely it would be better to place these in the relative section for RF2 not buried elsewhere? (just a thought)

Now it could be great a discount on every DLC to became a big Rfactor2 community, this updates means nothing if not accomplished with cheaper prices!

A dedicated BTCC game would probably mean less sim and more arcade, so I am glad all this content is coming to rF2 in all its sim glory. I don’t believe the MSG BTCC and Le Mans games will ever get released anyway.

I don't get all the fuzz about the MSG content tbh. If those games ever appear, good for those who are looking for something that most likely will resemble the F1 Codies games. But there is a reason why I haven't bought or fired up any of those games in the last ten years. The more content of those series appears in a proper sim the better. But that doesn't seem to matter to some people. I don't care from where the content is coming from as long as it is of high quality and fits into the sim. And it's great that there is a clear focus for the content right now.

In my case, the "fuzz" is caused by the fact that MSG has bought the licenses for series that I would really, really love to be able to race: Indycar, WEC and, to a lesser extent, the BTCC. By doing so, they are preventing better and more serious studios to work on that content.

There was a rumor for a while that Reiza would have an official Indycar license, but that is no longer the case because Indycar gave exclusivity to MSG (even taking away Indycar from iRacing in the process.)

If MSG didn't have exclusive rights to these series, I would not care. But right now, these titles will not appear or if they do, it will be as expensive DLCs for rFactor2, a sim I just don't care for.

Motorsport Games will be bust and no more within a year I reckon. What will happen then I wonder?

At least the DLC’s are of high quality in a game that has taken some major steps lately. And €4.99 for a car and €8.99 for such quality content I don’t consider expensive. Other things in life have become much more expensive over the last 2 years.:D

oh wait I thought of something. 6 STEAM sales a year minimum.
back to <speechless> mode.
6? true, maybe must be the numbers of sales they win with Endurance Pack for just 42€, or maybe 36€ for GT3 pack, or maybe 25€ for 4 Historic Trackpack....super cheap!!! and all of this with the same bugs and the same "easy" way to create a server...muhahaha. I love Rf2 but they need to run with the 2nd chance gave by LFM, they´ll not have a 2nd chance like this...if another game gets LMP or HY like ACC or Rennsport...u can tell bye bye to Rf2...so if they want to survive they need more players, more communities and the best and easy way is cheaper DLC´s ....just compare..
ACC Challengers DLC 5 cars...4.65 €
ACC American Pack DLC 3 tracks....10,99 €
ACC GT4 DLC 11 cars.....5,05 €
ACC GTworld DLC 2 cars +1 track...0,89€
ACC Game....4,87€
no u can come back to speechless mode

Every man for himself.
Mods? with any real data? tracks without being laser scanned or ripped from other games? i know like Assetto Corsa stuff modding
don´t lie to yourself, best content is released by Studio397

D
No discounts, pay up or watch videos of it.

I think you and others well know what I meant.
The section of community that constantly bashed rF2 and ISI to death, yeah the only guy could have possibly given us gmotor3.0.

Beside that why should any community not supported rF2 get cheaper subs then what all the loyal patrons have gotten.

Community still constantly bagging it, can anyone honestly tell me Steam @ 68% positive in the last month is right ? :roflmao: At the very same time they say drop prices when they are barely keeping there head above water as it is.

Fair suck of the sauce bottle :coffee:

P.S Triple the sales, get that Steam rating back where it belongs and we can talk about cheaper DLC.

One thing they could fix is Brand Hatch, still has that errant 0kb txt file included.

Also why not possible to include all PSD in another folder say " Templates " which would make it quicker to browse and the workshop folder with nothing but rfcmps.

So S397 isn't serious enough? Are you f*cking serious? You just need to follow the recent updates throughout February and the years before to understand that they are not sitting around having a wank enjoying a drink on their golded yacht while Paul Jeffreys is playing the DJ.

I mean, what else should they do to really convince people that they are serious about their product than offering huge changelogs and ongoing bugfixes and content drops and updates? Throughout February there have been SIX updates to the RC alone in reaction to user feedback. I don't get it. What are other developers doing so much better that they deserve it more? Nobody really cared for the last 20 years and all of a sudden everyone is sh*tting his pants, while all the options that we ever had are still around. Reiza never had an Indycar lisence so please stop that nonesense. And iRacing didn't want to create a game for Indycar, so Indycar went elsewhere. How is that about rumors?
