RaceRoom Releases A 1,400 Horsepower Electric Mustang

RaceRoom Racing Experience has released a new car in the form of the Ford Mustang Mach E 1400.

Sector 3 Studios has been hard at work bringing new cars and tracks to RaceRoom Racing Experience. Recently they’ve added the Circuit Paul Armagnac and the resplendent Mercedes AMG GT4 2020 to the sim, and they’ve teased the release of Assen circuit.

But today’s release came as a surprise to most in the sim racing community. The Ford Mustang Mach E 1400 was added to the RaceRoom Store. This is a one-off track and drift car designed by Ford Performance and RTR. And there’s a twist. The 1,400-horsepower car is all-electric. It’s a one-off project, and the car has only been driven by a select few drivers.

The car houses seven electric motors and a 56.8-kilowatt-hour battery made up of nickel manganese cobalt pouch cells. The aero fit-out includes a massive rear wing and large canards fitted to the front of the car. The combined efforts of the aero pieces and the motors propelling the car to 160 miles per hour produces roughly 2,300 pounds of downforce.

In sim, the has many of the characteristics we’ve come to expect from an electric performance car. The instantly available torque produces staggering acceleration, but the weight of the batteries ultimately limits its cornering possibilities. This is less of an issue for the Mach E 1400 given that the car was never touted to be a lap record breaking machine, but rather a fun toy capable of impressive feats in the hands of someone like Vaughn Gittin Jr.

Sector 3 has done a great job translating that level of fun into RaceRoom. It won’t fit into any race series, and the all-electric speed title in RaceRoom will remain with the Volkswagen ID. R, but for those looking for a fun escape this could be a good option. Given the limited battery life of the car, the best way to enjoy the car may be in Time Trial mode which removes fuel consumption for the session.

The Ford Mustang Mach E 1400 is now for sale through the RaceRoom Store. If you’ve tried this car or have any thoughts related to it, share them in the comments below.

Kudos to Sector3 for being always innovative, and still support their well polished game, a unfairly overlooked gem.

That said, and regarding this car in particular, i kind of outgrown scalectrix some years ago.

I also like how people try to defend a heavyweight, high center of gravity vehicle as anything "sporty". Thats akin to saying a Renault magnum is sporty. It has massive torque, impressive acceleration for its size, and even better range than anything electric. I am sure its Euro NCAP rating is also 5 starts, virtue of smashing everything in it's path.

Irony aside, no battery electric vehicle in this world could ever do a full F1 grand prix, at anything close to the speed of an F1 car.

No electric vehicle can sustain high top speeds for any meaningfull period of time either.

That dooms the whole battery electric concept as inferior from the start, if we are talking about performance.

Most modern sims have some sort of Server component. Some of the biggest power drains in the entire world, or so I've read, are the Google Server farms. While the local impact of your 2000+$$ vid card running 3 screens and butt shakers and a fan aimed at your sweaty crotch..(admit it...we alllll have one) may not be too environmentally taxing, the full spectrum of computer gaming certainly eats a large chunk of the daily electric pie.
Yeah, you're right!! I guess single player racing was on my mind, but yeah, servers are a substantial piece of the world's energy usage nowadays, very true. Anyway, not to turn the comments section off the rails into a discussion about environmentalism.

Not piling on the car, but I really wonder what that 1,400hp would do in something lighter, and primarily built for racing or time attacks? The "SUVs and Trucks only" direction that Ford took with this is one of the biggest problems I have with the car. In a way my bias doomed it from the start. But I did at least purchase it before trying it out. I do like when developers take chances and offer something different. (I wish the shopping carts were permanent. LOL)

Back to the Mach-E. As a drift-mobile I guess it's fine, even though getting it to flick into a drift seems to be impossible, AWD doesn't lend its self to power oversteer. So the only way to get it sliding may be to pull the hand brake... Great! It's the one button I don't have mapped to my steering wheel.

Needless to say, I didn't get to experience any sideways action with it. Was anyone else able to get it sliding? How did it do?

Not quite my thing, but I'll test it out all the same.

This I think is part of a competition, so my assumption is Ford may have done a deal with Sector3 to represent the car in the game, launch a competition for it, marketing, publicity, etc.

If it helps Sector3 financially then that's fine by me, if you don't like it, don't buy it, no problem :)

Changing the subject slightly, the SUV thing is something else at the moment. I think for Porsche the Cayenne for example still takes their biggest amount of sales. Lamborghini can't make the Urus fast enough (Ferrucio will be rolling in his grave! lol)

I know that for car manufacturers they are now their bread and butter earnings wise (and allows them to make other models) but even I was surprised when I went to my local Jaguar dealer to have a casual look around the other day and this was their used or nearly new stock list....

No Jaguar XJ's
1 x Jaguar XE
No Jaguar XF
1 x Jaguar F Types

7 x Jaguar E Pace Electric SUV
15 x Jaguar F Pace SUV
5 x Jaguar I Pace SUV

Chatting to the salesman, their sales of the saloon cars have dropped to almost nothing, everyone is SUV'ing now.

Maybe if I had three children they would appeal but to me they do nothing for me, each to their own though. The SUV/Crossover thing is here to stay in a big way...

I've come to the conclusion either the real world car is atrocious or the R3E model is not finished. Perhaps both are true. Certainly, in R3E most of the set-up options are locked and cannot be adjusted.

This one doesn't have a top speed.
Probably the only electric car (so far) that I've ever actually wanted in a sim game.
Trust me, in its current form you will not want to drive it again after the first try. It is "interesting" in the Chinese curse way: "May you live in interesting times!"

Alternatively, the XJ,XE,XF, and F are so popular they have few available, whilst everyone hates the SUV's and so there are more on the forecourt. Like all car salesmen, he is telling you the car he cannot give away is "the most popular." Hint: If it has "Pace", "Swift", "Sport", or "Competition" in the name, it is likely a "three-legged greyhound" on the road.

Just drove next to a brand new F type Coupe(?). VERY NICE! I've worked in a neighborhood that had a F Type convertible. Always sounded glorious even at slow speeds.
