RaceRoom Racing Experience | New Hotfix Update Released

Sector3 Studios have today released a new update for their RaceRoom Racing Experience title - adding a number of minor fixes and esport liveries for an upcoming competition.

The new build should be available to download next time players restart their Steam clients, and comes complete with a number of fixes and improvements to the simulation as well as a collection of esport liveries for an upcoming CUPRA esport series.

Most changes deployed to the simulation as part of this update focus on background improvements to the software, with much of the work dedicated to shared memory block additions and some minor fixes to various aspects of the title - as detailed below.

Download size = 315 MB
Client version = 0.9.2.38
Client BuildID = 6680013
Dedicated version = 74.0.1295
Dedicated BuildID = 6680156

Changelog:
  • Fixed an issue where the checkered flag could sometimes show up one lap early in multiclass races
  • Upon serving a slowdown penalty, the lift of throttle coming with the sequential shifting is no longer counted as slowing down
  • Shared Memory block: added engineState int for all drivers; -1 unavailable, 0 = ign off, 1 = ign on but not running, 2 = ign on and running
  • Shared Memory block: added lap_valid_state for player; -1 = N/A, 0 = this and next lap valid, 1 = this lap invalid, 2 = this and next lap invalid
  • Shared Memory block: added traction_control_percent for player; -1.0 unavailable, 0.0 -> 100.0 percent
  • Shared Memory Block: Attempt at improving Lap distance calculations where values could sometimes be seen jumping and going backwards
  • Shared Memory block: upped minor version to 10
  • For Shared Memory API, refer to our github repo
  • Physics: When starting a Hillclimb run, the tyres will now always be pre-heated.
  • Spectator: Fixed cars falling through the ground at the very end of races.
  • Spectator: Fixed an issue where the wrong car is shown upon switching to another type of TV cameras.
  • Dedicated Server: Banning a user still required a server restart to take effect. Fixed that now so that if a player is kicked, the dedicated server will also prevent it from immediately rejoining the server.
  • Content - Added CUPRA esport liveries for the upcoming CUPRA series.

I haven't been racing on Raceroom in a while but I did some touring car races the other night with about 8 people so not a huge grid.

Some of the most enjoyable racing I've had in a while. Everything on max, at 4k on the TV. Looked really good and I thoroughly enjoyed every lap.

I also love the fact that we have out of the ordinary tracks as well as the usual suspects. A great selection.

It's a good title, yes it has it's faults but there is no sim title that is perfect.

I need to treat myself to the Group C cars! lol

There are always smokin' deals to be had on Raceroom. I detailed this in another forum, but I need to practice at Watkins Glen for a real life race and the iRacing version is insulting. I checked RRRE and their version is fairly new and was priced at $6.08. The track is also included in the American Tracks back, and because I own about 98% of the content, I only didn't own Watkins and Daytona. They were charging me only $5.25 for the rest of the American track pack though, so two tracks for less than one. But, because I bought 5000 vRP last year (for $35), when I added it to the cart, they added it at 471 vRP. So if you're supposed to pay roughly $1 per 100 vrp, they gave me an additional discount there. I also added the Euro track packs which gave me Portimao and Brands GP for $5.25. Then I added the starter pack (which had some cars recently added like the a 2020 DTM car) for just over 100 vrp.

Doing the math:
5000 vRP for $35 = 147 vRP / $1
471 vRP for 2 tracks, or 236 for Watkins Glen
236 vRP / 147 vRP = $1.60 paid for the track

Compared to $12 retail at iRacing (I actually bought 3 tracks for $40 including the Nordschleife) for an outdated version, and the fact that I can use this long after my iRacing subscription runs out in 3 months (it will not be renewed), RRRE is very generous. Looking forward to the FFB update too. R3E is serviceable if not pretty good, but I enjoy PC2 and AMS2 a lot more.
