RaceRoom goes Indianapolis: A brand-new version of the circuit is now part of the sim – including the legendary oval that is the home of the Indy 500 since 1911. To celebrate the release, the new track is 50% off for a limited time.

Indy is not entirely new to RaceRoom, a 2012 version of the track has been available in the sim already. Now, there is an up-to-date version that features three layouts: Two road course versions, namely the one that the IndyCar series has been using since 2014, and one that uses more of the infield and the banked final turn – plus the 2,5 mile oval that hosts one of the biggest races in the world each year.

This does not mark the oval premiere of RaceRoom, though: The Daytona International Speedway features an oval layout as well, which is listed as “not supported”, however, and is not used in official sessions as a result. This designation is absent from the Indy oval, the layout is the central element of the release – a video and a screenshot that RR used to promote the release underline that.


Special oval rules like full-course yellows are not part of RaceRoom so far and have not been part of the Indy addition either, and the IndyCars in the sim, officially called Formula RaceRoom US, do not have their speedway aero configurations available. It is possible that these things will be added in the future – especially since there is another oval at the Lausitzring, which has five road course layouts so far, waiting to be fully realized.

After the release of the TT Circuit Assen, which has been added to the track roster in mid-January, Indianapolis marks the second release for RaceRoom in 2022. Until February 2nd, the new version of Indy is 50% off in the RaceRoom store – a great opportunity to try the circuit. Owners of the previous version will have to buy the new one separately, as this is not an update to the existing track.

I have triple 1440p. With everything maxed out, the view going down the main straight seemed choppy.
is it a case of the framerate not feeling smooth or is it just going low. I’ve had cases in Raceroom where the framerate is showing as steady but it just doesn’t feel great. Sometimes you can get a better result using the settings in Nvidia control panel but I’m yet to find a simple one off fix. I’m on a 3700x and a 3080.

Turns out the issue was I had the GPU temperature limit set low. After fixing that, RaceRoom was very smooth at max settings.
 
Is it time for Sector 3 to edit "A track always comes with all available layouts included" that appears on each of its track pages in store?
