Polyphony Digital Takes Us For a 4K Ride at Daytona

Polyphony Digital shared a 4K video of both onboard and TV replays of a lap at Daytona International from the upcoming Gran Turismo 7.

Just 50 days remain until the release of Gran Turismo 7 to PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, and developer Polyphony Digital is showing more of what players can expect on release day.

The latest teaser is a 4K video shared to both YouTube and the official Gran Turismo Twitter account, which shows a racing Porsche weaving through traffic on a lap of Daytona International Speedway. Both the onboard footage and a TV replay are featured in the video.

The footage from the game is undoubtedly gorgeous, but if the current footage is indicative of the driving experience at release, it looks to be much the same as Gran Turismo Sport, a title that didn't meet the standards of many hardcore sim fans.

Gran Turismo 7 is set to be released on March 4th of this year, and all indications so far point to a return to the Gran Turismo series' roots. Players will be able to grow and customize a huge car collection, and many of favourite fantasy tracks will be making a return.

Will you be playing GT7 on release, waiting for reviews, or are you not interested at all? Let us know in the comments below.

i dont mind gt games having rather simcade driving physics, i am not looking for rf2 or acc kind of physics in gt games and thats why it will never be the measurement stick for me when it comes to this series.
but i will say that i think they missed an opportunity here to offer a lower res 120fps performance mode.
you cant tell me that a 10 TF machine can't run the gt sport engine in 120fps and on top of that with the magic of the console optimizations. 60fps in a track focused racing game is not that acceptable anymore in 2022.
also they would need to try and add some more rubber and dirt on the track and on the cars, it all looks a bit too clinical for my taste, make it feel more lived-in
another thing they might want to add is the option to change fov or at least move the seat forward without changing fov. that driving position basically from the backseat is annoying, as it is in forza games.

i am also looking forward to the next forza motorsport game, it will truly be again a battle of the console racers between these two.
chances are forza motorsport could impress graphically more than GT7 given the fact its developed purely for the Series consoles and PC while GT7 basically is a PS4 era game with an update to PS5.

Looks great but I ask myself why it is a $500 console can get graphics like that and my PC crashes when I try and run ACC or AMS2 with mid-range settings at 1080p and forget about at night or in the rain.
Maybe your PC has to do more work for ACC/AMS2, like calculating the more advanced physics you enjoy so much.

The car engine sounds alone put me off. Yes it has always been compared to vacuum cleaner sounds and not much has changed. The downshifts are just dreadful sounding. And its just too "clean" does not feel as gritty as racing should be. I don't have ps5 and won't be buying this for ps4 either. The cars look totally awesome but its just eyecandy glossing over the shortcomings. GT sport was a load of rubbish with its stupid, staged races that were so lame and boring that it just made you sorry you bought the damned game. Visual without the Visceral excitement.

Compared it to AC... and....
It's almost as if someone has purposely doctored the sound on one to try to make a point. I've seen it done to graphics many a time, says more about the poster than the games.

It's 2022 and some still say "simcade" in both derogatory and elitist terms.
This is why, as I mentioned in the WRC 10 thread, I tend to gloss over opinions coming from anyone who uses "simcade" in their arguments. I bet at least some of them have never even tried Gran Turismo because they're too master race to consider playing on console.

Many of the tired old criticisms levied at GT were dealt with in Sport; the core physics are very good, sport mode lets you quickly enter races with closely matched opposition or compete in online championships, and there's plenty of customization options for league racing including a heavy mechanical damage option (easier to get damage, can only fix by pitting).

The only thing GT continues to lag well behind in is AI. But I remain hopeful that 7 will allievate this issue, considering the heavy focus on single player and traditional game features in the marketing.

God damn lots of triggerd simracing guys in here. I don't play these titles but what the hell is the hate about? It looks great and if you want to have some racing aspects on your PS5 this is obviously a great game to get.

Gran Turismo is a stepping stone to simracing and it has a lot of gameplay elements that sims never will get.

I'm shocked by the comments if I'm being honest....

Not impressed at all. Shadows look terrible, buttons and switches on the wheel look terrible and toyish like, framerate looked bad too. And looks like AI from AC1, a train of cars with minimal reaction....
If GT7 had AI like in AC that would be a huge win for PDI and GT players, make no mistake about that. Unfortunately it looks like typical GT AI.
