PC Building Giant Linus Tech Tips Builds Dream Sim Rig

Linus Tech Tips, best known for PC building and computer hardware reviews, has assembled a high-end sim racing setup.

It's so common for online personalities to post content featuring their sim racing rigs that we forget it how far our hobby has come in recent years. The latest big name to shine a light on the sim racing world is Linus Tech Tips. The Vancouver based online media giant posted a video featuring a new sim rig build with some impressive gear.

The video, titled "Building the ULTIMATE Racing Setup", amassed nearly one million views in the first day. The premise of the video was the LTT team building a triple-4K sim racing setup with motion.

Here are the major components used:
The test drive was done at the Nurburgring Nordschleife in Assetto Corsa. Nords is a tough track for even an experienced sim racer, but Linus' inexperience and frustrations were evidently overcome by the huge fun factor of this incredible setup.

A high profile content creator like Linus Tech Tips is another sign of the growth of sim racing, and a nice showcase of some of the great gear you can find in the RaceDepartment Store.

Are there any components of the Linus Tech Tips build that are on your wishlist? Is there anything you agree or disagree with in the build based on your own experiences? Let us know in the comments below.

Stupid new trend with youtubers reacting to other youtubers material. What kind of loser you must be to do that.
Funnily enough this "new trend" is a big part of how YouTube came to be so popular back in its beginnings...people posting responses to other people's videos. Before the YouTube era rebranded it as "react videos", it was also frequently known as "keeping a discussion going". So yes, something that only a special kind of loser tends to do nowadays.

The jump from 9900K (tuned) to the 12900K (tuned) + DDR4 @ 4000Mhz (tuned) is very high in VR according to a friend of mine who did that investment.

Hope it wasn't confirmation bias :)

Yeah, me and VR are like, " what ? No you ain't goin on ma head, makin me dizzy, cockeyed and hot. Get away from me".

I have the opposite. I don't feel the sense of 3D that much, haven't since like the 1st 15-30min of playing in VR.
Another thing I don't really experience is the sense of speed some claim to have when driving in VR.

Still I really prefer VR due to the immersion and not having to drag my screen(s) around, as I don't have a dedicated rig (just a NLR Wheelstand DD) and also have to work at the same desk.

Actually only got my stomach twisted up once, with one space game demo. It had the tutorial level with a space ship that was:
- laggy in response
- constantly kept momentum
- indoor hangar!
That's a combination to make you sick very fast lol. They didn't think that level through.

Well... ultimate can't be with a Fanatec DD2, sure, it's good, but a far cry from the best.
And.. ultimate can't be with those smallish screens and... not even aligned. To the very least, he should have mounted the monitors properly and used a bezel free kit.

It's the ultimate 'consumer friendly' setup. I.e. only mainstream consumer products that are as much plug & play as possible, for the average gamer with deeper than average pockets :)
