Over 200 Skins / Skin Packs Released on RaceDepartment Already This Year

2023 Liveries on RD 01.jpg
Our talented modding community here at RaceDepartment has been hard at work already in 2023, and have produced a huge amount of new or improved liveries for you to download today.

One of the most popular sections of RaceDepartment over past the decade and a half has been the skins sections. Adding more realistic, improved, fictional, artistic or just funny liveries to your favourite sim racing cars is one of the easiest ways to improve your experience.

Our incredible members here at RD have released over 200 new or updated skins already in 2023, with just over 10 days having passed so far in January.

The lion’s share of these skins belongs to Assetto Corsa, though many have been added to Assetto Corsa Competizione, art of rally and Automobilista 2 as well.

Many tribute skins to the recently deceased and well-loved Ken Block have been appearing and have extended well beyond cars we associated with the drift and HillClimb legend.

We’ve also seen individual skins and skin packs helping to flesh out race series ranging from CART to BTCC to LMP3. Whereas default skins can be immersion-breakers, having correct skins surrounding you on the track can help you feel like you’re experiencing the real thing.

We appreciate all our members here at RaceDepartment. If you’ve recently found a skin that you just had to download, or if you’re a creator and have released a skin you’re proud of, drop a description and link in the comments below.

I didn't realize it was against RD policy since it's just that common...
That's probably an extreme case, some are blatant and are easily dealt with, but we do rely on creators with the experience to help by reporting.
We do get some that are wrong even some that are malicious but you learn the reporters you can trust because of their knowledge.
I don't want to drag this on it would be a shame to spoil a discussion celebrating our wonderful livery creators.

Finally decided at the end of last year to try the livery thing. Nothing fancy, but my own car livery in AC, ACC, RF2, AMS2, and PC2. Did it in Photoshop and looked at youtube videos. I have no artistic talent whatsoever, but I am pleased with them.

So you're happy to come on here and snipe in an article but can't use the button we have on every download to report things like that.
It's unreasonable to expect us to have knowledge of every type of upload and we rely on those who do to report things so we can take action.
If you're expecting your users to do your job for free, you're delusional. Plus, you conveniently glossed over the fact that your own rules make it 100% ok for just skins to be released, even if they're intended for mods of questionable origins, like I've already said and you chose to ignore from my previous post. You're not suggesting your users to abuse the report function for things that are not breaking any rules, are you?

So either:
-You rewrite the rules to only allow for content that is already available on RD (no addon content for mods not hosted here)
-You enforce manual approval for each submission to review the content before letting it go live
-You hire somebody who's entire job would be to sit on the downloads page, hit F5 every 60 seconds and manually make sure that all of the content hosted here is not meant to be used with questionable mods

I have no artistic talent whatsoever, .(..)
In that case, I'd better stick to matchstick drawings.
Your job is absolutely wonderful!

Digging into my memory think I've only done a single completed skin, dating back nearly a quarter of a century to the Grand Prix 2 league days. Very, very simple (almost at matchstick level), but it was definitely an eye-catcher on the grid, unfortunately not enough to distract the competition :D

wishing for the skinners to ditch Rollovers and all other crap LMP2 for the URD one...not much IMSA action for the LMP3s (found only 3 for 2022 with apologies for not being accurate)...

Good to read an article about liveries and skinning!

Myself, I contribute modestely on my freetime to the already wide and versatile AC skin production.

I would say that with the pleasure of painting, I get a high pleasure in preparation, documentation, reading and detail checking.
Though this part is sometime chronophage, it's greatly rewarding when one find the correct needed stuff for a peculiar car or a driver.
At the end, for a reason or another, nothing can't pretend being perfect in the final result, but the quest still remains!

I am generally attracted by old american sport cars livery, as I can find here some great artisanal liveries, and not so many stickers, but the subject can always vary, of course.

For those who don't know me and would be curious, here is my ressources page.

Happy simracing to everyone!

PS and other 2D software is OK but painting on a 3D model is way easier

I'm a creator!
I'm very proud of the last skin i made. I'm a detail maniac and this skins is one of the best i made since i started as a kid on console with NFS:roflmao:
Is the brand new #46 WRT BMW M4 gt3 for ACC, driven also by the Doctor, Valentino Rossi. No need to presentation for it, as we are on RD. Everybody knows...

Just hit 100 downloads in 15 hours!

The skin of the winning car of the 24H of Dubai, the WRT #7, is coming along, whit the same level of detail.

Indeed.

Thanks to all the Skinning Soldiers, the Livery Labourers and the Decal Donors.

All work is highly appreciated!

It seems that perhaps this aspect of sim-racing is often overlooked with regards to the appreciation shown, so it's great that RD is recognising the enduring efforts of those who contribute in this way.

Thanks! :)
