New Formula 1 car coming to Automobilista 2

New Formula car AMS2.jpg
Reiza Studios have teased the latest addition to Automobilista 2 on Twitter. The images appear to show a 2022 Formula One car, there’s no mistaking the shape of the rear wing, or flares above the front wheels - this is definitely a ground effect Formula One car.

If you’ve been living under a rock, you may not know that the regulations for Formula One have had a massive overhaul.

With previous regulations, a following car would lose 35% of their downforce when racing within 20 metres of the car ahead. That loss of downforce could increase to 47% if the following car got within 10 metres of the car ahead.

The bodies of these cars are cleaner which means the aerodynamic grip has been lessened, however a lot of downforce has been gained back by channelling air underneath these cars.

From what we’ve seen over the first two races, the regulations appear to work, it is easier for cars to follow and so we should see closer racing in 2022.

We aren’t expecting any licensed cars, this will most likely be a F-class car and will sit somewhere around AMS2’s current F-Ultimate car - which are based on the 2019 F1 car.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited to try the latest generation of F1 cars in AMS2?

No we don”t need more modern “on rails” cars! We need more group C, group 5, Porsche 917, Ferrari 512, etc.! Way more exiting cars to drive!
And we badly need a PnG implementation.
And 1950ies race cars.
And 1930ies grand prix cars.
And classic and deceased tracks as Targa Florio, CDR, Tripoli, Pescara, Crystal Palace, Riverside, Texas World Speedway RC, Keimola ...and 1967 versions of Mexico City, Siracusa, Longford, The Glen and Mosport..oh, and ofcouse the Fuji Speedway with the massive 1st corner Daiichi dive banking.

And we want it all and we want it for free and in just one silent patch.

:D

No seriously, I'm extremely satisfied with Reiza's constant improvements. I think my satisfaction is due when acquired near 15 months ago, I regarded it as something between a mod and an overhaul of my older Reiza sims Copa Petrobras de Marcas and Stockcar Extreme with rebuild physics and newer graphics engine, and with content you own (and will not be removed) and at a very fair price IMO and knowing Reiza is sim enthusiasts, mostly on the right direction ... AAND since I haven't paid a penny more since acquired AMS2 + 2020-2021 Season Pack,
but Reiza still however continuing adding and refine content to my Reiza folder, I just take every patch and hotfix as a huge gift.

...well ok BANG have to mention again when we're at it:

The combo 1983 Rothman Porsche 956 at a bumpy and nonforgiving 1983 track version of Nordschleife is still missed out by the official sim developers!

OK think it's time to activate my Reiza forum account and send a wishlist.

Myself I'm not that into open wheelers as I have been, though the Gen1-3 F1 and similar USA stuff is a pleasure to drive, at least for me.

But quite fickle-minded about an up-to-date F1 car model without a license, leaving such a sim model questionable.
Is the sim feeling real? How much is just a guess and how much is insider knowledge?

Otherwise I'll just regard a F-22 model as a playtool, just like simming a lawnmover at Talladega in AC.

But again, regarded AMS2 as a 'mod' just like I regarded Copa Petrobras de Marcas as an ISI rF1 overhaul mod, it's fine with me, dropping a free submod in my pocket :)

Edit: With my T300RS-GT + T8HA (either 8H or seq.) I've had no FFB issues whatsoever since the big patch upgrade during summer 2021 with introduction of FFB+.

Very much looking forward to racing this car, I think the devs do a fantastic job so this is the nearest I'm going to get to a 2022 car.
But I do agree with a certain sentiment, namely fleshing out existing classes.
Logic dictates that if you add legendary car A, you add B, C,D etc.

I hope the devs have a rethink and make classes have a minimum of 5 cars.
Commit yourselves damn it, commit!!!

I know you were jokingly exaggerating, but hey, count me in on all of that :D

Those are questions you should have with any car in any sim. Just because a car is a few years old or a studio has a license deal with a manufacturer doesn't mean they get all the info they need. Aris said even their cooperation with the SRO didn't bring them full sets of data on the cars and there still was guesswork involved, especially on tires.

That's not entirely correct.

For AMS2 (and 1):

DRS on GP tracks in races for modern era F1 will be activated/allowed, if you are in the 1s window behind your opponent in front in the detection zone before the DRS activation zone! (So ruleset of F1 applies)

"Unrestricted" DRS for cars like the MetalMoro AJR is allowed everywhere, no matter the zones.
You are entirely correct, my mistake

Good point.
Aris should have multible more viewers on his insightful channel. Been away from viewing it and missed out on that one.

But other times even unofficial mods are bulls eye in relation to the real deal. I've sadly given up finding a Suzuki Swift Sport mod of which I downloaded via now deceased NGR site. Found other versions, but they're more or less missing out. I used the mod in GTR2 for preparation of Nordschleife real life experince some 12 years ago.
When the time came, I was surprised how close to reality the car mod was - both chassis stiffness, tyre modelling, gearing, feeling of camber/toe related to my fictional setup.

I say this as a full blown Reiza/AMS1/AMS2 fanboy and a person who plays open wheel 99% of the time and will be super excited to take these for a spin; It seems we've reached the point in AMS2's lifecycle where the mountain of little things that keep falling to the wayside in favor of new content has reached the height it will never be conquered. It's fine and all as the game has reached a point where I can hop in and always have fun. But it's another sim that won't ever be feature complete.

Oh. Don't leave me dillusional with that impression. Otherwise I have to re-settle with an oppinion of mine more patches ago: "I don't really need anything new".
Reiza's attempt and constant developement gave me THE hope for the sim future. Especially with the major FFB update some 9 months ago.

In almost every patch release list I've read it had included bug fixes. So leaving me calm that AMS2 is not that hit-and-miss travelling from combo to combo.
I agree theres still areas left for improvement on the physics model.

AMS2 is still way less hit-and-miss than PC2 - a sim cade if which I use for sim for a tiny number of sim functional combos.
When I acquired AMS2 on newyears day 2021 my impression was that AMS2 was even worse than PC2. But Reiza's work since has made a huge difference on my AMS2 perspective.

I'll not regard AMS2 'as is' simwise. I understand they tease the market with new models - and the latest teaser with an obvious goal of big audience.
But if they stop the physics dev, I hope the splendid sim modding world is able to take over.

Yes. AMS2 has improved so much since the 1.0 release. I bought it on release day and asked for a refund the day later, because it felt all wrong. But I decided to give it another shot a few days later and I stuck with it. I'm really glad I did, because it is now a favorite of mine. I spend about 60% of my simracing time on it. There are cars that I don't care for in it, but all the open-wheel cars, the Brazilian stock cars and the Brazilian endurance cars make it worth buying. They have really improved the GT cars. I'm looking forward to the new F1 cars.

The current 2022 F1 cars are quite different per constructor so I wonder which one they will base it on. A slow Mercedes or a fast Ferrari? :D

I think I might give recreating porpoising a go later in AC, now I'm curious.
And I think we have someone here who confuse sim(plified) physics with RL physics.
Because even the team intern sim(ulators) does only operate on a rather small spectrum of the extremely diverse physical laws that is functioning out in the real non(simplified) reality.
So good luck with your AC recreation of porpoising :roflmao:
