New Formula 1 car coming to Automobilista 2

New Formula car AMS2.jpg
Reiza Studios have teased the latest addition to Automobilista 2 on Twitter. The images appear to show a 2022 Formula One car, there’s no mistaking the shape of the rear wing, or flares above the front wheels - this is definitely a ground effect Formula One car.

If you’ve been living under a rock, you may not know that the regulations for Formula One have had a massive overhaul.

With previous regulations, a following car would lose 35% of their downforce when racing within 20 metres of the car ahead. That loss of downforce could increase to 47% if the following car got within 10 metres of the car ahead.

The bodies of these cars are cleaner which means the aerodynamic grip has been lessened, however a lot of downforce has been gained back by channelling air underneath these cars.

From what we’ve seen over the first two races, the regulations appear to work, it is easier for cars to follow and so we should see closer racing in 2022.

We aren’t expecting any licensed cars, this will most likely be a F-class car and will sit somewhere around AMS2’s current F-Ultimate car - which are based on the 2019 F1 car.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited to try the latest generation of F1 cars in AMS2?

Speaking of DRS, in AMS2, as in pC2, it works as such: if there are DRS zones, it is possible to activate DRS inside of them, regardless of the distance from the car in front; Otherwise it is possible to activate it in any part of the track.

That's not entirely correct.

For AMS2 (and 1):

DRS on GP tracks in races for modern era F1 will be activated/allowed, if you are in the 1s window behind your opponent in front in the detection zone before the DRS activation zone! (So ruleset of F1 applies)

"Unrestricted" DRS for cars like the MetalMoro AJR is allowed everywhere, no matter the zones.

A bit too late imho, people have been asked (begged) for this kind of modern f1 since the AMS2 release. Licenced or generic it didn't matter. Imagine where AMS2 could be If effort has been focused in this area. AMS2 should have focused itself on open wheel cars both modern and classic since the beginning. Now this new car may loose its value and become a just a "random" addition content added to the sim. To give the sim a chance I may buy it if packed with a bunch of new additional paid F1 tracks as DLC at affordable price.

Not my cup of tea, but if it's free I won't complain.

More interested in Reiza improving the core game, overall polish and fixing a large chunk of long standing bugs in the next build.

For those wondering about what physics could be improved....
Slicks faster than wets in the rain
Wets having better grip than street tires and able to last in dry 45c+ track temps in 20min race with minimal wear.
The ease of power drifting through corners with the stock cars for faster times and lacking corner exit grip, reported by a couple pro stock car drivers as not realistic.
The go karts have been riddled with issues since the titles launch...latest issue, is overheating brakes after a lap and a terminal damage bug.
Update the remaining cars base tunes that didn't make the last build.
An updated FFB recommendations thread by the devs and some in-game explanations of each feature would be greatly appreciated.

The game has improved alot from the titles launch but it still has a ton of bugs and polish needed in every aspect of the title for it to really gain popularity.

Not sure why my post deserved a 'haha' reaction, as I was simply wanting to read what you wrote above...

Hate comments like needs improving when comparing to 'blah blah blah', as if those other titles are guaranteed to be 100% realistic, which they are most likely not.

I am a bit curious. When I watch the races, these cars look like they are hard to drive. I wonder what the virtual versions of these cars will be like. It is more a curiosity for me than real genuine excitement.
