Motorsport Games Releases More Interesting Details on NASCAR 21

Developer Motorsport Games has provided more details on next NASCAR title, which will include a new physics engine, a new graphics engine, and further car customization.

George Holmquist of Motorsport Games recently provided details to IGN about their forthcoming NASCAR 21 title. Not only will the title benefit from Motorsport Games’ acquisition of Studio 397 and share a physics engine with rFactor 2, but also receive a bump in aesthetics thanks to the use of the Unreal graphics engine.

The famed rFactor 2 physics engine will undoubtedly provide Motorsport Games with a capable tool for delivering a pure racing simulation if they choose. How far they take those capabilities remains to be seen, however. Recent NASCAR Heat titles have skewed strongly toward more casual gamers, so it might be unrealistic to expect the next title to have every aspect of the rFactor 2 physics implemented. Check out our review of NASCAR Heat 5 to learn more about the current state of the series.

On the graphics front, the utilization of the Unreal Engine elicits a sense of cautious optimism. KartKraft and Assetto Corsa Competizione are both Unreal Engine based racing titles, and both have excellent graphics as a result. However, particularly in the case of ACC, the Unreal Engine is notably resource heavy for PCs. Some users even report that Competizione is unplayable in VR due to the limited frame rates their system can produce. We can hope that Motorsport Games finds ways of optimizing the title, including support for AMD’s FidelityFX system that many game studios are beginning to implement.

With those new graphics capabilities comes another feature that fans of the series have been asking for: a paint booth. Car customization has been a leading request from users, and Motorsport Games will oblige their fans this time around by allowing a greater level of paint customization.

Where this new NASCAR title lands on the spectrum of racing games and racing simulations lands won’t be known until release, but Motorsport Games seems to be heading in a more positive direction with these announcements. The date of the public release of this title isn’t yet known, but more details are expected to be announced in the coming months.

What are your expectations for the next NASCAR title? Do you think rFactor’s physics engine will redeem the driving experience? Was the choice to use the Unreal Engine the right one? Let us know in the comments below.

The confederate flag was literally banned at all NASCAR events Don't make up lies. And you're right. You are allowed to be racist. And you're also allowed to call racists every word in the dictionary. Not restricting thought, or as you said "allowing people to be racist" is what the free world was founded on. To suggest people cannot think any way they want is beyond idiotic. And hey hey hey, if you aren't someone worried about skin color, why are you worried about him being orange?
It was banned but it still flies at NASCAR events...https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/16/motorsport/nascar-confederate-flag-bristol-speedway-trnd-spt-intl/index.html . Also, if you are ever confused about racism, put it in the context of what happened in Germany with the Jews. It is obvious no one can control thought but when those thoughts leads to action and the oppression of fellow citizens, then there is a problem. The "free speech" argument to defend racism will never hold up to deep scrutiny because, you could apply it to any evil in society. Seems to me, that we must put pressure to stop this at the expression of the thought rather than wait until the action occurs (Dylann Roof). In following my earlier suggestion, lets replace the confederate flag with the Nazi flag. Would you feel that is right to display that at a public even like NASCAR? Of course, this only works if you think that flag is deeply offensive and promotes ideas that are not healthy for society (because they ultimately lead to evil actions). If you don't, then congratulations you have just made it to the outright racist level. I live in the south and lived close to a NASCAR track and I have seen my fair share of that flag being displayed proudly by good ole boys. We (black people) know what that flag means just like the Jews know what the Nazi flag means. Given that this country has had a horrible history of racism, and it being tied closely with that flag, displaying it at public events, is not okay, just like it would not be okay for the Nazi flag to be flying at a public event in Germany (its banned in Germany).

With the RF2 physics and Unreal graphics my only problem by now is with the hardware side. The ISI physics engine is know to be a hardware killer until today, specially in simulating the tyres physics, the Unreal for the other side, as anyone already noted in the ACC, is a video card killer... With both together I just can figure the minimum requirement being a I9 with a RTX 3080.
RF2 has one of the lowest CPU loads of all the current racing sims, at least on my system and I only have an i7 7700hq processor in my Alienware 15 R3 laptop that is 3,5 years old now. I think the ISI rF2 physics engine has been there for quite a lot of years and I wonder if its CPU requirements have increased much over all these years. RF2 development has mainly been focussed on the graphics engine of rF2 and there the GPU requirements have increased over the years.

We'll see how these Nascar, Indy, BTCC, etc. games end up, but finally some exciting sim racing news? I mean everything else is progressing soooo slowly...

Would be good to see a good Nascar sim. Last good one was ages ago. I've been watching Nascar since the 80's, and them good ole boys knew how to race .
But lately its gotten pretty complicated, but still interesting, sort of like F1 now compared to the 60's and 70's.
But its still fun to watch someone who can drive a loose racecar like Kyle Busch. Granted you either like him or not, but you have to respect the way he can drive.
But I will admit it still seems a whole lot better to drive a Nascar sim than it is to watch it.
I'll keep an open mind until I see what it looks like.

I really would like to have not "conveyor" (as NHx), but the main game with the new DLC for each new season. And of course, I would very much like historical series (aerowars, cars of tomorrow, etc.)

Could be great if Kunos buy licence and include inside ACC cause they have british GT with great tracks like Donington, Snetterton, Oulton, Brands Hatch and Silverstone
MG already HAS the license. It is not available. ACC is the OFFICIAL sim of Stephan Ratel's SRO organization. BTCC has zero connection with SRO. I am continually surprised that ACC users keep asking for content that is not part of the sim's focus. It's like purchasers of Codies F1 series asking for a Baja 1000 DLC.

Do not generalize a "we" considering if you go to any short track race on Saturday night you will see people of literally all races wearing it. In fact when I went to my first one I was shocked at the prospect, I thought like you did, but the reality is, I saw an entire three generation African American family wearing the flag on hats and shirts. I personally don't own or have it. But there are people of all backgrounds who do. The Confederate Flag in 2021 is not even remotely the same as the Nazi Swastika. That's an atrocious comparison, like seriously. But the truth is, free speech DOES apply to racism. Nazis still have that right, as much as it sucks for us normal people.

racist connotation to the whole NASCAR scene.

A welcome move, but they had to ban it. A symbol of Lost Cause mythology, had to be banned, its that bad.

Hopefully the game will be good, I'd like a decent sim of ovals, I'd like to get my head around what it takes to drive them. Tried a couple of Heat games, but they left me cold.

And how about British GT? Is from SRO but they didn't include Ferrari 488 GTC, Jaguar Svr GT4, Ford Mustang GT4 and Supra GT4, why?but they include 911 cup (with British GT liveries) I don't understand why some cars are inn and others are out, maybe some users like me will be happier with Assetto Corsa 2, and maybe Kunos too with more fans cause we don't understand what kind of licence is it, that exclude some cars

And how about British GT? Do you tell me is from SRO too?
yes it is, SRO took control of Brit GT (note the 3rd paragraph)just likeit did with the American World Challenge GT AND Touring cars that are NOT run by IMSA. Asian GTs as well. So GT4, GT2, GTC & any number of GT3 based leagues could still be added to ACC. But not leagues licensed to other companies like BTCC & MG.(not the car brand btw)
Take a look at this page and it will display all the SRO affiliated series which technically, barring any previous agreements, could be integrated into ACC. So no WEC, no IMSA, no BTCC, no Tony Stewart Dirt Track cars, All cars under the SRO banner are homologated by SRO so the possibility of cross campaigns do exist, but I don't know if all specs span all series. Note, there ARE two different Touring car leagues, they just ain't BTCC.

Read my Question again please, British GT 2019 dlc but they didn't include al cars, like Jaguar Svr GT4.. Why? Licence or half licence? Is like a Codemasters F1 game where u don't Haas Racing for example, do u imagine? So absurdo, i understand MG can't get another licence out of SRO, but what kind of licence is it that don't get all cars?

Heat just ain't it. I did use it for the free play days once upon a time but there is something... missing. iRacing really is where it's at for oval. If that isn't your thing, AMS (1) is also pretty good.

I don't know why the Jag Gt4 or Mustang or Supra are missing. My guess for at least the Supra was any agreement with SRO & Kunos may have been finalized prior to the Supra racing in the British GT series. Thus the Supra may have just been left out, again, only a guess. Other companies may have had prior agreements with Ford that precludes the inclusion with ACC. Until some company comments on the lack of cars, we can only guess. ( maybe Toyota just doesn't want it's content out there) I think Ferrari was known to opt out of older F1 titles(possibly since they had thier own F1 title via EA...so there must be some method of cars being left out of packages.
I was answering from the point of view of ACC and not Monster Games, ACC is limited to only contracts with SRO. If Kunos wanted to include content OTHER than SRO, they would have to create a new game. AC2 perhaps?

Kunos had troubles with Toyota in ACC, Lexus is the only car u cannot paint on the livery editor game, so absurd when all others cars you can, so that's why cannot understand how MG buy a licence but every company (toyota) use their own rules out of the licence, i think is a chaos and maybe FIA must take part on this kind of things, for sure Kunos will release a AC2 and will be free from this chaos and absurd rules. I think FIA must rules over any organization, and of course if you sell a licence you must let all cars, sponsors and tracks for the companies who will develop the game. I hope they could release more cars content but my hopes are very poor

If it’s as good as NR2003, I’ll be very interested. NASCAR is a lot more fun to simrace than to watch.

Totally.

Never a fan of Nascar till first playing N4, find watching it non sensical. When connected in the car in the middle of the pack attempting to carve out those precious inches, or you find yourself in the lead group with 5 laps to go, the total experience becomes amazing.

21 will need to be in VR to sucker me in, but if so i really welcome a return to the oval, NR2003 left a loving legacy.

No thank you. I have lost my interest in NASCAR. Kind of boring, weird as hell scoring system, and I am sorry, there are still a racist connotation to the whole NASCAR scene. I prefer the Euro, Far East, So. American courses to ovals.
This is what happens when you use your ass to speak and not your brain.
