List of Automobilista 2 Cars with Updated Tire Model

Automobilista 2 Tire Update List.jpg
Reiza Studios has been updating previously released cars to the newest tire model to improve the handling and feel of the vehicle; here is a current list of the cars with these updated tires.

The past two major updates for Automobilista 2 have included tire physics updates for select cars. The new tires feature a stiffer carcass, resulting in an improved driving experience thanks to a more connected feeling through a steering wheel and more responsive car handling across the various in-game surfaces.

Reiza's intent appears to be set on updating the vast catalog of cars to this new and improved tire model starting with the most popular classes. Here is a list of the classes that have been updated as of the time of this writing:
  • Formula Ultimate Gen 1 (based on the 2019 Formula One car)
  • Formula Ultimate Gen 2 (based on the 2022 Formula One car)
  • GT3 and GT4
  • GTE
  • Porsche Cup 3.8L and 4.0L models
  • Daytona Prototype
  • Stock Car Pro (2019 to 2022 models)
  • SuperV8 (based on Supercar V8 series)
  • GT1
  • P1 (Metalmoro AJR variants and Ginetta G57)
  • Ultima GTR Race
  • Copa Montana
  • Ginetta G55 GT4 Supercup
  • Sigma P1
Between the two F1-inspired cars and the always popular GT3 and GTE classes, Reiza has likely updated cars that most players currently enjoy.

Righto, Just dropped $120 on the season pass, seems this game is worthy of further investment.

Still can't drive Super V8....

"can't drive" sounds like over your skill level ;)
Sometimes the problem exits between wheel and chair.
Its not a car where you can jump in and kick in like a GT3 Bobby car.
But isn't it that everybody wants to have? Easy to drive ( Forza) or cars with a bit personality.
Five to 10 laps at Laguna Seca and this cars made fun. Even with default settings.
But don't forget to reset the tuning setup to default as suggested. Old setups are really obsolete.

Its definitely my skill level, hence the lack of a 4800 word post about the physics being incorrect.

Though, If I had experience in a comparable car around Bathurst I might think I could enter into a valid discussion on the matter, But driving my Commodore to work daily isn't quite the same thing.

Whats a Forza?

I know a lot of people give this game flack for perceived flaws in it's gameplay but I must say it's extremely refreshing to see the constant stream of updates, new content and communication with the community. That is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to this title.

I've only tried the super V8 cars and whatever Reiza has done is amazing. I can now lap Bathurst reasonably well (my skill level and not the cars fault) and not spin every time I even think about touching the throttle.
I did a 30 minute race at Kyalami and actually finished rather than rage quitting after 2 laps. Yet to try any other cars but seeing as the SCV8s were the ones that gave me so much grief before the update and they are now so much more enjoyable, I figure every thing else should be just as good. Now I just need some time off to actually do some more driving.

Porsche Cup 3.8L and 4.0L models
The Porsche Cup 3.8L is soooo good now :)

The Cup is usually one of my favourite cars in sims, with my favourite actually being Reiza's own unlicensed Boxer Cup for AMS1, but previously the Porsche Cups on AMS2 drove weird, had zero on-throttle oversteer, which was weird for a car with no TC, it had overactive suspension (or maybe it was the soft tire carcass causing the issue?) and from what I remember it was also affected by the old "sticky" differential issues.

But now it's perfect! Been driving this car almost non stop since the latest update, taking it to the Nords, and all the previous issues are gone. The car feels so alive and dynamic, overdriving will actually punish you in a predictable manner after some point, unlike before where it used to feel on rails no matter what, but the car feels very connected and if you go to far and start loosing the rear tires you can feel it and react in time.

The Porsche Cup on the Nordschleife is such a wonderfull display of what the Madness Engine is capable of in the hands of passionate and hardworking devs, and it's wonderfull. The car feels so good as it dances it's way around that track, it almost makes my T300 feel like a 2000€ direct drive wheel

It seems like Oez (physics) and Steelcast (setups) have been doing wonders since they've been hired by Reiza and I can't wait for this magic to spread across all other cars :)

The AI needs work however... they feel so slow, but I'm sure improvements will come.

These tyre updates and other physics work they have done over the past year have been amazing...

At the start of last year I was highly disappointed with the driving feel of this title, felt way too much like an improved pCARS and too far removed from the feel of AMS1 which I loved...

Now the cars have life, the GT1s, V8s and modern GTs have a lot of flavour to them now, there's grip but not insane grip and the limit is there and you can built to it... Some of the cars feel easy to drive until you try and better your laptimes... Then you really make mistakes...
