Kunos Simulazioni Celebrates 8 Year Anniversary of Assetto Corsa Launch

Assetto Corsa 8 Year Anniversary 01.jpg
Eight years ago today, Kunos Simulazioni released Assetto Corsa into Early Access on Steam.

A tweet from the official Assetto Corsa account reminded fans of the title that it has been eight years since the sim racing title was released into Early Access on Steam. They also used the moment to thank the community that has stood behind them through the years.

If there were a Mount Rushmore of racing simulators, Assetto Corsa would rightfully have a spot on it. AC has become equally well known for its third-party mods as it is for its base content. Thanks in equal measure to a very active community that has grown the available content for the title to an almost inexhaustible amount, and to Kunos’ work in delivering a solid base game, the sim is more popular than ever eight years after its release.

Other than a few small tweaks, development work has ceased for Assetto Corsa. Kunos shifted their focus to Assetto Corsa Competizione after AC, which has been another successful title for the game studio. While there are very few public details available at this time, Kunos has confirmed that Assetto Corsa 2 is in development.

On behalf of the RaceDepartment staff, congratulations to our friends at Kunos for the eight-year anniversary of your timeless racing simulator.

RaceDepartment continues to be among the most active sectors of the Assetto Corsa community, be sure to check out the Assetto Corsa Community Forums and the huge Assetto Corsa Modding Database often for the latest cars, tracks and more for AC.

It amazes me that an 8 year old sim looks like this:
A77D5173-1D82-4158-83DF-EEC4C1393215.jpeg

and plays so incredibly well even by modern standards. Kunos has a part to play, but so do does Ilja Jusopov, Peter Boese, all the paid modding studios like Race Sim Studio and of course the legendary community modders.

AC is miles ahead of where it started, and still continually improving. I can’t wait to see where it goes.

AC was the reason I switched from console to PC in the first place. Since then I've been buying all the major simarcing titles for PC and after all these years guess which one I'm currently playing? Yes, AC.
In fact only AC and ACC remain in my PC, all the rest are gone.

I bought AMS2 around June 2020 and have barely touched it. I still enjoy putting hours and hours into AC every week since November 2013.

The amazing mods like those of RSS have a lot to do with it but the Kunos content is also excellent, the F2004 at Spa and Silverstone is such a blast.

That's only the car, ingame without photomode it looks outdated, especially because of the track design/details and the UI. No matter how much filters you install for it. IMO AMS2 and RF2 with the new PBR filters look both way better. Also the track/car design is not consistent at all; some cars look great but some look terrible. And tracks look all not good anymore IMO.

But nevertheless: AC2 is announced so... :D That will be solved for sure, it's also not possible otherwise for an 8 year old game/sim.

I just hope that they keep focus on VR with AC2, since the terrible VR failure of ACC. Let's hope that they learned from this disaster.

If you can buy only one sim, Assetto Corsa must be the chosen one.
Amazing game. A true masterpiece, a Nirvana for all the creative modders like me.

Grazie Mille, Kunos Simulazioni!

AC is still alive only because modders, If were by KUNOS it wouldn't be possible to have day nigh transitions as only one example... so Kunos in my opinion hasn't merit of AC be a great sim

8 years ago, we had a Lotus Elise and Magione, 8 years later, we have content, tracks and cars for 3 life time. Day/night, rain, real mirrors, real weather, if it exist in the SIM world, we have it in AC. The immersion, the great driving feeling that conquered us 8 years ago, is better than ever, still my favorite SIM to drive, even better lately with my new CSL DD.
The development, after many years of great Kunos support, is now carried over by the community, under Ilja leadership. No other present title using present engine, can even hope to get the mass appeal as a bonified simulator AC is attracting. I am glad about it, as even if was to change combo daily, I would still have something different to drive at the end of 2022 and all that in glorious VR, taking full advantage of my DD wheel.
Which nothing new at the horizon, I foresee still many years of great SIM driving with AC.
Long live the king!

Honestly, I didn't have any idea as to the existence of Assetto Corsa. Now, I cannot imagine my life without it! AC is like sci-fi to me...whenever I want a genuine smile on my face, sci-fi (mainly Star Trek & Star Wars) is my go-to genre for TV, and AC is my go-to sim for cars, not even just to drive, but as some of my upcoming vids will attest to, even just to look and marvel at! And the modding community at large, with an excellent platform for the basis of their work, makes the dreams come true! Thank You Kunos for the blessing that is Assetto Corsa!!

i dont think anything touches ac for shear amount of stuff to do while also having very good physics/ffb and vr. ac is pretty much my only sim and it has given me countless hours of fun over the years. if it werent so moddable then we wouldnt have the amazing experiences that we have today, like driving up the pch watching the sun set, or blasting down the shutoko at midnight, or even driving a lego car around someones living room.

ac did spoil me though. when i got my first wheel, a g27, i only played ac. then forza 6 was coming so i upgraded to the cswv2. i loaded up forza 6 and learned the real difference between arcade and sim became clear. even pcars didnt stand up to what i had gotten used to with ac.

Well done 2nd best sim of all time right behind GTR2. Hopefully, the next one is as good. Thank you Kunos for all the great racing I have enjoyed.

Congrats to the highly-skilled folks at Kunos Simulazioni for this masterpiece.
It has brought me hours and hours of enjoyment over those eight years.
One of the best investments I have ever made in a simracing title.
It covers just about every discipline.
Thanks too, to all of the brilliant modders for continuing to add features.
It has become the 'new' Grand Prix legends of simulation racing.

Congratulations Kunos and thank you for this outstanding sim and lots of fantastic years with it.

For AC2 I just need better AI and ranked multiplayer. And please keep it moddable.
