Historic Nürburgring Released for Automobilista 2

Reiza Studios has officially released the 1971 version of the Nürburgring today in a new public update. Good news for the owners of the Nürburgring DLC is they'll be able to enjoy this historic version without having to spend a single dime extra, as all the new layouts are integrating that existing DLC.

The Nordschleife will be there, of course, but you will also be able to drive the Südschleife - replaced by the GP circuit in the early 80s - and the combined version. Reiza mentions in the patch notes that more trackside objects will be added before the official stable release. The South loop is 7.7km long, narrow and fast paced compared to the modern circuit, with 27 mostly high speed corners. It brings the combined course over 28km for a single lap.

On a sidenote, the 2023 versions of the Brazilian Stock Car Pro Series cars have also made their way in the game, and a whole bunch of small tweaks and fixes have also been made. For the full details, read the patch notes below.

V1.4.7.1 CHANGELOG

  • Fixed occasional CTD when viewing cars from trackside camera
  • Helmet liveries from specific drivers are now excluded from the random pool of helmets for other drivers that don't have one assigned
  • Fixed an issue where the player driver would use a random helmet livery instead of the assigned one
  • Fixed an issue where the AI drivers would be loaded with the wrong helmet liveries in saved replays, multiplayer and championship mode
  • Championship Editor: Fixed a potential crash when exiting class selection screen and add proper guidance that at least one class must be selected
  • Altered some default values (for G-Wheel) and improved / lowered on center knock that is felt with some cars (g-wheel)

This is a great wonderfull track , thanks reiza , great work , drive this a last in the 90s on gpl and now its back! in a wonderfull version  Now most of us hope for the "Le mans" track. And with it the new Hypercars where great. ;) Love Ams2 , my favorite sim @the moment, hoping in the next updates some more GT3 & GT1 cars
yes it's just a bit flat.. which makes it quickly boring. I'm also from the Gpl 90's time. without a good setup from Alison Hine, in my case it was impossible to ride with all the bumps and jumps... I miss that a bit in the Reiza 71 track, hopefully they will work on this.

everything else except for some minor things looks very good!

I'm a bit of a sim racing pariah in that I have little interest in the Nurburgring but it looks great and will have been given great care and attention like the rest of Reiza's work.

Just wanted to say that the 2023 Stock Cars are brilliant and I'm having a huge amount of fun with them. Possibly the best and most underrated cars in sim racing.

I assume you enjoyed the 2022 Stock Cars just as much--for the time being, the cars are identical (in terms of their underlying physics) within the sim. AMS2 V1.5 is scheduled to include actual physical differences based on the new Hankook tires, which should differentiate the driving experience between those seasons. At Goiânia, the 2023 car also employed a 2019-spec rear wing, but they reverted to the 2020-2022 wing at Interlagos after complaints.

By the way, next month, the Stock Car Pro Series returns to Tarumã for the first time since 2017 … for a good time, take the 2023 car to that track, and have fun managing your right-front tire temp across a race distance….

This is a great track addition. Racing old touring cars here will be a treat. Old
looking tracks are very nice. And with winter bare trees the tracks look much
better, more realistic. I can't help seeing the looks of this great Sim cartoonish
yet. It would be fantastic if Reiza could create a feature to choose different
colours schemes within the options, not as a external post processing filter
like Reshade which consumes resources - if they could add this, then this Sim
would be almost perfect.

Just found this flick again, reckogning I watched it over a decade ago after a visit at modern day Schleife. Something to compare to :)

Now I need to fire up PC2 tonight! I love the car content in PC2, the 512s, 908s, 917s, 365 Daytona, the 924, no many gems. If I could get those over to AMS2's historic tracks we've the match made in heaven. Not to mention all the Group C/IMSA GTP cars...

For those asking why the 1971 version, it's basically the last update the track got before the Südschleife got decommissioned and had the GP track built on top of it. Basically anything that existed before the 80s is technically period correct.

Correct; the Nordschleife remained approximately 22 km long from 1968 to 1983, when they cut off the Betonschleife loop (yielding the 20 km layout of "Bellof 6:11.13" fame) during construction of the modern GP circuit unveiled in 1984. Given the choices in AMS2, the modern "Nordschleife" track lacks the GP appendage, so that layout could be used to approximate Bellof's 1983 'Ring. For races prior to 1983, use the '71; for races after 1983, use either the modern 24Hr track or Nordschleife, depending on the series. Or just race on any track at any time--it's a sim!

Looks absolutely beautiful and clearly there has been a lot of effort put into this.

Sadly it’s still the same old simcade driving experience.
I wouldn't call it simcade but quite honestly I am really fed up with all the denial that there is anything wrong with the physics.
You don't have to be a mechanical engineer or professional pilot to know that there is something quite off about how most cars corner. The poor bugger that does the setups takes a lot of heat for it but there is something off about the handling, and no I am not talking about ffb.

The content for this game is SMASHING! Top shelf stuff for sure. Historical content is beyond impressive and pretty much everything a fella could want and this track is no exception.

Now that didn't take long until the AMS bashing got going. For the record, it's only number four on my inner sim racing list and the iMoney pit is not even on it.
Using custom FFB and it certainly is pretty good.
Cheers.

Its evened out as all the games get bashed for much the same reasons.

Its pretend car racing after all, only the one someone likes the best does the pretend thing the best.

Well the physics might not be 100% spot on but the fun factor of this sim is incredible. If Reiza improves multiplayer it has huge potential. Unfortunately current state of MP is very VERY frustrating.

Thats the thing “fun“. I like “sim” racing but I still want it to be fun, AMS2 has some physics issues in certain scenarios but it’s not as bad as some people make out and it’s a ton of fun. I’d rather be doing that than spend the last 2 years playing Tyre Pressure Manager in ACC.

Great to see this historic track recreated and finally released, looks good and fun to drive.

Tho I am a bit disappointed with both new pieces of content in this build.

Nearly two yrs after the tracks dlc was launched it's still not finished and awaiting track side objects/updates.

The 2023 Stock Car is just an updated skin pack on the 2022 version and now we have wait till update v1.5 for the physics to get the new rear wing and hanook tires updated.

Be aware Im only "driving" the higher powered formula cars in AMS2.
And most of these cars drive reasonably "realistic" - if I derive "realistic" from how more normal RL cars does behave.
The only point where I probably does agree slightly with you is some weird behaviour mid corners.
Where the car a short moment snaps from oversteer to understeer - and then (if you are lucky) back to controllable oversteer.
Dependent of the way you have set the diff settings up.

I guess this weird snap is caused by a remaining Mad fault in how the diff does react when going from Coast to Power Ramp dependent behaviour:cool:
