Have Your Say - What is Your SECOND Favourite GT3 Racing Sim

Second Best GT3 Sim 01.jpg
GT3 continues to be a favourite class among sim racers even outside of ACC, and we want to hear what your other go-to GT3 racing sim is.

Assetto Corsa Competizione has a huge roster of GT3 and GT4 cars, officially licensed by SRO. Its unwavering dedication to recreating the experience of driving a modern GT car has created arguably the most accurate recreation of a race series in gaming. Assuming this is the benchmark for you for GT3 racing (and please feel free to express an opinion otherwise in the comments below), what do you think is the second best way to experience GT3 racing in sims?

Continuing our weekly series where your responses in the comments below are the real story, we want to know where else you race GT3 cars, and why. Below are just some possibilities, but please let us know your own preference in the comments.
  • RaceRoom Racing Experience - RaceRoom's huge GT3 roster, known in game as GTR3, spans several years and includes some rarities from the world of GT3. Sector 3 has continued to add to the class in R3E, and newer versions of cars from Audi and Porsche are now present. The hugely customizable race setup allows multi-class racing, but sadly no night or wet weather.
  • rFactor 2 - On the eve of the release of the BMW M4 GT3, rFactor 2 offers players a growing roster of cars and licensed tracks to drive on. The recently updated UI allows us to get racing faster and easier than ever. The force feedback and car physics in rF2 are among the best in any sim, but adding the GT3 cars to your collection is very costly.
  • iRacing - The king of online racing could perhaps be the most pure way to enjoy GT3 racing from the comfort of your home. The car roster is not huge, but what is on offer in iRacing is nicely recreated. Obviously a monthly subscription is required to use the GT3 cars, but then you can compete against other and grow your virtual career as a GT3 driver.
These are just some of the ways to enjoy GT3. So whether its any of these or a different sim altogether, let us know your favourite ACC alternative in the comments below.

I hope I won't get excommunicated for this, but whatever people say in this post, it still won't be serious enough to be used in a serious environment in a very serious racing team. Seriously.
You post would've been complete if you had tagged some specific people ;-)

It would have to be AC & Automobilista 2 tied for second place, ACC is the 1st! rFactor just doesn't have the driving on the edge & seat of your pants driving style that makes me smile when I drive ACC & Automobilista 2. I wanted to love R3E but even with it being free & all I never quite liked the feel & deleted it.

Second best is RaceRoom.
Automobilista 2 is on it's way to become a winner :)
Is there any news on SimBins GT3 game??

I only drive GT3 cars in ACC as it's pure and simply the best for that series, then I use other sims for all other series.

Iracing, good variety, something about the R8 just suits me and gives me all the details I need to push harder than I can in other titles, lots of online activity and several different series to run the gt3s in and it has excellent ai racing

Rf2/Rroom for gt3s being second supposing ACC is first. I say this because technically I won't leave RF2 or R3E to drive GT3's if I wanted to, but I would fire up ACC to drive specific GT3's since you do appreciate its heightened accuracy, so you can pin point/select better, but I won't simply change titles usually and I say that not to be contrary rather those 2 titles are fun enough to not do so, where ACC I do not consider it as much fun due to its inherent nature and some GT3s simply being worse in terms of fun no offence but obviously they remain incredible driving machines - in Rf2 I will change the traction control and engine map and ABS even as I do in ACC (and in each I map the buttons on the wheel specifically to do so just for these cars [I like gt3 still], but I make sure I drive the best Rf2 tracks with the best surfaces (and that is in particular due to the high quality in ACC as I like to keep up the quality in Rf2 or AC for that matter and its due to ACCs good surfaces basically). So I am saying the management in ACC is so great, but also in RF2, where Rroom is slated more toward driving fun a little, and less likely to drive Gt3s in Rroom, slightly more in Rf2, and most in ACC, but won't change titles usually [eventually of course I do]. Note I do consider the DTM in Rf2 and DTM in Rroom a little more fun/exhilarating. And I consider the Ferrari GTE in Rf2 as such or Rroom RSR porsche lol so I like Gt3 a lot but it makes it so hard to keep a clear head on which one is which, but I think I nailed the above!

So a caveat and usually the top 3 suffice in what they do. But I appreciate my usage may not be typical. However:

I will never understand the fascination with AMS2 as to be frank the GT3s are particularly bad by any objective measure (and remember in my analysis I am comparing them to ACC just like the others!) so unlike some I may not be 'kidding myself' as the saying goes; they do not have a redeeming quality. However at one time it was my second favourite and as someone pointed out the merc did go well somehow prior to the sims being better across the board, but it never improved and the tires became objectively worse, so I do see how some just would not have branched out yet - but do not forget I was playing all the sims so I would hope one does not just say "AMS2!" automatically lol... that would be a huge error in judgement. Granted if you just want to slosh round a track and you do not like project cars 2 for some reason (even if it has more players than AMS2 still) there's nothing wrong with that but you would be in the minority.

But you would have to be kidding yourself if you did not say for other purposes R3E in the past few months (so may be try it again) or Rfactor 2 (and as Mike points out, the cost of the GT3s is really high like buying a second game) but to be fair to both, RRoom will cost some, and you even though they are technically not as good they are good enough and I think Rf2 will even get an updated tire model for the GT3s soon enough.

So when you consider that you simply cannot blame someone if they said AMS2 as some times a lot of things in the world of economy is egregious to the customer but you think there may well be reasons due to how the world works, its as simple as that; and I may call it rubbish but they enjoy it; and throwing in how exorbitant some things can be you cant blame them. But for me its rf2 if I had to pick, and in any list I find it hard to not put Rroom but I am not driving it for Gt3s just now.

Would love for all you guys to come together and give us

ACC's: Authenticity and realism
RF2's: Force Feedback
AMS2's: Graphics & VR
& AC's: modding capabilities

All in one !!!! lol perfectly impossible but that would be an incredible game

I would have said iRacing if it weren't for that pricing system.

I never needed to pay for each and every single track on top of a subscription fee in ACC.

But if we are talking GT racing as a whole, I still hold GTR2 as the peak product for it's era. The most complete package on it's time.

I prefer iRacing (for competition) followed by AMS2 (jump in and go with great graphics/ffb/weather).

As much as I like ACC and agree it’s the GT3 benchmark I’ve all but abandoned it due to having to lower graphic settings, opponents, avoiding nights and rain, and just can’t hold a steady FPS.

AC is second purely due to the limitless possibility of its modding scene, ACC is still the first for immersion that fits my budget nicely.

Premium
For the racing aspect like event structures, rules, somewhat endurance capable AI and so on there really is no 2nd place after ACC imo. For the driving feel, I prefer both AMS2 and rF2 before ACC.
