Rennsport Closed Beta Release Date Revealed

On Day 1 of the ESL R1 Major, the closed beta release for Rennsport was confirmed along with a couple of other reveals.

In Munich, the top 24 drivers in the ESL R1 season have been narrowed down to 12, with one set to become the inaugural R1 champion. During the broadcast, the Rennsport team including Competition Company CEO Morris Hebecker revealed plenty of plans for the yet-to-be-released sim.

One of those was the closed beta release date, and it’s coming sooner than you might think. 6 June will be when select people who have signed up for an access key can expect to potentially receive an email telling them they were one of the lucky select few.


For anyone who hasn’t already signed up to the waiting list, you can do so here. The first 50% of keys will be handed out to those who first signed up, with the following 50% being randomly assigned. Signing up to the waiting list now can still potentially result in you getting access to Rennsport.

What’s in Rennsport Beta?​

Players who gain access to the Rennsport closed beta will have four tracks and five cars available to them. First, there are all the cars that were used throughout the ESL R1 season: the Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020, Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II, Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) and BMW M4 GT3.

Along with those are all the tracks that were all raced on during the season. Hockenheimring, Nürburgring GP, Spa-Francorchamps and making its Rennsport debut in Day 1 of the Major, Monza!


Additionally, a brand new car was teased for reveal during the Major broadcast. We speculated that it would be the Praga R1, which turned out to be correct. The Praga will also be available in the Rennsport closed beta.

Unfortunately, the Porsche Mission R and Goodwood Hillclimb – both of which were showcased during the first Rennsport Summit in May 2022 – appear to not be included in the beta.

When the sim releases (stated on the beta page as December 2023), Hebecker confirmed in an interview on the broadcast that Rennsport will not only allow modding, but provide tools within the game to help modders.

The idea is to create the best tools out there that the community can build things they never built before, open up your mind and create the craziest things.

The content will make/break this title. Allowing others to produce stuff for the game will likely harm and hold back Rennsport tbh.

Content will become fragmented and potentially too dissimilar in quality if the dev's aren't producing 100% of it all. We even have titles like AMS2, where the content is only produced by Reiza - and yet some cars are very poor compared to others.

Time will tell...

These 5 cars are legendary? At least they have some sense of humour, without knowing it...these are not.evzn classic cars :D .
We obviously haven't the same idea about "legendary". I can admit the tracks names may be legendary for some, but in their current configuration they are just modern tracks.

Anyway, the game looks good and pretty realistic visually. I am not hyped for it but if it really is able to bring something new on the table, why not (just for the "legendary" GT3s and Praga, I won't care though :D ).

Does anyone know what game engine this uses?
Should it be UE, then what exactly makes this any different to ACC - genuine question?

Otherwise its a meh.
