BMW M4 GT3 Roars to RaceRoom Grid

It was no secret that RaceRoom would add the BMW M4 GT3 to its extensive vehicle roster in May - and now, it is here: The latest Bavarian GT3 machine roars onto the sim's grids and is complemented by updates to the physics and FFB models.

First revealed in the release roadmap outlined in early May, the M4 GT3 is the fourth new car of 2023 to be added to the sim. Previously, the On the Edge Pack brought the Mazda RT24-P DPI car, the McLaren 570S GT4 and KTM X-Bow GT2 to RaceRoom. Three Porsche cars are set to follow in July, one of which will compete with the BMW in GT3 as the up-to-date Porsche 992 911 GT3 R is in the works.

Physics & FFB Updates

RaceRoom also has a physics update in store: The GT3 class received a reworked system that adjusts balance of performance, downforce and drag, and other parameters to bring them in line to the real cars more. Additionally, the FFB system introduces a new linearity update which eliminates the need for the FFB Linearity slider in the settings menu. According to developer KW Studios, this will make "all the cars feel more grounded and solid to drive, particularly at low speed." This should be good news not just to fans of the new M4 GT3, but RaceRoom in general.

The sim's latest addition has seen considerable success on real circuits in 2023 already: Off to a great start with an overall win in the 24 Hours of Dubai in January, it has since taken victor in every race of the Nürburgring endurance series NLS. The car also enters the 2023 DTM season as the series' reigning champion, having taken victory in the hands of Sheldon van der Linde in 2022.

More to Come

RaceRoom is the fourth racing sim to officially feature the BMW M4 GT3, following in the footsteps of iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione and rFactor 2. As a result, it should be interesting to see how it compares to its virtual brothers.

The May update was planned as one of three smaller releases in between the bigger updates scheduled for July, October and December. Sim racers can look forward to the current GT3 Porsche as well as the 992 GT3 Cup and 944 Turbo Cup cars, the Circuit Pau-Ville Touring Car Pack and a Christmas Special - the latter two have not yet been fully revealed, so RaceRoom still has some suprises left for 2023.

@TeddyBearx : Did you actually read the story?
The car is in iRacing, ACC and rF2 for quite some time...

Either way. I hope that the updates (FINALLY) fix the missing ABS functions.

Looking forward to this car.

it drives great as usual, the physics team at raceroom are awesome, but yes it looks like utter **** with fake displays and rubbish graphics on an ageing engine

they don't seem very interested in updating or fixing core issues, therefore i don't feel very interested to give them my money

If only this gem of a sim would get a graphical update...
how? its not like you can throw a graphics sauce over everything and call it a day :)
you need to go and redo basically every texture by hand and then replace them by hand.
its such a gigantic undertaking that it would make no sense and you'd be better off making a new game entirely.
things that could be more easily replaced is for example gras around the tracks within the barriers or some ground texture, those can basically be applied, but everything else needs to be done and replaced by hand. Object textures, barriers, tarmac, literally everytthing where you have geometry and there is a texture on it, this needs to be redone.

I already have the car in Rf2 and is very nice there. I used to buy a lot at raceroom but after my upgrade to dd1 I didn't like it anymore, has direct drive been improved at raceroom or still little road feeling??

I seems the annoucement of GTR3 using the Unreal Engine, serving as a test before the change of graphical engine for RRE, has done some long term damage by giving hope.

There is so much content in RRE now, it would be a huge work to update each element indeed. And taking the risk to degrade the VR experience is probably not a smart move. It must be quiet a big investment ; the only way this to happen would be to sell the graphical update imo.

Just in time to race nobody online!!
dont mind the graphics or the dash that much but what use is putting out cars you cant use/
there is nearly no one online especially when You leave rookie.
thats the dealbreaker for me great game just no playerbase.
I think I will pass on this one.
