With a vast car list featuring plenty of diversity, Raceroom Racing Experience caters to almost every part of the simracing community. From top-level international cars and tracks to more niche pieces of content, there's something for everyone.

It seems that car list is set to grow in the not-so distant future as a new car pack is on its way. Dubbed 'On The Edge,' it's supposedly all about cars that demand to be driven at maximum attack. Or that's how the developers describe it at least. In reality, be it through a focus on endurance racing or amateur skill, each of these cars cater to a more relaxed driving style.

Cars in the On The Edge Raceroom DLC

First up in this new DLC pack for Raceroom Racing Experience is the KTM X-Bow GT2. Fitting in SRO's recent GT2 ruleset, it sits alongside the likes of the Brabham BT62 and Audi R8 LMS. The latter of which already features in the game with Porsche's take on the category.

The KTM was one of the first cars to adopt SRO's most recent creation and has competed for a few years in the European GT2 series. This championship is designed for Bronze drivers who want to experience GT3 speeds without the challenge of high downforce levels. The cars do so thanks to reduced aerodynamic focus and a lot more power. This thing is sure to be a rocket on Raceroom's straight lines.

The second car to feature in the pack is the McLaren 570S GT4. Following on from the Artura's introduction, the 570S will no longer take to the track in real competition. But fans of the beloved model can still enjoy its twin-turbo V8 on-track in R3E.

Another now-unused model in the real world coming to the free-to-download simulator is the Mazda RT-24P. A fan favourite of the DPi class, the Mazda approached the American prototype ruleset in a different way to its competitors. The small, high-revving engine took a while to get up to speed. But once the team found its rhythm, the little Multimatic-built endurance racer managed to challenge the likes of Cadillac and Acura.

After five years of competition, the RT24-P took two third place finishes in the IMSA Sportscar Championship along with seven race wins. The underdog of the DPi class, this new addition is sure to be popular in-game.

Which car will you get from the Raceroom Racing Experience On The Edge DLC pack?

dlc, dlc , dlc... that all you get from raceroom, zero effort to keep the game modern, up to date on features or relevant, heck they haven't even been bothered to fix rolling starts for years so now just leave them out of the game and don't even get me started on their embarrassingly fake dash displays , sorry but this game is now no longer relevant

C'mon, flesh out the Group C cars, it's sorta lame with just 2 cars in it. Or how about more cars to go with the 1995 and 2005 Merc DTM car. Or, better yet, how about some 90's BTCC cars?

I can't wait for this to drop. Looking forward to racing the Mclaren in GT4.

I recently realized that the X-Bow is a GT2. I want more of those cars in R3E. The Audi and the Porsche are quite fun. Wouldn't mind a few more liveries for both of them too.

As for the DPI... I wonder if this car will be alone for long?

Speaking KTM, could be interesting if the GT2 came along with the newly introduced GTX-version.

I mean, what is not to like about a gimmick as the mud removal tool coming along the pack when checking their official site (though vaguely suspicious it's a webdesgn error and belongs to their bikes :D).

But anyway think I'm not teased, by far prefer the older H-pattern stick versions.

Yeah, nothing like making more cars that noone will race online. Lately my raceroom experience has been: launch, open Multiplayer, see a few endless practice servers, 2-3 decently populated ranked servers with the usual cars and a lot of empty servers, forget about it and launch ACC

No way!!! I was a huuuuge fan of the Mazda DPi in IMSA, and this is very exciting to see it officially coming to a sim. Always loved a good underdog story, and the car had great drivers in it (Montoya, Tincknell, Jarvis) and sounded amazing.

Plus one of my favourite videos on YouTube is Ollie Jarvis talking through Sebring laps in the Mazda DPi. His enthusiasm is so infectious!! :inlove:

That said... it's another annoying "tasting menu" moment in sim racing. I'd want to race the Mazda DPi against a field of period-correct IMSA machines. But in RaceRoom, we have one DPi, no LMP2, no LMP3, 1 GTE, and a bunch of GT3s. We do have a bunch of IMSA liveries on the GT3s, which is better than nothing, I suppose. But there is seemingly zero coherence to these content releases. Just bits and bobs, all over the place, without rhyme or reason. Unless more 2018-2021 IMSA content is coming for the sim (maybe another DPi, an Oreca P2, a P3, and a Corvette GTE) I'll have very little reason to want to drive this car... especially in single player against AI (especially since there is no rain, nighttime, or AI driver swapping in RaceRoom) but even online, if I were to choose to do it.

While I've not forked out the money for it yet, rFactor 2 is the better 2018-2021 IMSA sim. You have an official Cadillac DPi, modded Acura and Mazda DPis (although the Mazda mod is a little unfinished), plus officials P2s, P3s, GTEs, and GT3s - and loads of community IMSA liveries you can put on those cars. Not to mention high quality track mods for Road Atlanta, Mosport, Road America alongside laser scanned 397 DLC tracks like Daytona, Sebring, Long Beach, and Laguna Seca. Plus rain and day-night. Between all that and what's currently available for RaceRoom... I know what I'd choose.

To this day Raceroom is still my most played game on my Steam library and I've spent around 200€ on content so far (bought the premium pack a long time ago), but sadly I have to agree.

I love Raceroom's physics and FBB, which is why I've played it so much, but at this point it feels like the fanbase is just a wallet to them so all we get is more content and nothing else. The engine is ancient and the return of the fake dash displays is indeed embarrassing for a sim that charges what it does. Not even a roadmap of what they're currently working on like they did in the past.

I know that this type of criticism on a new DLC announcement is usually frowned upon by some as being off-topic, but this is how I feel when a new DLC is announced nowadays, so it's perfectly on-topic to me.

I agree. It would be nice if they were working on updating the game engine. Maybe that's what the majority of their staff is doing, because otherwise, I can't imagine how a full group of designers can be kept busy by an occasional new DLC pack of cars.

If you're ok with older cars, you can enjoy the Enduracers' Endurance series mod for free. GTEs GTCs, LMP2,s LMP3s, great categories. Who need to drive any other GTE than a DBR9??? :D

I hope too. But if it is the case, it would be a good idea to communicate about the developments, because the fan base has been quitting more and more for a long time. It will be a bit late to update a game no one has anymore interest in.

shame that it will again have these ugly "standard" dashboards
because they aren't able to hire guy who knows how to make new ones, lmao

this game have really good physics and ffb, graphics don't bother me I actually like it as it is beside some colour balance that easilly could be adjusted but it still missing important features and details so I stopped playin few months ago

team maintaining the game is really small
it's literally few people, lol
