ACC | Porsche 992 GT3 R joins the fun

After the past announcements of the last two weeks showcasing a new Ferrari and a new Lamborghini, it is without much surprise that Kunos is announcing the arrival of Porsche's latest GT3 race car in Assetto Corsa Competizione for the 19th of April.

The Porsche 992 GT3 R has been engineered with reliability and ease of use in mind. As GT3 cars are subject to a Balance of Performance in various racing series, Porsche's idea was to focus more on making the car usable for endurance races rather that building the car for pure speed. The displacement of the naturally aspirated engine has been increased to 4.2L to increase the powerband width to "suit gentlemen drivers needs", while the engine itself has been positionned and tilted in a way that allows more room for the diffuser and less load on the rear end to limit stress on the tyres.

The April 19th update could shape up to be even more substantial, as there's still 3 more weeks available before that for more drip feeding announcements. We know the new SRO GT2 class cars are set to come in the game in the future, but there are also still a few tracks from the calendar that are missing in ACC right now, so both scenarios are credible at this stage.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but there's also, from what I've read online, a big update (1.9) for the sim to go along with the new GT3s.

As for GT2s and tracks, one can only hope. However, Kunos usually releases new cars and new tracks separately. Maybe new cars first and tracks to follow in June-July?

There are still some American tracks missing from the official championship. Also, some tracks in the current European championship are missing. Zandvoort needs an update, so does Spa.

I really have this feeling that this update and DLC is the final for ACC. And still a bunch of time to the release, meanwhile all the new GT3s have been officially announced already, so further announcements can be expected. If that's GT2, or tracks, I have no idea. I do expect the GT2 though for sure, but I hope for tracks even more.

While it's nice to have the current cars, they really need to fill in the tracks. I'm just hoping this won't be the last update before they put the full team on AC2.
it's the last, dude, since long time they only push DLC and it's obviously the last one

According the AMA on Reddit by a Dev its not, there is quite a bit more coming down the road with a refreshed/updated roadmap. So basically no this isn't the end of ACC, there is still more coming after this update.

Me too thinks this is the swan's song to ACC's development.
With AC2 slowly starting to stroll over to the starting blocks and slowly getting dressed up for the start, its clear its only a question of time before Kunos sends all ressources over to it.
The good thing is, the end of development does not mean we can no longer race ACC. ;)

Tracks take way longer to build than cars, so I'll happily take what they can throw our way without a second thought.

Hope they got the onboard sounds right this time around :p
