RaceRoom | Circuit de Charade Trailer Released + Crosslés in Action

Today, RaceRoom released a new trailer for their 'Driver's Pack' set to release this month. It showcases the new race track, Circuit de Charade as well as the 2 new Crosslé additions.

While showcasing the great elevation changes of the track in the outliers of the French alps, both Crosslé cars in this pack get shown as well.

Even though some of the colour effects on the video are questionable, it doesn't deter from the action-packed track that will be making its debut in modern sim racing games. Truly, the track awaiting RaceRoom gamers is like a compact version of the Nordschleife.

Little runoff and awe-inspiring elevation changes bring forth the comparison to the most famous and maybe even infamous race track in Germany at least, if not even Europe.

While the circuit is getting a great showcase in this video, details about the new cars don't come too short too.

The 'Driver's Pack' included Crosslé 90F, for example, receives a great showing of the dash, confirming all suspicions: it is a driver's car without too many assists.

Finally, a good show of both the Crosslés' seemingly well-developed suspension travel allows for some wobbly-goodness shots, showcasing the strengths of RaceRooms' ageing engine.

The 'Driver's Pack' is set to release in December of 2022. If RaceRooms' standard DLC practice is to be believed, you will be able to purchase each of the packs' content separately as well. The free base game of RaceRoom will of course be required to play this content.

What do you think of this tease of the new content? Does is spark your interest? Let us know in the comments down below!

I came to love this track back in the GPL times, and then when they released the 1965 version of it I loved it even more. The modern track feels pretty meh to me.
The current track is not as long and dangerous as the old one of course, but it' s still an extremely challenging circuit. 30% of the old GP layout is still used by the modern track, and it's not the easiest part, far from it.

None of these corners will forgive an approximative driving and the elevations are simply huge (which means even stronger mass transfers). Skills and precision are required to drive there for sure (even slowly) ;)

Hey, since you're here at the moment... Is there anything you can talk about modernizing the graphics engine of RaceRoom? For VR I had to download some special drivers from some steam user which finally made racing RR with Oculus Rift S okay-ish. Still far from the performance of AMS2 or even AC(Sol), but at least I can stay at full fps with mediocre graphics settings. (geforce 2070 and high end intel processor)

I'm really looking forward for 9S. The simracing in my opinion needs more cars like this or Lotus 23, Elva mk7, Merlyn mk6 etc. Thats perfect car for "momentum" racing, very low CoG, H-shifter and still a bit of moving around while being generally quite planted to the track. Racing those is always keeping them on the edge which is sometimes almost scary but awesome fun.
tbh id prefer them even a bit more underpowered, i.e. 1.6l instead of 2.0, gives that extra feel of "edge" when youre pushing it to the max for way longer than you expected. But still should be great fun.

can i have link to those drivers? (assuming you dont mean opencomposite)

I've been there to take hundreds of pictures and measure some buidings + some data provided by the track. And of course, I recorded the sound of both Crosslé cars there aswell.
I cannot thank enough the whole Classic Racing School team for their wonderful support, and the Crosslé 9s VIP laps ! :)
You should communicate more about it. That you went IRL to take all of his data is sellout for simracers. I don't think the AC modder is doing that, you know what I'm saying ;)Now you just have to come to Pau to collect data I would be happy to help you :D

I've been wanting a classic openwheeler in RaceRoom ever since... Well, it was the Formula Junior car that gave me GPL flashbacks. I felt then that the developers could make a classic F1 car work. The 90F is a modern recreation of one, as I understand it, and I'll take it!

Actually, we have some dev videos upcoming but I can't say more about it now :D

Regarding the AC Pixsim Charade, I think I can say that he knows the track very well, as he's living close to the track ;)

About Pau, I keep some excellent memories of the GPs there, and I really enjoy coming back in this city from time to time.
As for collecting data in Pau, thanks a lot, I'm saving the invitation for the future, because the data has been collected already :D

I live just nextdoor :)
Pau-Arnos is also a very interesting track. In any case for me Charade will be an instant buy. Thx for this addition

The track nowadays lack what to my liking was the most fun section of the track. I'm sure the the track still needs skill an precision, but even an oval track needs them in spares.

The old track had that section of fast concatenated corners that felt somehow similar in the flow to the exhilarating second half of the Solitude track and kinda reminiscent of the old Nurburgring section between both carousels. This new Clermont-Ferrand kept about half of the most slow, technical and to my liking boring corners of the track.

Even the slow section in the 1965 version felt more challenging because you had to drive almost scratching the dirt borders that were so close to the track in order to maximize cornering speed. I'm sure that the new track configuration can still be fun, like Paul Ricard or the Canada F1 track can be fun.

But tracks like Interlagos or mugello have flow, the initial Magny Cours track configuration had a second and third sector with flow, a third of the olf Nurburgring has flow, Solitude is the track with more flow that I have ever driven. I love tracks with flow, I don't find fun tracks that lack it like: Canada, Paul Ricard, Ricardo Tormo, Jerez, Jarama, Mexico, Misano and others of that kind.

It's simply a matter of personal taste, any kind of track can be challenging and require a ridiculous amount of skill, even a drag race requires it when racing against a skilled rival.

Where did you collect the data from this track ? Thx
Do you need any data to understand such a work requires hours of work? 3 weeks of working time are more than one hundred hours. Data researches, modelling, ai implementation, lighning, testing, debugging... imagine how many professionnal people and hours are involved. It is quiet disturbing that for around 15 years people have been thinking entertainment should be free because it can be downloaded. Would you like others telling you that the product you work on worth 0? Don't get paid, yeah, your product worh nothing, you worth nothing, others do the same job, amateurishly (no disrespect for the modders' talent, most of them hasn't access to tracks, cars manufacturers, data, as a professional team, that's an investment modders cannot afford), for free, so do it. As many have seen, this is why entertainment in general lower the quality and diversity levels.

Be careful with your hobby, the less you are willing to pay, the less professionalism you will get. Respect the work of those who entertain you, because, when they stop because of the lack of money, you'll suffer too..

I don't know how much this pack will be priced, but I assume around the same than one ot two bottles of basic strong alcool. Stop drinking 2 weeks and you can afford a pack that will entertain you much longer than the bottles. You still can get both, DLC and a bottle but, from my experience, drinking while racing isn't the best way to go... ;)

they really shouldn't use fake 3rd party shader overlays to make raceroom look like a non dx9 game in their trailers

Talking about flow, the modern Charade provides exactly what you like.
Believe me, I drove on both tracks irl (yes, you can drive on the old GP track as it's still a public road nowadays, and not much changed since the GP era), it's nice but you wouldn't want to race a Formula 1 or a prototype there, especially those from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

The real track is nothing like the old GPL, rF or AC track, it's super narrow and slippery. Speeding there looks like a suicide, sincerely.
Don't get me wrong though, I would love to drive it in Raceroom, but once you drove on the old GP, you immediately understand why they stopped to use this layout :D

That said, I wouldn't say no to the hillclimb layout (yes, Charade got an hillclimb race too) which was using some parts of both old and modern layouts (mostly the modern), especially with those cars .... and trucks :D :

Why do you place me in your message? What is the connection? I say exactly the same thing as you in my messages. I wanted to know how it collects data from a track...lol
