Ian Bell | Straight4Games and Hyper-Realistic Screenshots

Ian Bell is at it again. As has been announced, the Englishman's new studio will be developing racing games. And boy, if the tweets are no lies, whatever they have in their pipeline is some hyper-realistic stuff!

Straight4Games

The new studio will not be called, as previously announced, MildlyAnnoyedStudios, but rather Straight4Games. This was announced in a Tweet that Ian Bell put out on his private Twitter account.

The programmer from Hertfordshire revealed the following logo to be used for the game development studio.

The New Game Engine

The studio's first job seemed to be working with a new engine. According to a previous tweet from Ian Bell, the used engine might be Unreal Engine 5, as he said:

Imagine RF2 physics, tweaked in an Unreal 5 world... I do. Dreams can come true.
- Ian Bell, Mar 31, 2022

The known detail is that this new engine, according to recent Tweets is capable of hyper-realistic renderings of car interiors, as seen in the following screenshots.

According to answers in the original Tweet by Ian Bell, these screenshots are "100% in-engine".

The first project of Straight4Games is said to be GTR Revival, a reimagining of the classic GTR games developed by SimBin and Ian Bell's own Blimey! Games.

When I saw this article title before publication my immediate thought was oh boy this is going to be fun, and I'm not talking about the game.
Let me point out that Ian Bell is a member here and our ToS says personal attacks on other members breach our board rules.
So please keep that in mind before posting.
I don't really agree with this rule.

Ian (and to some extent myself now, whoops) are public figures who create commercial products.

As long as the "attacks" aren't blatantly schizophrenic, they should be allowed.

In the 10+ years I've been on RD, I've reported a grand total of two comments about myself because they were demonstrably untrue and a simple message to the mods cleaned it up.

If we're gonna get to the point where we can't say "I won't buy a game from X because I personally don't like his track record", because we didn't word it perfectly and it's somehow considered an "attack", it kinda defeats the purpose of a message board.

I see people here moaning because it's Ian Bell's word and therefore they assume the worst. For me, when it comes to simracing, I WILL NEVER HOPE THE WORST for a new racing title. I will simply wait and see how things will evolve over time. And as I said once, I really enjoyed being part of WMD at the time of pCARS 1 in 2011.

Yes, it's mainly because Ian Bell's stamp on a sim is simply worth peanuts, judging from the last 3 titles . Your time at WMD might have been pleasant, but that doesn't make Ian Bell's product any closer to advertised.

RD: how can we draw more traffic to the site?

Answer: an iracing thread....
The most expensive service in the motor simulation universe

Than we will follow up the next day with an Ian Bell thread.
Ian Bell is at it again.

How will you follow this up? Lol
Easy Raceroom updates the game engine LOL

I wouldn't consider those circumstances a personal attack, there's already a fairly wide spectrum of critical posts in the thread none of which have been removed, nobody has been banned. And if someone is unhappy with how I moderate then they can always contact Bram to complain.

You tell me. Reiza is basically modding their previous engine for more than 2 years now. Kunos has done a tech demo (AC 1) and a half baked GT game (if we compare it with how complete F1 from codies is) in almost 10 years. S397 has done not much besides a new UI and new content for years. In the meantime, Ian Bell released 3 new games, and is going for 4th in a new engine. So it's easy to see who has actually been producing things, and who has been living out of community good will (and fanaticism) for years.
Should I bring up steam stats again?

The “tech demo” and “half baked” GT game somehow at the top, there must be a mistake. I’ll contact Valve and have them fix this, for sure SMS stuff should be dominating!

Bring them all they want, they mean nothing compared with what the products actually are. Or should i bring steam stats to show how Gran turismo and Forza walk all over the "big sims" you mentioned?...

More racing games the better no matter whom makes it.I'm a simple man that likes racing game's no matter what they are Simcade,Sim i'll play them i'd rather support guys making Racing game's the DEVS!!!!!!!

Yet again, the hate on Ian Bell continues on this website.

RD really can’t stop to be biased against and for towards certain developers. They will suck it up towards GT, AC and iracing while openly hate developers like whatever Ian bell is doing. Just look at the first paragraph with skepticism towards their work.

As flawed as pcars was (there was never a 3), these guys managed to bring in a lot of people to this genre. I never expect to be still playing a lot of these amazing games including rf2, r3e and ACC after pcars introduced me.
