Project CARS 2 | Last Chance to Own Rare Sim Racing Supercars

Last Chance for Project CARS 2 01.jpg
With only days remaining before Project CARS 2 is delisted, sim racers have one last chance to own select supercars that are hard to find outside of this title.

Project CARS 2 is set to be delisted on September 21st, meaning that digital copies will no longer be sold through major platforms. Owners of the title will still be able to play it, however, and there are some facets of the polarizing title that sim racers may want to consider before it becomes far more difficult to own.

The driving physics in PC2 will forever be debated, with opinions ranging from unplayable to unforgettable, but there are certain elements of this sim that are less divisive.

Among the more widely appreciated features in the title is the selection of road and track day cars. Many hardcore simulators tend to lean heavily toward race cars, which often limits the experience of driving the world's most sought after road cars to titles like Forza and Gran Turismo.

But, Project CARS 2 packed its base content with a wide assortment of supercars and hypercars. There are more commonplace exotics like the McLaren P1, LaFerrari and Porsche 918, but the selection extends back multiple decades to include cars that are rare in racing sims.

A stock McLaren F1 can be found here, which despite being considered by many experts to be the greatest road car ever built, is absent from a surprising number of simulators. Or the Porsche Carrera GT, which gives the driver an exciting, analog driving experience thanks to a screaming V10 engine and H-pattern shifting.

The Porsche 959, Radical RXC Turbo, BAC Mono, Ferrari Enzo, Ford GT and Acura NSX are also included in the Road Car classes in PC2, plus numerous others. Many of these cars are available as mods for Assetto Corsa, but remain difficult to find as official content for any racing simulator.

Project CARS 2 won't please everyone with its driving experience, but those in the sim racing community with a love for supercars may want to consider buying the title before it becomes delisted.

I discovered PC simulation in virtual reality with PCars, there are pros and cons.
The easiest is to compare it to AMS2, AMS2 uses the same graphics and physics engine as PC2, except that Reiza has completely overhauled the physics and there is no photo, by far immensely better on AMS2 with the same graphic quality in virtual reality.
Except that there are still great things to discover in PC2!
Like for example snow and ice on all circuits located in geographical areas that can be snowy in reality.
A great special ice track (small) and another very long one, great in VR, you take turns looking out the side windows as in reality on this kind of circuit, after there are few cars that allow it, and you have to drive while sliding, it's very fun, very light on the brakes, a trick to take.
There are also some dirt tracks, there is a way to drive really well, I personally find that driving in this mode with certain cars is more realistic than that of Dirt 2, which I nevertheless like very much, the concern is that with other cars it will be horrible.
The circuit that starts from the French coast (Nice I believe) and takes you up the mountain is great and the one that arrives near San Francisco through the Golden Gate is Top with some cars.
In short, to discover if you are interested in different circuits, driving on snow, ice and dirt and you are in RV.
On the other hand, some cars are ultra weird, undriveable, so you have to sort it out and settle for that, but frankly, if you have time, it's really worth testing.

reluctantly I have to say some of the content is outstanding
Why reluctantly? because the bullies have decided the cool kids have to hate PC2? PC2, like the original PC before, did and still do some amazing things, many (most?) other "SIM" have not caught up yet. Not having and worse, not enjoying, those 2 SMS titles and having interest in "SIM" is seriously misguided.
the level of hate some people have for PC2 is ridiculous, more than just sim snobbery
Indeed, seriously retarded.

All Hail to Reiza for their exemplary dedication to improve their title based on the SMS engine, but like PC and PC2 before, some content is better than other even if much efforts are dedicated to better physic and better FFB, so "immensely better"? not really.

You can still find extremely interesting content, both physic and FFB in PC2, just a shame that SMS did not spent more energy improving the title a bit longer, as clearly the potential is there.

case closed my arse, you think those two vids are similar? Also congrats on owning a Mclaren F1 to "know" which one is better or not.

I really hate partisan fanboism......
What I really hate is lack of logic in argumentation.

If I'm a "partisan fanboy" because am criticizing a game, that I played, by it's physics without having a McLaren F1, how could you tell me that I'm wrong if you also don't have this car?

Great post - I think some people have no idea what they're talking about and seem to deem that if it drives well like some might say GT3 does in ACC then that's good - but doesn't make it realistic. Don't get the PC2 hate tbh - all of the sims have their negatives and positives. Most people have never really driven or experienced racing cars real fast in real life (9am school run doesn't count :D) and presume they know how it should feel - most don't. Anyway, my view is sim racing is trying to mimic real motorsport and in the first instance it needs to be learnt - when some people are faced with that they cry and blame the software rather than themselves. I don't know the ins and outs for sure but I would guess the actual physics and tyre contact of many of the cars in PC2 are more accurate than a few of the other sims - I just don't go on a witch hunt about it.

*And btw there's a healthy car modding community out there for PC2 with some of the latest and classic vehicles - some are great, some not as great - same with Assetto Corsa.

The DLCs improved the longevity of PC2 a huge amount for me. I don't know what you have already, but if you don't own the Rallycross DLC ("Fun Pack" I think?) or the Le Mans pack, you really should think about getting them before they go off sale.
I have them all(Purchased the Season Pass from CD-Keys for $6.00) except the Japanese DLC. Is that worth getting?

I agree. For example, the GT1 cars are still better in PCars2 than they are in AMS2, IMO.

The four cars are
Honda's 2015 2&4 Concept Car, the 2017 Honda Civic Type R, the 1979 Nissan 280ZX Turbo IMSA GTX, and the 1990 Nissan Skyline GT-R BNR32 Group A.
So if you're interested in them yes.

Does anyone know off hand if the PC2 Deluxe Edition contains the various DLCs?

It appears PC2 has left the Steam library already but PC and PC3 content is still available.

I'm not making wild accusations of what game is incorrect or correct, I'm saying that YOU can't make that accusation. Twisting my words only work when you have an equally incorrect assumption that I prefer one over the other when I don't.

What you can do is state you subjective opinion that you prefer AC's Mc F1 over PCars2 Mc F1. But when you falsely dress it up as objective fact, I will always call people out on that. Plus you use two wildly differing video compositions to "prove" your point, further cementing my "partisan fanboi" thoughts.

Almost 200 hours in pc2 here. >1K in AC, >1K in ACC, 400 in AMS2. And I still remember the good time I had doing the career mode in PC2. These days I’m a bit bored of competitive simracing, this topic has made me to reinstall PC2 and go the career mode again. It’s really fun, diverse and replayable. I bought it for my wife who’s starting in simracing, you can learn a lot while having a lot of fun.

I tried those 4 options for the DD wheel (as I have a DD wheel) and although there are clearly some improvements, it is ruined by horrible harsh rattling of the wheel. I tried it on old Spa in the BMW V12LM car and the Lotus 49 and both had this effect which seemed to make the front wheels bounce vigorously up and down. Moving slider values did not help. So I also tried the BMW on California highway but the harsh rattling was still evident.

the civic and 280ZX are really good, the honda concept is weird but worth a drive, the R32... is an R32 :D

You dont get GTR2 with porsche ferrari. You get a version of the game without these brands.
That's the worst BS I've ever seen in my life, Steam version won't even recognize Porsche/Ferrari mods.

Damn, I was waiting for a sale.

well, truth be told I've been waiting for a sale for years, It never quite got down to the $5 I was willing to invest.

I like the game enough that I grabbed a second copy, just in case my kid wants to play it. It has so many cars (like the Panoz GTR-1) that just cannot be found anywhere else.
