Automobilista 2 | 'Biggest Update Yet' Coming Soon

Automobilista 2 August 2022 Update 01.jpg
Reiza Studios has released their August development update for Automobilista 2 and shared some exciting plans for upcoming content and physics updates.

The newly released Automobilista 2 August, 2022 development update has brought some exciting news for players.

Originally scheduled for release at the end of July, the significant 1.4 game update is now scheduled for release at the end of August.

The 1.4 update seems to be intended as a baseline for physics in the title to allow Reiza to more easily publish future content, user interface features and gameplay modes.

Outside of the new baseline for AMS2, August will also see the sim receive some interesting new content, including the highly anticipated Racin´ USA Pt3 DLC. The third installment of this DLC will include a 2022 edition of Formula USA (Indycar), plus oval configurations of cars and tracks.

The Mercedes AMG GT4 will also be added to the title as free content, along with the Ginetta G55 GT3. The Ginetta is intended to be raced against the Ultima GTR in a new GT Open class, rather than against other GT3s in the title.

Reiza is also bringing significant improvements to Automobilista 2's mechanical damage modeling, which should bring enhanced realism thanks to the addition of common real-world issues like misfires and coolant leaks. Reiza notes that this can be disabled by players looking for a simpler racing experience.

You can read the full August, 2022 development update on Automobilista 2's Steam page. Are you looking forward to these updates? Is there new content you're specifically waiting to try? Let us know in the comments below.

Reiza are really good at punching above their weight where development is concerned.
I had an interesting and rather unexpected surprise yesterday.
Around 11:00 AM I was running a few test laps in the McLaren F1 car, when I got interrupted and had to step away.
I got side tracked for the rest of the day and completely forgot about the computer.
Imagine my surprise, when I walked back into the office at around 9:30 PM to find my car exactly where I left it...but now on a beautifully lit SPA.
The reflection on the car and sign-boards, the nice glowing brakes, the low ambient lighting.... It was all there and looked really good...even on my 'potato' GTX1060 stand-in card.

Sounds amazing! I am very excited that one of my favorite cars, the DW 12, will be included. Also, oval racing! Impatient to try the new physics model. This sim is great.

Note to Kunos: it’s possible to implement a safety car in a sim. How come ACC never got one?
Because ACC players are toxic and apparently safety car only has a place in offline which apparently nobody plays

Good you still have your money :D
Jokes aside it’s good that i bought the season pass a couple of years ago but it has been a rollercoaster ride for some time now and it’s good that it’s about to stop.
Not sure what went wrong but I really would like to get back and enjoy AMS2 so the hope comes from this update. Fingers crossed.

I can say with a decent level of confidence that if you don't like the car handling currently, this next update will do nothing to change your mind. I have access to the beta and there has been a lot of work done in the game but the tires still ruin the experience. They are just awful and inconsistent. I think they still need at least another "breakthrough" on the tire front. If they can "fix" the tires, I think it could easily turn the tide in this game.

I'd say to everybody who doesn't like the handling currently but is still interested in AMS2, give it a try in v1.4, it may yet be something for you.

Generally, as long as the interest is there, even if you don't like certain aspects of the game currently, try it at least when the milestone updates come out.

You never know.

AMS2 is definitely the biggest wild card of simracing atm; they got the devs and they're getting closer and closer to that sweet spot. I am looking forward to their proposed Career mode too.

We'll never know, but I think we both will watch AMS2's development with great interest.

Beta is in notformedia branch for a reason. Not even you beta users have the complete physics overhaul yet. (i don't disagree with the inconsistencies btw. but talking about something with confidence you didn't even received yet isn't recommendable);)

Frankly I disagree. Most of the cars in the current beta feel very different and for the better. Especially in long runs. Then obviously if some users are just waiting AMS2 to become the clone of ACC in terms of feeling at the wheel, this is unlikely to happen ever. But it's completely another matter.
Anyway this is not the place to discuss the Beta btw.

The average car in AMS2 now feels no better or worse than the average S397 car in rF2, which is supposed to be the pinnacle of tyre physics (why?), so idk where this "awful and inconsistent tyres" moaning is coming from.

I've been running alot of GT4's across several sims of late.
I like what Reiza has done recently, the only thing with the current tire model I find is different is it lacks a little grip in high speed turns that results in understeer.

I'm hoping with the release of 1.4 and some fine tuning it will address this.

Really looking forward to the next update :)

Next focus should be online. Create a comprehensive ranking system like iRacing and dedicated servers.

Hello, is here someone from AMS 2 / Reiza ?
Why is Thrustmaster T-GT (2) not supported ???

Such a famous wheel!
Also, can someone from Reiza explain why I am having difficulty enabling AMS2 FFB on my TSW wheel? It, too, is [was] a famous wheel!

What car are you trying? The Formula 3 is still not good regarding tires, but most other cars are (as others write here) close to perfect imo.

A lot of the cars. Some cars feel fantastic. The Ultima GTR has pretty much felt awesome since day 1. That I could drive all day. The Ginetta G58 is now also really good. Take a car like the F Retros and it gets very frustrating.
A sort of consistent experience I get in the "bad" cars is that it feels like far too little grip on the fronts and far too much grip on the rear and it makes the rotation of the car feel very unnatural. It also feels like sometimes (very sporadically) cars without TC or ABS behave like cars that do have them and vice versa. My point earlier was that Reiza said 1.3 was going to be this big game changer but the majority of people reinstalled the game and it was largely met with "Meh". The game is getting to where I think a lot of people hoped it would, it's just taking a lot longer than most thought.

1.3 and up was a big gamechanger for me. If you read the comments here then I don't see most people responding with "Meh". Before 1.3 yes, but after? Most people that tried again are enthousiast. I don't share the experience that you describe, in the past yes for sure, but now? No; almost all cars except a few (Formula 3 comes up in my mind and the VW Polo/passat) drive awesome/best in sim racing now to me.

You don't have to see meh responses. The fact that AMS2 is basically dead last in player base of currently supported racing titles tells you that.
It can be turned around, but there are some key things that need improvement with multiplayer being one of them. I know a few people are not pleased that 2 and a half years into full release and MP hasn't had much improvement.
It's great that you enjoy all the content and hopefully the game continues to improve and more people get onboard, but the numbers indicate that the majority of people don't like the game in its current state for whatever reason. 1.4 will no doubt move the game forward but I don't think it will be a revelation that will have the sim community buzzing either.
