Hyundai i30 Completes rFactor 2 Q3 Content Drop

It has been decided. After Gateway, Mini and Caterham, the final piece of content in Q3 will be a new BTCC car. And none other than the Hyundai i30.

Backed by positive feedback after the first 2 BTCC cars, Studio 397 aim to further its offering of the British Touring Car Championship.

As such, this release follows up on Studio 397's "intention to bring the full grid to life within rFactor 2".

Now, the previous statement was more interesting than the actual release of the car. The reason is simple:

We've Got More BTCC Coming!

If we take a look at the BTCC 2022 season, we can see the following cars:
  • Ford Focus ST
  • Hyundai i30 - coming Q3
  • Toyota Corolla GR - released Q2
  • BMW 330e M
  • Honda Civic Type R
  • Infiniti Q50 - released Q2
  • Cupra León
  • Vauxhall Astra
So if the aforementioned promise holds true for this season, there are still 5 more cars to come for the British series.

I look forward to the Vauxhall Astra most. But what would you like to see coming to rFactor 2? Let us know in the comments down below!

I own the game most of the content apart from the last year or so.
I don't get the reasoning behind comments such as your though. As with the Nascar content within rF2 and the Nascar games themself - those are two completely different products with completely different target audiences. I couldn't care less for those official lisenced games as I know who they are aimed at. Same as I haven't cared about official F1 games. Just be glad that we get such fantastic content in a high end moddable sim. I am not sure if we will get all the BTCC tracks but there are high quality versions for allmost all of them available.

Glad to know i wasn't the only one anticipating the Astra the most

i miss them being sold here in brazil

A licensed full (or nearly) grid of cars from a real world series? In a broader, more multi-purpose sim racing title than something like ACC? I looove it. Great stuff S397! :inlove:

Especially if more British circuits come with well-crafted AIW files by S397, this could be what finally gets me to buy rF2 DLC (I've been abstaining until more AI fixes come). Even as rF2 AI stands now – even with its issues I bemoan at times – it should do touring car road racing AI quite well, as long as some effort is put into each track's AIW file. Especially with the recent rain and pit logic AI improvements... which don't solve everything, but help lots.

And regardless, honestly, I'd love to support a sim racing developer providing more depth of content for a real-world series :) I'll be waiting until more of the cars are released, but if they are, I bet I'll open my wallet.

Content is randomly dropped in 2022. Not released, but dropped. It's raining cars and tracks. And S397 have become content creators, since they drop content. Next logical step is content droppings.

Lets be honest though us BTCC fans only really want 3 tracks that are overlooked completely in sim racing and they are Thruxton, Knockhill and Croft. The 3 of them made to the quality of Donington Park and Brands Hatch would be amazing

Welcome to see, but I will wait to buy it as a pack when its all complete. I have so much choice as it is. I can wait.

Wow definitely will get the BTCC, Caterham and Mini once they reached a more "mature" state

Great new content and presentation of it.

But when I actually try to play this game then it's always bugged somehow, the MP is empty or I have to buy new content constantly when I have to join. And the AI is completely unusable. Then the public MP servers, they only host terrible content (ugly mods) or the servers are empty or the are in nonstop practice (lemans).

So still unplayable. I'm not buying things for this game anymore until the issues above are fixed.

Same feeling here, content and physic are good and worth buying but you'll have to do the 12 labors of hercules to enjoy them in Rf2. We are in 2022.... The lack of overall ergonomy (UI even the newest one, mod ecosystem, AI, bugs, no championship mode, etc ) is a way more serious issue than they think. Strange that they think that adding more content will solve that. I agree there are people that don't care about ergonomy and manage to enjoy the sim but it's a small group of people if we look at player stats.

For the multi register you in game with the system of competition it functions very well, you say who there is nobody, the world attracts the world if nobody is able to wait and to remain on the server forcement there is nobody it is not the fault of S397, I have participated in a championship, some races were 20+ and some only 9, I still had fun, for the bugs personally, they are very rare, sometimes the game closes suddenly (like ACC) and sometimes when I go on the track I have no more FFB (thanks reset FFB touch) and for the AIs to say that it's unplayable is a bit too much of an exaggeration I think. ..

I do a lot of races in SP and I have lots of fun. There are flaws ofc like in each other sim driving the ai cause no one is perfect. I enjoy it. Looking forward to drive the new stuff. No brainer for me.
Meantime I will test Gateway im AMS2-beta. :)

For the 100000x time, the AI is NOT unusable and it's actually quite good if you invest roughly the same amount of time you did with your post here.
There are some tweaks on the player.json file which, coped with running "practice and quali" before racing (you can accelerate time), will eliminate 90% of the AI issues.
Should it be necessary for people to tweak the player.json file?
NO, but it takes 5 minutes, so...
