F1 22 | Portimão Circuit To Be Added For Free August 2nd

Portimao Coming to F1 22.jpg
F1 22 will receive an update on August 2nd that includes the return of the Portimão circuit.

Algarve International Circuit is not on the F1 calendar this season, but that won't stop sim racers from enjoying the 2022 cars on this Portuguese track.

F1 22 has confirmed that Portimão will be added to the game for free on August 2nd, and can be played in Time Trial and Grand Prix modes, or against other players in Multiplayer mode.

Formula 1 returned to Algarve International in 2020 due to a modified calendar, and then again in 2021. 2020's race in particular was an exciting outing for F1. Wet weather, an inexperienced field and a long pit-straight DRS zone led to lots of excitement on track.

The 2020 race was also one of the last displays of Kimi Räikkönen's greatness on track, as The Iceman gained 10 positions in just over one lap.

EA shared the news publicly via their social media channels, and included a virtual lap of the 4.65 kilometer circuit with Lewis Hamilton's W13. Hamilton's name is strongly linked with this track, as he won in both 2020 and 2021 and earned his record setting 92nd victory in 2020's event.

Will you drive the new circuit in F1 22? Let us know in the comments below.

Adding a new track, it comes across as polishing a turd. Codemasters as company, as some serious inner workings issue (quality, R&D, etc...).

There was a time when the official Codemasters F1 game had all tracks of the season. However, the year 2020 was a disaster for Codemasters as many of the in-game tracks were not raced and replaced by other tracks that were not in the game. I don't think they're over it yet with this loose bag. Portimao is a beautiful circuit. It is a pity that F1 no longer drives on it. Fortunately it is still possible in the F1 game, but it is a bit strange when you claim to be the official F1 racing game.

One of my FAVORITE circuits, not a game in my collection. To those who are fans of the game, I hope you enjoy the track.

i hope but not in career and not in myteam... wont be possible, so kinda useless to add track if we can just use it for time trial, GP or multi

I am not buying this game until I see the AI addressed in an update and the community reacts positively to it. AI was the great strength of the F1 games for me compared to all the sim racing titles on the market. If I am forced to hotlap due to unfair AI I would rather do that in AC.

Great track, a lot of fun to drive.

But I won't be driving it. This is the first time since 2017 that I haven't bought the F1 game in week 1, and still feel no motivation to do so. Nothing new in it excites me; I don't care about supercars, and while there is a new track, that happens to be Miami which I also don't hugely care about. F1 2021 can cater for all my wants atm. I might buy this one on sale if it ever gets a large discount.

Meanwhile, I'm much more excited for F1 Manager 2022 in a couple of weeks time. I'm on holiday for the release but that'll just give some time for the reviews to come out and then I'll make a decision to buy. But I'm certainly looking forward to it, I just hope it delivers.

The other thing this announcement fails to answer is why wasn't this included with the game from day 1? They had the track in 2021, and there are no apparent updates to it, so this just seems a little bit odd as to why it's being put on as a DLC instead of earlier.

Would be better adding classic cars and.classic tracks, like in F1 2013. No classic content no buy :D

Its the official F1 game, meaning they do things on the cheap. If they were serious, and I doubt they ever will be, they would have had the 21 version of Abu Dhabi in, you guessed it, 21, Mugello and Istanbul long ago and Imola much sooner than it appeared...Portimao is great, so its welcome, but I agree with others here, who cares about Miami, Saudi Arabia, soulless tracks. We need the ones mentioned by me above...ha, but this is the sport that has the German and French GPs in permanent danger, with Spa about to drop off the calendar...

To go further I was at the Spa 24h just gone...for 50 to 70 euros one sees 4 days of proper intense racing and can go on all the grandstands for no extra cost, and pretty free access to the pits. Even a grid walk if you pay a bit extra. And, yes, its busy, but not insanely hectic like F1...for the first time in many years I am happy not to attend an F1 event. Plus the engines sound like real racing engines
