2022 Formula One British Grand Prix

Silverstone is the site of the tenth race on the 2022 F1 calendar, with Red Bull and Max Verstappen looking dominant and two British drivers for Mercedes feeling optimistic.

A late safety car last time out in Canada looked to be the best hope for Max Verstappen's domination to be threatened, but even that wasn't enough to upset the reigning world champion.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz was following Verstappen closely through the closing laps in Montreal, but Verstappen looked as poised as ever and held off the Ferrari threat. That battle seems like a microcosm of how the season is currently unfolding.

Verstappen now holds a 46-point lead over Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in the driver's championship. It's a commanding lead, but Leclerc will bring a power unit to Silverstone that is only one race old, so this will be a great opportunity to narrow the points gap.

A DNF from Sergio Perez of Red Bull at the Canadian GP helped narrow the constructor's gap, but Red Bull is still 76 points ahead of Ferrari.

Mercedes' two British drivers will be hoping to carry momentum from Canada into their home Grand Prix this weekend. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell took third and fourth last race, respectively. It has been a challenging year for the Mercedes team, who had won eight straight constructor's championships entering 2022, but have yet to find the pace of Red Bull and Ferrari.

Russell is having an outstanding year in his first full-time seat in a competitive car, and finds himself ahead of Sainz in the driver's standings. This is an impressive feat and is largely due to his consistency in placing in the top five in each race so far this season.

Further down the order, the tight battle between McLaren, Alpine and Alfa Romeo continues. Alpine and Alfa Romeo claimed the sixth through ninth finishes in Canada, while a botched pit stop for McLaren held drivers Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo back at a critical point in the race.

Entering the British Grand Prix, there are still lots of questions left unanswered that will shape the remainder of the season. Are Red Bull's reliability issues enough to threaten their driver's and constructor's leads? Will Leclerc's upgrade help him close the gap to Verstappen? Will Mercedes' strong showing at Canada carry forward to Silverstone?

A lot has happened in F1's world before Silverstone GP:
Toto Wolf’s words about Horner.
RB’s decision about Juri Vips’s future
and what it means to Perez
Sir Jackie Stewart comments.
Bernie Ecclestone comments..
Lewis Hamilton asks for “action”.
FIA’s official statement about Nelson Piquet the senior translations,
Also the F1’s decision.
Max Verstappen’s future? ..etc
But the biggest talking point (in my opinion) is going to be Mercedes's anticipated upgrades, because if Mercedes matches its reliability with speed, cards will be shuffled.
Can’t wait to find out..only a few hours.

Very busy weekend, and girls and F2 and F3 and F1. I missed the races, have a good weekend and enjoy watching!

so you're allowed to wear wedding rings, crucifixes but not nose studs. What's the difference between these pieces of jewelry?

Only Lewis has the nose stud.

Why don't the FIA let the drivers sign a paper that states that if the driver is wearing a piercing no immediate MRI scan can be made in case of an accident? So in case of possible brain damage no research can be done and possible time critical life saving actions can be taken. If drivers are willing to take that risk, so be it. Problem solved.

Don't quote on on this, I mean quote me to correct me if I'm wrong. But it's not about the NOSE nor is it about meanings and symbols to him, it's about NOISE and about getting so much money for every commersial promotion he makes. (I haven't checked, but I strongly think that, those drivers don't feature a toothpick for free).

Speaking about Merc:
There are two interesting news I haven't had the time to fact-check, they are:

1- A lawyer who recently joined the FIA turned out to be Lewis Hamilton's own lawyer.. A big conflict of interests if true. I have a hard time to believe that it is true though.
2- Mercedes had had leaked info about FIA announcing unprecedented rules about new ideas for aero problems, and he gained unfair advantage over other teams. I have read this news once two weeks ago and never heard about any investigation since then. So if someone knows please share and care! (Although it might be useless only hours from now, if the new design already solves the disadvantages).

I thought everything was banned now?

edit i mean the prior ban enforced for everything.

This is my biggest problem with nu F1, it's become one big gossip fest; "he said", "she said" BS every week.
I'm hoping that the racing can start to do the talking soon, with some interesting battles on the track - not just dull DRS overtakes.

Hopefully Norris can get a podium for my home team, that would be great.

They ate popcorn and watched simulated laps. Lame session!

I wish that a Youtuber does the effort of analysing F1 pedal footages, and discuss what you learn from them if you want to set your pedals up like an F1 car (personally I want to simulate a road car but still I can't set them up)..

I would like new videos, instead of repeating:
"How to pass rookie" ‍♂️
"Sim racing on a budget"
"Your first upgrade is the pedals, not the wheel"
"2022 DLC key I got, by the way, I only played 2021 verson the day of release, same with 20 and same with 19 and with 18"
"I drove Spa so fast while gaming".

There is no shortage of interesting/ creative ideas: I have never seen a video comparing the true car to the simulated version, both modelling and behaviour, you can start by onboards and telemetry if you don't have a budget of studying the real car.
Another idea that I dream to see is comparing physics of an F1 team to our sims we play, I expect their sims to be too accurate that our sims are games in comparison.

(Sorry if it seems like shorts that are fired, I sometimes hate myself for not knowing how to sugar-coat things.)

The view of Lando Norrris' footwork is the best thing I have seen in F1 since I have been watching. That free lesson is priceless. As a sim pretender, I see a lot of info on pedal input, pressure, trail braking, but to see a pro do "the dance" made it all come together for me.

The way he bleeds off the brake and increases the throttle for balance was very instructional.

Yeah it's nice that you never see things like this.

Have you ever seen Walther Rörhl's feet?
