F1 22 Championship Edition Launch Just Hours Away

If you have pre-purchased the Championship Edition of F1 22, June 28 is when you can already be playing the new title by Codemasters and EA. Ahead of the release, a new launch trailer has been published.

“We can’t wait for players to jump into the game, and the trailer perfectly captures the excitement and emotion of competing at the highest level for the World Championship,” said Paul Jeal, F1 Senior Franchise Director at Codemasters. “Players will experience the ecstasy of taking their seat in the new era of Formula 1 and driving the car to the limit and beyond.”

F1 22 lets players live the life of a Formula 1 driver on and off the track. Alongside competing for the 2022 FIA World Championship™ in new revolutionary cars designed for greater competition, players can now experience rewards away from the circuit with the introduction of F1 Life. The new social hub allows players to personalise their avatar and apartment and show off their collection of supercars. Once acquired, the cars can be driven in the Pirelli Hot Lap feature, replicating the early part of the race weekend.

F1 22 Champions Edition featuring additional content and three days of early access, will release on June 28, 2022, for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC via Origin and Steam. The Standard Edition will release on Friday, July 1, 2022.

Have you purchased the Championship Edition with 3 days of early access? If so, will you be playing tomorrow already? Let us know in the comments below!

Really hoping they nail the VR implementation!!

Oh...I don't mean for me (as I don't have or plan to get VR), but man I can already see the metaphorical pitchforks if they **** the bed on VR performance/quality :roflmao:

Also, after that new trailer, get ready for the "How is Leclerc the new poster-boy for F1 games, when Max is WDC?" complaints...oh man, can't wait

you keep obsessed with Max..., I guess Max doesn't care if he's on the cover or not

He is on the cover, alongside Lewis, Seb, and Fernando but only if you buy the Champions Edition, probably because they are the four drivers currently active in F1 who have held a world title.

The Standard Edition has, from left to right, Lando, Charles, and George on the cover representing, I'm assuming, the up and coming young guns.

Well, I'm guessing that's the reason - marketing can be tiresome at times (most of the time actually)

Played for a couple of hours earlier. Not sure what all the hype about a new handling model was. Felt exactly the same to drive as it always did, sub par FFB and everything.

EA was the only one to hype it, right?
As does every developer every iteration of every game. :)

The game keeps on crashing at launch so i refunded it on steam.

This year is just a kick in the face, it`s so bad it`s not even funny anymore.

  • Still no mouse support in the same outdated menu`s as previous years.
  • These overhyped "supercars" are just horrible, the handling, sounds and models were probably fine back in 2005
  • The graphics overall look terrible maxed out on a 4k HDR monitor
  • The handling is exactly the same as previous years
  • Trigger Rumble bug is again present as it was in the previous year
  • Still a mess setting up controls with different devices enabled
  • STILL NO MOUSE SUPPORT IN MENU`S
I haven`t tried the VR mode yet but to be honest i`ve already uninstalled it after 15 minutes. I wish the license would just go to another developer, this is nothing more than an ordinary cashgrab, maybe even an outright scam.

I've collected all the F1 titles over the years, but i don't purchase them until they're on sale and been patched a couple of times. As they're just not worth the price of full retail upon release. So i'll get this one in time as well, usually 7-9 months later.

Same. I'll get it when it's 60% or more off. No way am I paying them anywhere near to full price for a lazy reskin and some sad mode where I can dress my driver and decorate his apartment. Jesus...

VR on Reverb G2, 3090, DDR5 RAM, intel 12th gen CPU works at 20 fps. Some kind of joke.
Sometimes I think what the simfluencers get and what we pay for are two entirely different products that just happen to look the same.

All of the "Work in progress" VR footage that I've seen has been running at at least 60fps (max youtube can provide I think) with some on lesser hardware than yours,

Oh boy...I have no obsession with Max my friend, trust me...you must not have caught the sarcasm through the translation (I believe you translate your messages from Dutch, corrrect?).

I was making fun of the people that will obsess over little things like that...I know full well Max probably doesn't care about it (and he is on the cover of the Champions edition anyways).

Has to be better than the ACC implementation. Or at least it can't be that much worse. Hoping it gets the 10 hour trial treatment on EA Play.
I hope it will be Automobilista 2 alike

i just really hope we can finally, truly, disable sense of speed camera shake.
Why ? did you see a helmet cam that FIA provide for us since this season ?
I would say they even turned shaking down a notch. or two :geek:

In Madden series there's whole new religion about who's on cover. and who's not :D
people vote, people fight, harsh words being used you know...

I've had a little session with it on Imola and Silverstone, and my conclusion is that it's F1 20XX

It's not taxing my system much at all, but I do run V-Sync as I hate screen tearing - Funnily enough with V-Sync I'm not really getting any noticeable lag, unlike ACC. Frame rates are stable with no drops unlike 2021 when it was first released. The only issue I'm having is that it complains about my Nvidia driver on every launch. I am admittedly running an older driver, but there are reasons why, and I've not had any in game issues so far.

FFB is, well, serviceable - it's not going to wow, but it works and gives enough info to drive the car. It's basically the same as last year, the year before, and the year before that.

My wheel and pedals could be quickly configured despite being separate and not being on the compatible list - I think the compatible list that's published just includes the devices that the dev has tested and that any wheel and pedals will work as long as they're Direct Input devices - which I think is pretty much all of them.

It's working with simhub and my buttkickers. The UDP output needs to be set to 2021 but only because simhub needs to be updated to support 22's telemetry.

F1 Life is a total waste of space.

I've yet to try VR, but will do soon.

All in all pretty much what was expected honestly. Basically a very expensive DLC for F1 2021 or F1 2020.

I have loaded F1 22 Champions Edition on PC and launched it a few times, but it doesn't seem to detect my Thrustmaster TSXW, and it also doesn't detect the SF1000 so the Screen just displays the Thrustmaster logo. I am uninstalling and reinstalling via Steam, but don't think that will make any difference. F1 2021, F1 2020 and F1 2019 are all working fine, as are all my other games, and the TSXW and SF1000 have the latest Firmware. I have also checked to see if Thrustmaster have released any new Drivers or Firmware but nothing as of yesterday.

Does anyone else have the same issue or can offer suggestions? Anyone else have the same problem?

I don't care who's on the cover. very important. Might have wanted to try this game because I just like F1 but no mouse support and keep your vr glasses in the menu, s.. 20 fps I think I'll skip this one. Sad!
