Teammates of the Formula 1 paddock came together to guess their driver ratings in the newest game in the F1 series by Codemasters. Included of course in the video are the final driver stats.

An Explanation of the Stats

These stats are dynamic, meaning the game’s My Team mode will update every few races, reflecting the action and drama on and off the track.

For the first time, Codemasters has changed the algorithm, so the stats are more representative of a driver’s current form and less reliant on their legacy. Formula 1 experts Anthony Davidson, David Croft, and Alex Jacques have also collaborated with the studio to look beyond the pure data and separate man from machine.

The launch day ratings are compiled up to and including this year’s FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DE MONACO 2022. The dynamic ratings are broken into four categories alongside an overall score. The categories are:
  • Experience (EXP): This is based on the number of race starts a driver has over the course of their career
  • Racecraft (RAC): The driver’s ability to work their way through the pack and finish in a higher position than where they started
  • Awareness (AWA): The less time spent in the Steward’s room will help drivers here. Real-world punishments will impact the score in this category
  • Pace (PAC): Benefits those who get closest to the fastest qualifying and race lap times. A driver beating their teammate is also taken into consideration
  • Rating (RTG): The combination of the previous four ratings. This overall rating will go up and down throughout the season based on performance
“Now a mainstay for other EA SPORTS titles, our dynamic Driver Ratings continue to stir the drivers' emotions, and it’s great to see the camaraderie and banter between teammates,” said Paul Jeal, F1 Senior Franchise Director at Codemasters. “Our new panel of F1 experts will work closely with us to ensure F1 22 reflects what happens on the track, and we know the updates will lead to even more debate over the course of the season.”

The F1 22 Driver Ratings are a key element of My Team, the driver-owner game mode. New for 2022, My Team now includes three starting points: Newcomer, Midway Challenger, and Championship Contender, allowing players to decide if they want to work their way up from the bottom or go for the win straight out of the gate.

F1 22 will release July 1, 2022, for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and PC via Origin and Steam. Players can pre-order the digital-only F1® 22 Champions Edition for additional content and three days of early access.

Are there any surprises for you in the ratings? And more importantly, will you be getting F1 22? Let us know down in the comments below.

No way Norris is the most consistent. The most consistent has to be george at the moment.

I completely agree on Russel. Other one would be Verstappen. His DNF's were out of his control and when he finished he was only P2 once so for, the rest race wins.
Not to mention his long string of podium finishes every time he finished a race going back before this season.

Was actually thing about this version until I found out even with Steam version you got have:

Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required.
Requires 3rd-Party Account: EA Account
Requires agreement to a 3rd-party EULA

Fck that..

OMG, thanks for letting me know. If I decide to buy this, I'll play a pirated version instead and keep the official one uninstalled. Don't care about online racing for this game anyway.

As in play the 'back-up' copy of the game you purchased legitimately, (legal here, so not condoning straight up piracy with this post) but this DRM BS still sucks and really we should not support this by buying the game.
So I probably will just stay clear of this game, like all but the one F1 game I bought and only played a couple of hours at most. Enough good sims to purchase & play anyway.

I don't see a lot of problems with these ratings...
Take out the experience stat and how the ratings are given change, it is a useless stat and all it serves is to pump up stats for older drivers to give them a better rating because the other attributes that do matter are off.

I disagree with 90% of the ratings of the above list and the form slumps not being included is pointless, that is how that driver is performing right now, who is to say they will return to the form they had last season? a number of drivers have not been close to how they were driving last year from not only the results but also how they've looked from onboards and comments they themselves have made saying they've not got on top of the current gen cars and the opposite for various others (Perez being the obvious one) who has been significantly better than he was last season.

Experience in the current F1 games governs how likely the AI driver is to earn additional resource points in free practice. So it makes the car faster over time, and I do think it's fair to include experience in the overall calculations. Besides, pace is by far the main determining factor towards overall, and experience is treated as the secondary stat that it is.

My one extra remark about my previous post is that if we say that Ocon's rating of 83 is "correct", Alonso should instead come down to an 86. It depends on whether or not you believe age has truly caught up to Fernando.

Did you not feel the sarcasm dripping off my posts? As what I typed 100% contradicted what is seen in the actual video ;)

I 100% agree with your posts I quoted, was just kidding around
Well, you got me good.

Experience: Very low:
Lifelong car enthusiast. But if what matters is virtual racing: Has tried different things instead of sticking to one thing. But participation and number of race starts in general are very low.

Race craft: High:
Real life NA because there are not too many races done so that it's enough to evaluate. Virtual: Well, never finishes in the top spots. But always finishes. And always finishes in a much better position than where started. So high.

Awareness: Low:
In real life driving: Claims to be god-like in preventing accidents and reactions. But in both real-and-virtual racing: Not so good and not so aware of surroundings. So low.

Pace: Very low:
Claims to be extremely fast in everyday driving and an on-the-limit driver. And mildly fast or at least not embarrassing in racing. In virtual racing: Was horribly slow when tried sim racing, like 3-4 seconds off the pace. So very low.

can the ratings change in myteam/career mode? All the drivers constantly changed every few races, but Im 2 seasons in and the only thing that changes is focus. Is this a bug or do the ratings only change with official ratings updates now?
