Automobilista 2 | v1.3.7.1 Released to Steam

Automobilista 2 May 2022 Update Released.jpg
A new update for Automobilista 2 has been released to Steam, bringing more cars forward to the latest tire model and driveline physics.

AMS2's monthly updates tend to be either content-rich or physics-focused, and the May, 2022 update is the latter. The significant improvements to the feel of vehicles in the sim that have been achieved through driveline elasticity and tire carcass refinements are being applied to more cars with each update.

This month's update notably focuses on various formula cars in the title. F-Vintages, F-Retros, F-Classics, F-V12, F-V10, F-Reiza, and F-Ultimate cars have all been improved, meaning that roughly 60 years of Formula 1 inspired vehicles can be better enjoyed.

For those who have struggled to find appropriate levels of AI performance or consistent behavior, updates have also been applied to single player racing that should address issues faced when driving the formula cars, Super V8, GT3 or 2019 Stock Cars.

While this update won't dominate headlines, it is a nice step forward for a lot of the content overdue for improvements in this racing sim. Let us know your thoughts on this update or anything else Automobilista 2 related in the comments below.

While there are still some very annoying bugs to be fixed, this has now become the new standard when it comes to driving feel (at least all the cars they've been working on lately).

Multiplayer is also more active and I've had better racing here than on ACC (which honestly I haven't enjoyed in a while). I've spent a lot of time on iRacing lately but launching this after the update just felt like coming home, everything felt right.

I doubt it will ever reach the popularity it deserves (they released it WAY before they should have and it has tainted the opinion of a lot of people, but that's on Reiza), but when it comes to pure driving excitement there's nothing else like it.

am i the only one who dosent like the car sounds , pretty much all cars ??
Yea, sound is another topic, the same like on iR, best sound at leats on my headphones Hyperx cloud 2 or Mezze 99c is on ACC, after this Raceroom, AmS2 is 3rd place/4th if will mention AC :)

Agreed. Everything is regularly improved and the sim really seems to be coming together. The sounds could still be much better IMHO, for me it's the only remaining 'let-down'.

Anyone knows if the demo gets the same updates?
Installed my rig again and played mostly ac, forza 4 for casual fun, and acc.
Tried yesterday the demo after reading in vr its one off the best looking games.and must say i agree, even ac with sol... but the force feedback ,don't have a connection with the game, in demo a basic volkwagen gti, wheels squeek like crazy and no feedback, like driving on ice , can change wheel direction without any feedback, abs doesn't give feedback, and so goes on the list off not liking it? Tried custom ffb, and yes wheel feels heavier but thats it....

Maybe it's just me but the GTE and GT3 cars behavior under heavy braking or close to lock up still feels weird. It has a tendency to bring the back end around and this seems to be a AM2 problem since released although it has gotten better, it's still no where as nature and controllable as R3E, AC, ACC and RF2

When they gonna fix raining in some cockpit of cars. I really dont think they can though.......

Try reducing the rear bumpstops. The default setups used to have no bumpstops in place, now they are 10mm by default. Lower that or reduce completely and it helps alot when breaking into corners. Hope it works for you!

I was having a discussion with a friend the other day about AMS2. I went all-in and bought the complete package before release.
My feeling is that I don't personally care for the feel they're trying to achieve. It pains me to say it because I hold Reiza in the highest esteem and think they're among the best in the biz.

It seems that with every update, the game drifts farther away from what *I* want in terms of feel, content and features.

"You can't please all of the people all of the time" and in this particular case I guess I'm one of the outliers.

I really feel they have a solid base now and this is my go to sim. Yes there are still things to iron out but frankly, they've done miraculous work getting that engine to this level. The cars are for the most part predictable and consistent with what I expect to happen. I love that I can get into a race quickly, the menus are fast and make sense. I love what Reiza are doing. Le Mans please Reiza! :D

What I wanted to say here has already been said. Keep doing what you're doing Reiza, the new update is amazing once again. The Ginetta G40C's and the Formula Classics are so so much better now/close to perfect imo(only 2 cars that I've tried until now from the update).

It's sad but true what BlaKArg said "they released it WAY before they should have and it has tainted the opinion of a lot of people, but that's on Reiza". Many people don't bother to try it again, because the game looks the same so they expect that the cars react the same as ~1 year ago. It clearly isn't the case, after all the latest updates AMS2 is my only go to sim, simply unmatched for me by the competition in terms of "alive car feeling" and VR support. Yes the sounds could be improved(ACC sounds better to me too) and the MP could and should be improved, but for the rest: AMS2 is unmatched for me, it's THAT good. Thanks for this great update once again, I hope that the other remaining cars follow with the new tires model.

This title has made massive steps forward and still has loads more steps to make.

After buying Raceroom last week I can now say I have every sim available and none one is perfect but all have strengths and weakness in various areas.

Everyone has their gripes.... Mines multiplayer.. RF2 and AMS2 would be the best sims for me if multiplayer was there... I can't see no hope for Rf2 MP.

Hoping before the end of the year we start to see MP get more attention.

If not Rennsport is the last hope.

AMS2 has been a frustrating experience. Had the game been released in it's current state, I think maybe I would feel differently and more positive. When the game was released, and for at least a year afterward this game did essentially nothing to differentiate it from Project Cars 2. The cars handled extremely poor and to compound the issue, you had the staunch defenders going on crusades trying to justify the game and that just turned more people off.

The driving experience is now solid-ish but I wouldn't call it industry leading. There are still times that strange things happen that just feel wrong.
Rating system is poor, multiplayer is a total deal breaker, ai is no better than any other game and there are just hosts of bugs that rear their head that just make me not want to play this game. Reiza are a tiny studio and it is taking them too long to fix these items. For now I am done being an experiment and maybe I'll reinstall in a year or 2 to see if it lives up to it's potential. Right now there are too many turn offs.

I would say out of all the sims i get the most active feedback in AMS2. So i would say maybe something wrong with how you have it setup. Maybe the car is not the best to be testing as its a road car with little ffb irl.
