WRC Generations Coming to PC and Console This October

A new WRC title from the Nacon and KT Racing team is coming to PC and console this October featuring new and classic rally cars.

Details are sparse so far, but rally sim fans will be racing the latest generation of rally cars, plus 37 classic rally cars in a new title known as WRC Generations this October.

The announcement from the official WRC game account showed some cinematic shots of the new title, which appear to have a lot in common with recent installments in KT Racing's WRC series.

The announcement referenced the seven year period where KT Racing (Kylotonn) has held the development rights to the WRC series. This is soon coming to an end, as Codemasters will reassume the rights beginning next year.

WRC Generations will be the first WRC game title to feature hybrid powertrains, and will target recreating the 2022 WRC series. But much like WRC 10, classic content will be a key feature of the title.

The closing screen of the announcement video shows that Steam, the Epic Store, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X/S will each be getting a version of WRC Generations.

What are your thoughts on this announcement? Are you a fan of KT Racing's rally titles to date? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter @RaceDepartment!

I imagine they went with this name instead of "11" because it would be competing with EA's WRC game, which will be out before April, if rumors are to be believed. That's two WRC games in six months.

I don't follow WRC too deeply, but why is WRC3 not in this years game? It looks like WRC1 and 2 are there under the new hybrid era names, but WRC3 moved in that direction too, didn't it?

It could have been good news good news, WRC will not be made by Kylotonn, sounds great, the even better news is some developer with talent and passion will develop a WRC game, instead we get good news bad news, WRC will not be made by Kylotonn, sounds great, it is going to made by Codemaster, bad news.
Wake me up when something new and interesting happens, getting bored with news of the same old same old. Only advantage is that I do not have to spend any money as I can keep enjoying what I have been enjoying for 7 years and still not be missing anything. :roflmao:

I'm intrigued! Hope they iron out the bugs from WRC 10, so they have a solid 'last hurrah' with the WRC license. I'm not optimistic about this, though

It's called "Generations" so I'm assuming the game's main focus will be on all sorts of different generations and eras of rally. I hope this is true because just driving the same few 4WD hatchbacks (modern WRC cars) is not that inspiring to me.

Hopefully, the graphics are more like WRC 9. I don't like what they did with graphics in WRC 10, especially at night and with rain. It's barely playable when using cockpit views. Even during the day though, I just find WRC 9 easier on the eyes.

Other than that, I've been playing WRC 10 on PC but I just gave up on it because it just didn't run well at all. My PC may not be a beast (1660ti with i5 9400F), but this game is just poorly optimized. I recently got the console version for Series X and it finally runs great. I even bought WRC 9 as well, but without DLC. I have to use a gamepad as my wheel is a Logitech G29, but it's still fun. They really should've optimized it better for those who only have a PC though.

WRC 10 is great because of the classic content (it has few important cars not in DiRT Rally 2.0 like the Celica and Xsara, latter of which is also in WRC 9) and WRC 9 is great to have for the graphics that I find better than in 10. I wish I could have both in a single game though - the content and the graphics.

I don't expect much from Generations, all I really need is WRC 10 but with better (easier on the eyes) graphics. My big wish is for Generations to have all the rallies from previous KT titles so that it would be an ultimate KT Racing WRC game. It most likely won't happen, but it would've been a great way to say goodbye.

I will not spent not 1 Cent on that crap.
Ive made already a mistake to buy Wrc8 and 10.
Can remember how many users here and lot of youtubers prised that **** as the best wrc game.
I was skeptical as hell but dumb enough to buy that ****.

I dont believe not even one word from them because Wrc10 was already born dead at beginning
and after few months its dead and nothing changed.
They grabbed the money from people and give a toss about customers.

Zero reaction on user complains about shitty ffb and tons of bugs.
They didnt fixed anything but lot of people are again hyped to buy next crap now labeled as Wrc generations.....wow.

After the trailer i can assume following things.... same shitty genereic sound, poor graphics mixed with real video scenes, some dramatic background music to cover the shitty engine sounds and hype people with "the new hybrid cars".
They have wrc licenese and cant even record proper car and interior sound.... lol... pathetic.
How long did they develped it?
Right... few months.
So this will end up like all the unfinished and buggy games before....

And even when they implement VR (what i do not believe) i guess this will end up in a bugfest.
NO THANKS!
Now you can throw stones at me :D

no gsync, forced fixed refresh rate at 60hz or 120hz.....no VR, no HDR.
They never succeed to put all the rallies content in one game, even with DLCs, Dirt rally 2.0 DLCs was golden method if you wanted everything.
WRC 10 was unoptimised, with half performance of WRC 9, with 2% of improvement....

It will be interesting to see what happens to this series once developed by Codies. I think the launch of F1 2022 will give us an accurate roadmap of what to expect in the future. I must admit I am a huge EA critic but they are bringing VR to F1 2022 after many years of fans asking for it. After watching a lot of the early access VR game play I am cautiously optimistic but time will tell.

[ from Steam ] :
" In order to make the representation of the championship even more realistic, a completely redesigned Rally Sweden environment has been added, with 6 brand-new special stages in the Umea region.

About time. They've had the same Rally Sweden stages in the game for a lot of years now. Since 2017.

" This season’s WRC calendar is notable because it includes the return of Rally New Zealand for the first time since 2012. However, this was originally scheduled for inclusion in 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic jettisoned the plans.

As the result, the stages were already developed for the WRC 9 game, then carried over as part of a 50th Anniversary mode within WRC
10.
The same applies to Rally Japan, with its stages already present since WRC 10, despite it not making its real-world debut until later this season...
WRC Generations will also include nine other locations outside of the current WRC calendar – we suspect these will include existing stages developed by Kylotonn such as Chile, Wales Rally GB and Ypres, Belgium. This will total 165 stages.."

:) VR News added :
Not only will F1 '22 feature new track configurations, but it is also set to showcase VR for the first time in series history, albeit on PC only for the time being. :D
Someone will be very happy, now.
Who is this one person?

Apparently it comes with 22 rallies, so that means we'll be getting 9 that aren't in this year's calendar. I think I read elsewhere that there were 8 countries represented in WRC8/9/10 that aren't being run this year, so I would hope we get those and then San Remo or the old Spain, Portugal, or Sweden.

The question I have is whether we'll be able to actually run the non-2022 rallies in a custom season or at least a quick rally mode or if they'll just be for hotlapping and online stuff like Wales/Chile in the final version of 10.
