Fanatec Reveals More About Upcoming Rally Button Module

Fanatec Shares More About Rally Wheel 01.jpg
Sim hardware manufacturer Fanatec has shared more details about its upcoming Podium Button Module Rally.

Hardware manufacturer Fanatec unveiled a few more pictures of an as-yet unreleased product today, and shared many more details of what customers can expect from their Podium Button Module Rally.

While the ordering of the words in the name Podium Button Module Rally may be questioned, the quality cannot. Much like their BMW M4 GT3 wheel, Fanatec's Button Module Rally is designed to be equivalent to what is used in real racing. The same button module can be found in the 2022 Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 WRC cars.

While most of the photos of the Button Module Rally show the unit as a complete wheel assembly, Fanatec was careful to note that the button module is actually mounted to a other Fanatec wheels, which are sold separately.

The unit will feature:
  • nine buttons with RGB backlighting
  • two D-pads
  • three 12-way multi-position switches
  • a 1” OLED display
No official word has yet been given on pricing or availability dates.

Yes finally! Glad to see fanatec taking rally seriously. The first wrc wheel was a nice entry level product but the more serious rally fan was lacking something decent.

Is podium their elite bit of kit? So if I bought an aftermarket wheel and stuck this on, would it work on a csw 2.5? Kinda like my universal hub...or am I way off the mark here?

No paddle shifters? Even a DIY version I built myself has shifters. At least it looks pretty I guess.

This module is connected to the wheelbase via USB c into the podium or clubsport hub v2.
The clubsport hub comes with shifter paddles, the podium hub comes with nothing.

As Ole said real rally cars don't have shifter paddles, so it wouldn't make sense to bundle paddles with this rally extension.

I'm wondering about the price though...

I love my McLaren v2 for alllllll the buttons it has. But I'd love to get a round leather rim with the clubsport v2 hub.
I'd lose a lot of functions though...

The endurance module is ugly af imo. I know it looks like the real Porsche car but.. Still ugly.
This fancy rally module though with the rotaries might be awesome though.
But probably as expensive as the rest of the wheel lol...

They should have released: a simple ClubSport Button Cluster Pack with exactly that D-pad / JOYSTICK from this "rally button module" added and nothing more. I am waiting for that simple module since I've bought the DD2, but now they came up with this nonsense.

It's such a shame that Fanatec refuses to release this, since it's now impossible to use a joystick with the Podium hub besides with this stupid module. This while it's technically possible, proven by this nonsense to expensive button module with many nonsense functions that nobody is interested in.

I am now forced to buy this module if I want to use a joystick on my custom momo-wheel, this while I am only interested in the simple joystick function and the regular 6 buttons. I refuse to do that, I just use a controller for the menu's instead.

this is meant to bolt to the podium hub, which is where your paddles would be. maybe it works with the clubsport hub too? not sure about that one. but ya, this is essentially an alternative to adding the little 3-button stalks to the hub.

im 95% sure the button modules for the clubsport hub will plug into the podium hub too, so you could get that set which has a 7 way switch. not sure how many button modules will plug into the podium hub though. i would hope its 5 like the CS hub, but i dont have one so not sure.

I'm staring at the Rally Button plate, and I am not seeing where the D pads are. I guess it's the lights and the fog trips switches, but I could be wrong.

Top left and right.

which 'serious rally sim' you gonna play with it where you can use all these functions?

That's what I have now, the "ClubSport Button Cluster Pack", it's just 30 euro, it has everything that I need BESIDES the D-pad / joystick. There is no alternative for this simple product with a joystick, the first thing that fits on the podium wheel and that has a joystick is this stupid rally button module thing.

They refuse to produce something affordable like the button cluster pack which includes an simple joystick function. They do it on purpuse so that people that REALLY want a joystick spend 300 euro+ for it because there is no other option. (they didn't announce the price yet, but I'm sure that it will be to much for "a joystick function")

I am so sad that I chose for Fanatec, it's an terrible company. They also wanted "proof" that a shifter was missing shifts before they send a replacement! I had to video this, it took me DAYS of my life to prove it and I gave up in the end.. I'm stuck now with a non functioning wheel(which I replaced with my own money). If I couldn't prove it on video they didn't want to give warranty. And it happened only once in the few hundered shifts; so how on earth could you video that? They do everyhing to get extra money EVERYTHING.

So I really can't wait until racedepartment / reiza / kunos / all youtubers etc. etc. and all other sponsors start to push them to give their users better support, this since they all advertise for them.

It's only a button plate from Fanatec, sw is not included. You can attach that to any 6x70 steering wheel
