BMW M4 GT3 Coming to rFactor 2

Studio 397 has confirmed yet another new piece of content coming to rFactor 2, the BMW M4 GT3.

The announcements just keep coming for rFactor 2. We’ve already told you about three pieces of content scheduled to be released into the sim next week as DLC: Daytona International Speedway, the Ligier JS P320 LMP3 car, and the new INDYCAR IR-18. And now we know there will be one more piece of content, the BMW M4 GT3.

BMW’s latest entry into the GT3 class, the M4 GT3, is powered by BMW’s M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine, capable of 590 horsepower. It offers slightly more power, improved aerodynamics, and better drivability than its predecessor, the M6 GT3.

The M4 GT3 joins a growing roster of GT3’s on offer in rFactor 2, including cars from Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Callaway, McLaren, Mercedes, Porsche, Radical and Ferrari. Sim racing’s most popular racing class is well represented in rF2, and the growing selection of official tracks complement these cars well.

RFactor 2 isn’t the first sim to have the M4 GT3 as official content, as iRacing and Assetto Corsa Competizione already welcomed the car to their respective content offerings. Despite mixed opinions on the looks of the M4 GT3, the car remains well used in both of those sims.

With so much high-profile content coming to rFactor 2, which do you want to drive first? Let us know in the comments below.

So three cars and one track in one push? That's like 20-25EUR worth of content, all of it endurance focused, which is more or less useless for sinlge player in rF2's current state?

Where I'm coming from is, I haven't had much to say about rF2 in recent times becaue I didn't use it at all. I've recently reinstalled rF2 because I was interested in the new UI, which I like very much. But as soon as I was in a race session, it was of course more of the same and not much fun at all after the third race restart in the first lap.

The core issues are well known by now, so I'm not bringing them up again, but I'm not investing anymore money until we're back to a usable state for single player racing that is more complex than 10 laps single make in dry conditions.

"Don't like it, don't play it" :)

Following the introduction of the new UI, much better than any other previous iteration, seeing S397 offering (for a fee) new DLC content demonstrate a will to continue support for this title.
This should be great news for those still into RF2.
We have many SIM available to us, but not that many, so seeing S397 still working and supporting this one is good news for all of us.
I wish that like in R3E, their was a way to test new paid content for free, I would not mind trying the latest from RF2 and who knows where that could lead me. :)

Decided to give RF2 an another round after the new UI. The UI is good but it's not a revolution , it's just a replacement of the old two that didn't worked well. No need to celebrate it. The bugs are still here. Those was among the reason we left the sim as most of them are intolerable and prevent the player to have decents sessions. I've forgot them as I didn't play the sim for a while. Aaaaand boom cold bath again...something like wheel not having feedback suddenly during races, those rear view mirrors that do watever they like even if you setup them in every single race with this AWFUL "mirror" "mirror" robotic voice. This hysteric spotter voice "outside! outside" which is like someone that is selling some fishes on the fish market. Being forced to tweak those PLR files to get some basic settings done...it's like tweaking a game during the stone age....Those workshop mods cars or track that are often almost more than 1 gigas size for a poorly rendered and low resolution mesh and textures. And the list is long.

Like the previous guy said, may be it's time to focus on Rfactor 3? RF2 seems fundamentally broken and more content will not solve that. S397 is not the kind of studio that is able to release update and patches on weekly basis to solve all those problems. Rf2 also don't have so much time left, the competition is fierce.

Coming to rFactor 2
9 years of delayed updates, graphics and bug fixes. We have decided to not release any more content until our "ride or die" supporters have the bug free game they deserve. Along with our untouchable FFB, we believe this will put us back in the conversation of the best driving sims.

Ok, I am awake now. What the hell was that dream ? :whistling:

Oh, and if the M4 GT3's performance at Daytona was any indication, it's not a car anyone would want.

Hope we get updated AI selection for the Ui and content wise some more prototype stuff, hopefully lmh or lmdh. Recent updates with UI have been a nice step in the right direction
The AI selection has improved slightly, as you can select individual AI cars while already on track. Should be before and this has been requested AGAIN by many people, so there is hope.

If you don't like it, don't drive it.
Simple as that.

I'm looking forward to try the M4, will see if it feels right for my taste.
Unfortunately it will come still with the current tyres. They have not been able to fine tune all other GT3 cars in order for them to receive the new tyres (including getting the BOP right). Hopefully this will come on the next quarter...

You obviously did not look well into what is available on the workshop :-D
Road Atlanta, Daytona 2022, Road America, Watkins Glen, ... just to name 4 american tracks done to extremely high level, to which you can add, literally dozens of other quality tracks (for instance, a new Bahrain is coming in the coming days).
And on cars, surely you have not tried the ByKolles LMP1, nor the Acura Dpi, nor Apex's IndyCar2020... nor the 1975 F1 Mod, etc...
I don't question that you may not like the user experience, but on the contents of the workshop, you are not getting it right.

Yes, the pet bugs remain there :-D
But one of the major ones appears to have been resolved - the origin of the server crashes which ruined the Nords Virtual LM Series race was, allegedly found and corrected (24H Lemans went uneventfully - problems with 2 or 3 teams were from Client's side, not Server)

They need the money after all the Nascar fail! They don't really care for RF2, it has been pretty obvious the last 6 years.

Specially when the offered the BMW M4 Class 1 for free, the revamped Zandvoort, ... yeah, they only care for money :-D

Yeah, because you can't keep giving free stuff to keep the interest and you seurely don't need to keep updating old content because it won't help make the sim sell you know... This is the kind of logic that made me repeat things a million times to all of discord guys, but whatever! Not all on s397 are the same I'm sure, but the whole vibe is about money.
