Polyphony Digital Takes Us For a 4K Ride at Daytona

Polyphony Digital shared a 4K video of both onboard and TV replays of a lap at Daytona International from the upcoming Gran Turismo 7.

Just 50 days remain until the release of Gran Turismo 7 to PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, and developer Polyphony Digital is showing more of what players can expect on release day.

The latest teaser is a 4K video shared to both YouTube and the official Gran Turismo Twitter account, which shows a racing Porsche weaving through traffic on a lap of Daytona International Speedway. Both the onboard footage and a TV replay are featured in the video.

The footage from the game is undoubtedly gorgeous, but if the current footage is indicative of the driving experience at release, it looks to be much the same as Gran Turismo Sport, a title that didn't meet the standards of many hardcore sim fans.

Gran Turismo 7 is set to be released on March 4th of this year, and all indications so far point to a return to the Gran Turismo series' roots. Players will be able to grow and customize a huge car collection, and many of favourite fantasy tracks will be making a return.

Will you be playing GT7 on release, waiting for reviews, or are you not interested at all? Let us know in the comments below.

Graphics looks quite good but still many flaws on other aspects. For example, SOUNDS and i don't know if they had improve the physics yet, at least we saw a gameplay

Looks great but I ask myself why it is a $500 console can get graphics like that and my PC crashes when I try and run ACC or AMS2 with mid-range settings at 1080p and forget about at night or in the rain.
ACC barely gets hit by night and rain(it does get hit in general)..AMS2 yes it does its a world of difference between day and the rest... and if you say you are getting hit hard at 1080p at 60 FPS , m8 , im sorry but the problem are not the games :) , and if you can find a PS5 for 500 bucks please point me to it , also..its general knowledge that SONY and MS if need be loose money selling you the console and then retrieve it by selling you services and games...

Generally people that complain the games are heavy on the pc also forget to mention they play in triples, ultra wides or VR and want way more then 60FPS ... 1080P @60 is no longer the benchmark to go for ..

My laptop with 5 years can play ACC maxed at 1080P@60

i7 7700 +1070mobile...

I'm shocked by the comments if I'm being honest....

Not impressed at all. Shadows look terrible, buttons and switches on the wheel look terrible and toyish like, framerate looked bad too. And looks like AI from AC1, a train of cars with minimal reaction....

Agree, me too. It looks terrible to me! Not impressed at all. Look how the cars inside look at ACC/AMS2 for example, WAY better.

"The footage from the game is undoubtedly gorgeous"

I don't agree with that at all.

I bought a PC 6 months ago to play sims. The biggest shock for me was just how similar titles like AMS2 feel to GT Sport.

Yes, there is a vast difference in the race options, strategy, and what have you with PC sims. But in terms of the driving experience, GT Sport is 90% there. By comparison, I’d say something like the Grid series is 25% sim like! No sim has impressed with their AI. But the GT series has now nailed online racing in public lobbies.

I’ve been impressed with AMS2’s visuals. Particularly track detail. But even maxed out it’s still some way off the photorealism GT Sport achieves. With GT7, on PS5, that gap will increase significantly. We’ve also yet to see GT7’s full dynamic weather.

The PC sim market is a little dull to be honest. AC is desperately outdated, same for RF2 & iRacing. ACC still looks great, but I’ll never understand how people can drive GT3/GT4 cars, everyday.

AMS2 is the one PC sim that excites me and aiming to be the complete package. Yes, you could argue they need to have greater focus, and specialise in a specific area. But I enjoy how they cover the history of motorsport and all series.

For years I was a Gran Turismo nut, bought PS2 and PS3 primarily for the GTs. But since the likes of Pcars and AC brought graphics up to the levels of GT I've never thought about getting another GT and PS. Didn't help that the last GT I got (5) was a collossal let down. Also if they continue with no quali and 3-5 lap mad sprints in career mode then it's another "no thanks" from me. The only good thing about it is it'll bring more young gamers into the sim market. And the only thing I'd like to get from GTs to PC sims is the budget and size of the team.

I'm not in the slightest interested in GT or any console game for that matter.

But this is exactly how I'm dreaming a hypothetical "iRacing 2" would look. A mixture of great lighting, looking nice but looking clean.

why they even bother creating the car internal view while on racing 99% use the wipe ass on asphalt camera. Maybe they should make some daily race with locked cockpit cam.

The visuals are great for a console. Doesn't matter, no PS5 available and for sims the feeling is more important than eye-candy. If you like simcades go with it. I will stick to AC, ACC and AMS2.

Gran Turismo..... if you wanna call it BEATING/WINNING the sim.....I did that....I have been a REAL professional driver for over 35 years and sure the kids these days will get mom or dad to buy it ,but lets face it MOST of us who have had a PC that can really run a good racing simulation have dropped a pretty penny on our rigs. Now a days with the addition of motion to the simulations and the VR head sets......We are in hog heaven...!! I have to agree the multi class racing with no real definitive speed difference really did make it seem more arcade like than simulation. I did however like that the graphics are getting better and better from the Polyphony Digital people.....I will give them that........I will stay a PC Driver as a hobby and use my laser scanned tracks to help those racers find the line before they really get on a track that's where my passion is now since.....I can't race anymore at 168 M.P.H. like I use to due to having L-4,L-5, S-1 spinal injury from my last big wreck!!!!

Of course no title is for everyone; it's fine of you don't care for console titles. I have all the pc sims, love real world track days and have attended multiple driving schools and yet I still manage to have fun with GT Sport. For a controller based game, it handles well if you use the right car. It's fun, gorgeous and pays great attention to cars, history and car culture.

You can drive/enjoy "sims" and same time you can drive and enjoy more arcadish driving game. Why would you only choose one side? There's nothing wrong to drive Forzas, GT's etc console games, mainly with controller and still also drive actual sims on pc.

And some goes to "if you have pc you can't have PS(5) or Xbox(sX)" Hell, why not? I have always had both main consoles and still I've had pc too all the time. And I'm going to continue on that road.

Hmm... I don't know. I think I was expecting better graphics.

Anyway, I won't buy any console, I don't play videogames at all, I'm only interested in sim racing, but wanted
to see the quality of next gen graphics.

So... regarding the cockpit, the detailing is equal I think to what we have now with some mods in AC, or very close
to AMS 2's...

The track is of similar quality to the one in AMS 2... and what could maybe make a difference in 3D detailing,
are almost absent in this track, the trees, 3D trees... very few are seen closely, so I can't judge. We'll see when
new footage of more tracks are shown. But will they be as good and impressive as Forza Horizon 5's 3D trees?
Can't wait to compare them.

IF you play simracing games, you play videogames.

It looks great, can't judge physics without driving but should be alright if not the best on the market.
The AI needs to be faster than this but at least it isn't single file anymore.
