High Speed Ring Makes Stunning Return in Gran Turismo 7

One of Gran Turismo's most famous fictional tracks, the High Speed Ring, makes a return in Gran Turismo 7 and is looking great.

At the very end of the 1990's, many racing game fans were pouring hundreds of hours into Gran Turismo. Among the most well-loved tracks in the game was the High Speed Ring, a circuit that decades later many players of GT1 can still describe each turn from memory. But in the near future you can begin making new memories with the High Speed Ring, as it makes its return in the forthcoming Gran Turismo 7.

Gran Turismo 7's official Twitter account shared some PlayStation 5 renders of the updates High Speed Ring, and it looks gorgeous.

The HSR has appeared in all of the numbered Gran Turismo titles expect the third, and has become known as one of the best "grinding" tracks. Players can run dozens of races at the track to earn sufficient credits to buy their next car, and due to the simple layout with plenty of track width to overtake, it is a safe and easy way to grind.

Gran Turismo 7 is scheduled to be released to PlayStation 4 and 5 on March 4th. Are you going to buy GT7? If so, are you going to get reacquainted with the High Speed Ring? Let us know in the comments.

Not really impressed by GT7 so far, I guess Assetto Corsa players like me have been spoiled by the incredible variety and quality of modded content available (Shuto Expressway C1 for instance, the urban Japanese track I always dreamed of). Besides its iconic name I guess GT doesn't have anything special anymore, even though it's the series that brought many (including me) into racing games.

It runs on a PS5, did you try assetto corsa on a playstation?
Any mods for AC on the playstation?

Did you lately try to buy a reasonable videocard that can do 4K at 60fps?
These are more expensive than a complete playstation 5.

Go play your AC on the pc, but keep away from these topics.
Mine is better than yours, bla bla

These images have been available on the official website for a while, but this post does give me a chance to comment on the grandstands they've added on the outside of turn 6 leading back to the front straight. It gives the entire run from the last corner into turn 1 of the following lap a more stadium like atmosphere than before. It looks like the banking on turn 6 has been reduced however, so it might not be quite as high speed. Especially with turn 2 also being made tighter, albeit with a longer straight leading in.

I posted a few more comments regarding all three returning OG tracks so far as a thread in the GT sub-forums if anyone is interested in checking that out and maybe reviving that forum section.

Thank you for this is the best description of what High Speed Ring is about: grinding!
Not sure still why the title says "stunning" return, what is "stunning" about.it? Seems to me it fits perfectly with the rehash theme of GT7. So far, the only striking difference with GT 7 from previous iterations, is that you have to buy a GT game again.

GT7 will be fully optimised for the new Sony VR headset (PSVR2) which will be released this year.
If the spec rumours are accurate then this is really exciting news. Sony is, clearly, a company that don't have one foot stuck in the past.
I guess the same... expecting magic moments, but i don't even have a PS5 yet... :roflmao:
Screens look awesome! This will be the next standard of quality... :)

If GT7 is released for PC its an instant buy. I dont see myself buying a PS5 only for GT7

I agree, I'd buy it in a heartbeat...but it's never gonna happen.

That series sells more Sony consoles than anything else because it's exclusive, been that way since at least GT3.

For me, GT is about the GT Mode.

Buy a shitty car, race it, get money, modify it, get more money, buy a better car.

They watered that formula down with GT5 and GT6, but I hope that GT7 will be more like GT4 again.

I've played EVERY GT game since the original with many of the titles being the sole reason for buying a PS in the first place.

However, not this time, no way.

Upon buying a PS4-PRO just so I can play GTS a few years ago, I found myself having nothing but issues on the PS4 - wether it was the HDD acting up or the USB ports going out to hardly feeling any FFB on GTS. After playing for about a year, I found myself playing mostly PCARS 2 for another 3 years until I went back to PC.

Now, I am able to download and run Deep Forest while playing on VR in AC which I'd still take over any GT7 on PS5.

imagine grand turismo coming to pc will be amazing to play it and ofc will be mods and more
Probably closer than it ever was. Previous comment deemed as "clickbait" by the intelligent RD forum bot. The reason why I posted the article is for people to read it, not for you to delete it.

Because unfortunately it was clickbait. The URL made it look like Gran Turismo 7 had a confirmed PC release yet the article itself phrased it as a question, which in internet journalism always means "psyche, made you click!"

Also, I wouldn't trust anything those half-wits over at GTP say either. In summary, don't get your hopes up for a port, at least not when it comes to one of Sony's biggest assets in regards to selling consoles.

The Last of US, Uncharted, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and others are coming to PC. At this point it's inevitable GT7 is coming to PC. It's just a matter of when and how they go about communicating that.
