Voting has opened for the RaceDepartment Portuguese Grand Prix 'Driver of the Day'.

With the season now well underway, we enjoyed yesterday our third different pole sitter in as many weekends.

As expected around a track where overtaking can be limited, the start of the race proved to be its most exciting part. There were some good battles amongst the top three as well as interesting scraps in the midfield. As the race unfolded and things settled down, it became mostly about tyre management. With degradation higher than expected the hard compound seemed to be the preferred tyre.

Compared with the last couple of races, there were fewer standout performances this weekend. A few drivers starting out of position made good progress through the field. Others put in good drives but struggled in their second stints on a not very performant medium tyre. The race was otherwise not particularly eventful, however the fact that we should be in for a close championship was once again reaffirmed.

Don't forget to cast your vote for your winner, as we look ahead to next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

Lewis has no problem getting his elbows out.
It'll take a smart, determined driver...willing to go 'all in'....to shake that up anytime soon.
Max did it last time out during the first few corners in Italy while having the better car for that circuit.
LH is very seasoned and knows when is the right time to keep fighting versus losing all with a collision or retirement.
His drive this time out, gets my vote.
Lots of good battles up and down the field though.
I do like how the Alpine cars ran on this circuit.

Persistence doesn't make a good driver or a good drive, they're all pretty persistent to get where they are.
don't know what you're trying to say. if you have been fighting merc like this in recent years and remain motivated because the car is not good enough .. do you get it now?

agree but a fast car also helps. and some luck which LH always seems to have. And that Redbull has the best car is a media fairytale. last Sunday it was painfully visible that this is not the case

I got what you said the first time, it doesn't mean he's a good driver or driver of the day though - it means he's persistent. If it was a vote for the persistent driver of the day I'd understand your vote. Do YOU get it now?

"DR went from 17 - 9th"
Norris finished 5th at portugal, 3rd at imola, 4th barain.

If this continues, the top teams will be fighting to get LN and someone might find themself out of a merc or red bull seat next year - LN is definitely the best of the young drivers, much better than Russel and mazapin.

maybe you shouldn't interfere with what I voted for ;)

Oh no, 0.036s between merc and red bull in Q3, look at the gulf in performance.
Will be back for the salty comments after the race tomorrow - enjoy
