Oval Racing Coming to Circuit Superstars

Circuit Superstars Oval Update 01.jpg
A major update coming soon to Circuit Superstars will bring oval racing and stock cars, and allow players to draft while racing.

The official Twitter account for the Circuit Superstars game shared a tweet that announced a major update to the game that will include oval racing with stock cars. This style of racing involves drafting from other cars, so developer Original Fire Games will update the physics in kind to allow it.

Circuit Superstars has developed a strong following among racing game fans, thanks in no small part to some major celebrity endorsements from their Top Gear partnership earlier this year. In case you missed it, check out my interview with the Original Fire team where the team discuss how this unlikely success story came to be.

The three second video that accompanied the tweet didn't reveal much, though the stock cars did look quite far along in development, so hopefully players won't have to wait too long to try out this update.

Have you tried Circuit Superstars? Be sure to let us know your thoughts on the game in general or this upcoming update in the comments below.

They still need to fix the AI. I was so looking forward to the game, finally bought it, and lost interest after a couple races. The AI doesn't have the same handling as you, so they rip through the corners, knock you around (and players have to maintain a very delicate balance of timing and finesse to corner quickly), but the balancing is done by slow AI on the straights. It was the same thing as MotoGP20 and I uninstalled that to revert to MGP19. Can you restart races yet? Custom championships? This has a ton of potential, the cars look incredible, most of the tracks are awesome. Driving feels good. But the racing feels off. I can't imagine the oval events will unfold differently, but I am looking forward to it.

Exactly my feelings. Furthermore i don`t like the balancing. There is a gap between to hard and to easy. As you say the AI is like cheating.
But it has still great potential.

Interested to see how the specific challenges of AI oval racing are handled. If done right, it's not an easy or straightforward thing... at all.

Is there any online playerbase for this game? looks super fun
It is definitely super fun  There is a regular/active playerbase but it is not huge. To get decent lobbies, you either have to play at the 'peak' times or take part in organised leagues/events. The game is growing and there is currently crossplay between PC (Steam) and Xbox. Playstation (Q1 2022) and Switch (Q2 2022) releases due.
