Automobilista 2 Version 1.3.1 Now Live with Free Racin' USA DLC Weekend

Automobilista 2 Racin USA Part 2 01.jpg
Automobilista 2 has been updated to version 1.3.1.x, plus part 2 of the Racin' USA DLC has been released and offered for free until December 6th for owners of the game.

Reiza Studios has released another update and subsequent hotfix for Automobilista 2, building on the major physics and force feedback updates that came in version 1.3 last week.

Along with the update, most of the second part of the Racin' USA DLC has been released. The first part of the DLC included GTE and DPi cars, plus the Laguna Seca, Long Beach and Daytona tracks. The second part currently includes six varieties of CART cars from the late 1990's, plus the Cleveland Burke and Watkins Glen tracks. Road America will be added to the DLC in time.

Reiza has made this a free weekend for the Racin' USA DLC, so owners of AMS2 who haven't purchased the DLC can try it out for free until December 6th.

The changelog for this update is listed here. We'll take a deeper look at the new content soon, but for now be sure to share your own thoughts on this update and the new cars and tracks in the comments below

I seriously don't understand why the player base is so small. This title is such a gem but people are still dissing it as PC2 clone. I wish PC2 was even close to AMS2... Yes it may need final polishing done here and there (which title doesn't?) but it's consistently heading in the right direction. Update after update. Kudos to Reiza for this focus.

I bought all content I was missing past BF, but my CSL DD has basically died and doesn't recognize my wheels anymore :(

Was looking forward to some F1 watching and AMS2. I guess there's still some racing to watch at least.

I believe CART cars from the mid-90's and 2000 will be added on too, along with Road America: "Road America to be added to the pack later on the month with further machines from that same era!"

The 1998 cars are simply a joy to drive. And with Watkins Glen now in the game, we can race historic F1s there.

AMS2 has improved immensely since its initial release. I was a bit disappointed by version 1.0, I even thought of getting a refund, but I'm glad I stuck with it because it is now a great title. If they add safety cars and yellow flag periods, it will be even better. My guess is that these will be included when the 3rd Racing USA DLC is released, as it's supposed to include NASCAR and oval tracks.

Love WG not too fond of Cleveland but both tracks are good quality, the carts ffb is a bit disappointing, not getting much detail I would expect more with such a car but the cars handle well.

I had this on two new bases an original and a replacement, try with a wheel connected undoing the black shaft clamp and gently moving it around until it is recognised then tighten the clamp again (15nm torque is the setting I believe).

It may not work but it worked for me.

Good luck

Remember what ACC was like on release? Kunos turned that game around, and Reiza have done the same. I think the revolutionary differential fix being implemented will help the driving experience and hopefully attract more people to play. Mutliplayer has also been reasonably well populated since the safety rating got added, and people are driving reasonably well as a result.

I just spent the afternoon in the new Multiplayer room. The recent update has changed the feel and handling of the cars for the better and now with proper online competition and player ratings the racing is great fun and clean. I only got totally taken out once, at Watkins Glen by a car spinning at the 1st corner. It just needs more people in there but I could find races with 15-30 opponents jumping from Aussie V8s to Mini Touring cars to GTEs to Formula USA.

it's just a personal opinion but i don't like the new cars or single seater i find them very strange to drive as if they rotate on themselves, physics problem?

I've bought ams2 because it was so highly recommended here at RD. And yes I really like the visuals in VR and the single player races. But the online races are crap. Even with this new rating system. How can i increase my rating if I can't survive T1 or T2. My last 5 races were horrible. I waste my time to get a good starting position to leave the race angry after a few seconds... very sad.

I refunded AMS2 after it was launched as I wasn't impressed at all.

A friend convinced me to give it another try after a few months ago and I'm so glad i did!

I've since picked up all the DLC. While i'm not racing online with it yet, I'm really enjoying what it has to offer.

The last update was a real game changer.

Well done Reiza, keep up the good work.

Thank you, I'll give it a go

The game hasn't fully clicked with me handling-wise but I welcome the CART content, and the Cleveland track is something I haven't seen in a game in modern times. I didn't know which way to go, to be honest, when I ran it in practice but for such a flat track, it seemed to have nice surface detail that should make it interesting to do more laps.

After a long hiatus been racing PC2 loads again recently - and when using the one before the last version of POP's FFB file - PC2 is now quite good IMO. What's really tragic is PC2 has been royally dumped by folk and now after racing AC for an age and going back to PC2, I can see PC2 offers so much and IMO is tad better (with the FFB file). I can see why Reiza opted for the Madness engine as the whole package is really good and tbh I'm enjoying it more than AMS2. Not sure whose going to be pitchfork me first - the AC or AMS2 crew or both. :D

Because the reason is somewhat hard to figure out. People think that once the sim updated to get correct handling ,get correct physic etc, it will attract new players. LOT of updates didn't change the player base number so much. There are 2 possible other big issues.

First, the content are not interesting people OR the content are interesting people but the way they are presented or sold make them unattractive. Yes I agree that there are a bunch of people that are very satisfied of the actual contents but unfortunately they are not enough.

Second, it's a clone concept (not technically but conceptually) of at least 2 games but clearly not taking advantage of the cloned features.
Conceptually It's a PC2 clone but it's also an ACC clone. A PC2 clone in a way it has lot of content and most of them are unfinished. Conceptually a kind of a cheap Forza version . PC2 could survive with that because it was few years ago and the market was somewhat more tolerant and not saturated . AMS2 people often forget to consider the release context before comparing AMS2 to an another sim.

An ACC clone in a way it hopes that it will follow the same path from missed launch to big glory. Kunos at the ACC launch period already had huge experience in many areas like technical, marketing, communication, art, relations etc. Reiza seems to be more axed on technical things and struggles with the rest. Same causes same effect, different causes different effects...Also Kunos is a technology provider, Reiza is a technology user. Kunos creates its own game engine, Reiza uses madness engine that's a big difference. If we take a recent example , the new praised Ranking tool in AMS2 is just a port from PC2 at least conceptually...and seems to be very basic and linked to multiplayer mode which add lot of limitations. The ranking tool in ACC is very advanced and also available in single player mod.

I'm not an exclusive Kunos fan boy , I'm just trying to look at things objectively.
