WRC 10's October Update Brings New Historic Content, Rally Belgium and More

KT Racing has released October’s major update for WRC 10, and among the changes are new cars, locations and a co-driver multiplayer mode.

The first major post-release update for WRC 10 is now live. Developer KT Racing has given players lots of new and interesting things to check out.

On the content front, three new Anniversary Mode stages have been added along with a new modern location. For historic rally fans, WRC 10 now allows you to take a trip back in time and relive classic moments from rallies in 1980, 1981 and 2017. The respective historic cars have also been added to the roster to complement the stages, and players now have access to the Fiat 131 Abarth, Ford Escort MkII 1800, and the Ford Fiesta WRC.

The modern location that has been added is the Renties Ypres Rally Belgium. This is a tight and winding rip through small Belgian towns and countryside and plays into arguably the driving experience in the title, asphalt roads.

For those looking to race WRC 10 with friends, a co-driver multiplayer mode has been added. KT Racing supplemented the new mode with a pacenote chart, allowing the second player to give calls through voice chat to their teammate.

In terms of fixes and improvements, the changelog was very non-specific. “GPU optimizations” was listed, but no details were given on what was changed, which GPUs would see the changes, or what the effects would be. Other changes included localization improvements, enhancements to the livery editor, plus a short list of fixes for stages and cars.

I had some issues with my Thrustmaster T500 randomly losing ffb but going back to an earlier driver (Package 1.TTRS.2021 which was the last one I had) has fixed it.

Nothing has changed since the launch on the AI front. There's the odd event that is more of a challenge (not due to the patch that I'm aware of), but mostly far too easy on 150%. :/ About to start my first season in the WRC class just to see if it's any different at all.
Thanks for the info Bailey! Darn, that's too bad... hopefully KT will get around to that issue soon enough. Probably not an issue for a largely incompetent pretend rally driver like myself... but it does worry me all the same. Who knows... if I got the game, really got 'into it', and played WRC 10 a ton, I might actually become competent! :roflmao:

This update gave me big improvements in FPS on my PC with my RTX 3080 so they have definitely optimized the graphics.
Many settings that I had to have on low/medium to maintain a solid 120fps I now have been able to increase to high/very high and still have a rock solid 120fps , the game looks a lot better now to me.
Happy with the update as it gave me noticeable improvements.
I still think WRC 10 is the best rally game to date , gives me a great rush and I really enjoy driving the cars.

Here on RD was an thread where some fanboys loughed about my arguments coz this game is more or less crap.
The only positive thing is the stage layout. This is ok.

But essential thing in a rally game is screwed up....FFB.
The synthetic poor sounds are a mess.
Graphics are avarage but ok.... i can live with that.

The patches they release are just jokes.
Major october update.... wow.... people writing lot of problems and they bring just new stuff and igoring problems.
Lot of people including me have problems with Thrustmaster wheels and they give a fukk about it.
This software is only playable with a controller.

But they were fast to reply on my negative steam review :D
Fact is that they do not care about us so nothing will be fixed and
Ive bought this crap for the last time because i am sure for 100% that Wrc11 will be the same.

My only big hope is that someone will bring a physics mod like for Wrc8.......

OK, I've been to Ypres for the majority of its runnings in the last decade... and this just isn't it. I can spot bits of Flanders there, but the whole vibe and feel is just 'off'.

I don't understand why they wouldn't just try to replicate Kemmelberg 1:1 rather than turn the little hill into a mountain maze. And the random huge crosses that are scattered over plenty of junctions... is there such a thing around Ypres? I don't remember one in my time - lots of mini cemeteries obviously, but not these huge crucifixes all over. A lot more forest section than I remember seeing out there too.

Judging only by video, it feels like one of those stages they designed for WRC5 or 6 to me - where they've tried to make a tribute to something but completely missed the actual feel of the rally. Might just be me.

How's the AI? Previously, it was far too easy – skilled players could instantly dominate the AI in career mode, making it wholly unrewarding. Looking at the patch notes, it doesn't sound like that issue was addressed. Those who have tried the patch – has this changed?
The damage isn't very realistic either. I haven't wrecked a car yet, despite heavy crashes. I haven't even had to spend any overtime to repair it between stages. There's really no point in having a damage system which is this forgiving even on "realistic".

The "realistic" damage setting corresponds to what I would have called "low" - it's next to nothing.

Edit: In spite of this and a list of other flaws and annoyances, I still enjoy the game.

No sim rig motion support! Noooooooo!
I've got everything working now thanks to this patch:

SimHub works out of the box once installed properly. For Sim Tools there is a nice tutorial here. For Sim Commander I'm using SpaceMonkey with it's OpenTelemetry Plugin. I'm using the 1.0.4 version because with 1.0.5 I've had only trouble.

Awesome rally-game now and IMO much better than DR2 overall thanks to it's great FFB and intuitive handling. Just the framerates are still a joke even with my 3080. On my Samsung RG49 (5120x1440 px) I'm not getting much more than 60 fps not matter the settings and just installed the latest Geforce drivers.

it's been a while since I played some rally game, last one was Dirt2 for me
this looks tempting , but i'm not in a rush , so will probably wait for a bigger sale

Steam-sale or what? Global Steam keys are available for unter 25€ and I've paid 27€ after release. No optional refund, but I knew what I get and there is a 'demo' torrent around besides the Steam 2h tryout.

I typically only buy on steam, don't have confidence into those other sites ( even more so when the game pretty much just released - Sept02 )

Dirt2 or Dirt Rally 2?

If Dirt2, I thoroughly recommend trying the latter first.

I bought almost all titles from resellers, often for almost half the Steam-price before release and always got the game I've paid for. Just Gamivo lured me into a monthly subscription-fraud and I've paid 7,50€ before figuring this out and cancelling the BS. But even with that I've still paid 45% less for Horizon Zero Dawn than what Steam is asking today instead of the 60%. And can even happen in iRacing: when you buy content with PayPal, iRacing can automatically charge money and will do it once the subscription runs out without unchecking the automatic renewal. People who use PayPal should check what companies have the right to direct debit their account. Usually the list is longer than expected and not that easy to find either.

I'm not questioning (all that much ) if it's going to work on not, but I'm questioning the source , how did those companies get those cheap keys? there could be some not so nice practices at play and I don't want to support that with my money

There are all kinds of dark rumours how those keys can be sold so cheap, but I guess the most common method is buying the keys in countries with low prices like Rumania, Ukraine etc. and selling them internationally, so Steam is allowing this method while other stores like Xbox, Oculus or Epic are not. If the resellers would buy them from people who purchased those with stolen credit cards like many say, the prices would be quite even for example -20% for all games, but it just depends on the game. Some games are very cheap and some are as expensive as on Steam. There was no benefit buying Cyberpunk 2077 from a reseller, so I bought it on Steam while games like DR2, pCars 2 or WRC10 were under 30€ even pre launch. I think if more people would buy from resellers like me, Steam might change their policy and do more sales instead, but I guess Steam is profiting from this method as well. If people are not willing to pay the full price for a game, it's still more profitable to sell it for less than not sell it at all. Somebody should tell this to iRacing

PS: This Steam-method also reminds me of some German stores (Saturn/Mediamarkt) that are selling their stuff often far more expensive in the physical compare to their own online store. If you remind them in the shop that the same product online costs far less, you pay the online price without discussion, but guess how many percent of people do this... :whistling:

PPS: I was reading that there are online-stores offering the same products for different prices depending on (for example) your browser. Higher prices for Mac- and certainly iPad-users for example. Amazon Prime nowadays is often more of a fraud. Amazon lured so many people into buying their prime-service and many if not most forgot to compare prices since Amazon used to be cheap, but not anymore. You can often find Amazon-stuff far cheaper elsewhere including shipping.
