Fanatec release GT World Challenge steering wheel

Damn! I was a bit unhappy with my Porsche wheel (Thumb molds too tight and LED strip annoyingly bright and clunky) and got the McLaren V2 instead.
I was lurking for the Round R330 wheel with the new Uni-Hub with the magnetic shifters but was looking for something a bit more ergonomically shaped.

Now Fanatec releases this ergonomic round wheel with leather, which is perfect for my hands.
Sadly I'm really used to the ton of buttons, switches, rotaries of the McLaren V2 and the podium hub is quite expensive.. and a bit ugly...

If Fanatec would produce an extended Uni-Hub with Clutch paddles and some buttons that are easy to reach, I'd be all over it.

They made the perfect rim for my taste. Maybe they'll make the perfect hub too at some point.

I'd be really impressed if it were possible to purchase ANYTHING from Fanatec in Australia, more so if the ever answered any sales inquiry as well.

Why release a circular steering wheel if it's based on a championship where every car is using some sort of rectangular "wheel" nowadays?

Yeah the podium stuff is 579€, the rim only 129€..
There's some clubsport hub button + clutch paddles extension missing.
The McLaren v2 rim is incredible in value right now with the updated magnetic shifter bar and the rotaries now being infinity rotaries instead of only 12 positions.

I’ve got the Porsche version and the ITM/dash functions are very poor. To switch between the different info pages you must press a button and a small rotary, quite hard using gloves. No option of editing the pages or info with my CSW using fanalab. And each game provides a certain info, so you can get delta info in some, or just almost nothing in other. It’s been a bit dissapointing after one year using it. I was expecting some work on it, especially after seeing how other brands are offering really useful dashes. I hope the quality of the buttons are better than the old Button module endurance’s. I had to ask for a replacement after 3 months of use because some cracked. Anyway, it’s a very good looking wheel, expensive but with a lot of buttons to configure. Shame Fanatec didn’t try to improve the ITM. Hopefully this new one product will help old customers to get something better that doesn’t ask you to use simhubs or so.

My thoughts exactly, are there any current GT3 cars that uses a round wheel?

They need to do a Clubsport (or even Podium) level version of the Mclaren wheel. The Bentley and the BMW M4 wheel are probably going to be a bit too expensive for your average Fanatec user. A Clubsport Formula Type rim but in a GT Spec would sell loads.

I ordered the new ClubSport Steering Wheel RS instead. It costs less than a half of this one, I hope it can be good for my CSL DD and I want to use it mosty in AC for road cars (I'm going to use the McLaren GT3 v2 for racing). It has been delayed though, so I haven't received it yet. Are you going to review this wheel, too? I understand this is a refresh of the Porsche 918 RSR wheel that has been discontinued, with less weight (no vibration motors) and some improvements (magnetic shifters, etc.)

Fanatec needs to make more 300mm wheels, round and D-shape. 330 is too much circle for most people.

Is this false advertising? No real GT3 car has a wheel like this I think. But maybe I'm wrong

Urghh.. That looks beautiful! I've the Porsche version or it.. but this one.. Oh my my. Prefer the looks... Since when it this one in the store? ohhhh It's new.. pre order.

It's changing pre-order dates though!
I'm pretty sure the first ones should also be in use.
I thought about replacing the Porsche rim with that as it has the new clubsport magnetic shifters!
Sadly the rev stripe can't be dimmed. Just full on or off and it's way too bright for me...

Seems I can sell the Porsche for 300+, so yeh. easy choice

Specially due the shifters. Next month gonna be special. ohh new peorderdates?

Seems far too expensive for what it is. But... I do give them credit for having another non-branded rim – I don't want to always be using a BMW or Porsche-branded wheel or whatever. May be in the minority on this one, though.
