Art of Rally Launches on PlayStation Consoles

Funselektor’s quirky and well-loved rally title has been released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.

Art of Rally is now available in the PlayStation Store. Developer Funselektor has released versions for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The Xbox console port of Art of Rally happened earlier this year.

Art of Rally has developed a healthy fanbase within the rally sim and sim racing community. Visually, the game would lead you to believe that the intent is only fun, but underneath the colourful and artistic looks is a rally title that delivers a surprisingly deep driving experience.

Next to the colour palate and overall aesthetics, the next defining feature of AoR is the driving view. Off-putting to some, the title has a camera view that could best be described as a long chase cam. This view allows you to see lots of the road ahead, eliminating the need for the co-driver calls we get in most rally racing titles.

The looks and driving view make Art of Rally unique, but ultimately it stands out thanks to the fun and challenging driving. The driving experience is applied to either free roam, time trial or career mode. The career mode plays as a sort of interactive history lesson for rally racing. You’re tasked first with driving lower horsepower cars from the 70’s, then building through multiple seasons into the famed Group B rally cars and beyond.

The move to console from PC for Art of Rally was a great choice by Funselektor. The game is best enjoyed with a controller, and the unique driving view can be enjoyed perfectly while seated across the room from your TV.

Art of Rally is available on Steam, Xbox and now PlayStation. Be sure to share your thoughts on this title in the comments below.

Have they fixed the controls on the Switch yet? Bought it a while ago, but not being able to change the controls was quite underwhelming.

Hopefully Playstation players get a better framerate than Xbox. I got this on my Series X with Gamepass, worst framerate of any game on my Series X. I would love to play it more, but any stage with trees stutters like badly. I wish the dev would prioritize fixing it, but for now I have to share anyone with a Playstation should check reviews before paying money for it or risk being frustrated by this issue. It needs a smooth framerate to play well and enjoy, it does not have it on the Xbox consoles.
